A/N: Hey everyone, if you guys are still out there SKSKSK. It's currently my finals week but I have absolutely no will to study right now so TADAA I'm here updating this fic LMFAOO. Do wish me luck, though!

Anyway, here you go! I hope you enjoy :)

'Hon'nouteki naru situation tatakau imi wo sagasu kono imitation

Kurayami kara afureru raito torawareta yourself kowase~*

Hearing her cellphone ringing from her room, Momoi Satsuki hurriedly finished brushing her teeth and wrapped her wet hair up in a towel before rushing to her room.

*Dai-chan is calling*

She glanced at the clock and it read 12:31 AM. What the hell does her idiot of a childhood friend want now?

"Dai-chan do you know wh-"

"Good, you're still awake"

She raised a brow, not that he could see but still, and just as she was about to hang up on him, he continued

"I'm sneaking the old man's car out. Let's go for a drive" he was ordering her, not asking. Of course, this was Aomine Daiki, after all. Satsuki rolled her eyes

"Won't ojii-san be mad at us both?" She asked weakly, already sold on the idea of going on an adventure with just the two of them, just like old times.

The manager could practically hear the smirk in his voice as he answered, "Never stopped us before. Come on, Satsuki. I'm bored out my mind"

Satsuki giggled. Looking at herself in the mirror, she noted that she was only clad in a tank top and really, really short shorts. It was the summer before their 2nd year at Touou so she opted for more comfy clothes at home to cope with the heat.

"Alright, dai-chan. I'll be down in a sec"

"Cool. See you"

She grabbed her favorite jacket (It was dai-chan's, actually. His touou varsity jacket that he threw at her during that match with Seirin. She forgot to return it to him and he wasn't really looking for it so she used it instead. It was really big on her but it was comfy as hell so whatever) and wore it over her existing clothing, not bothering to change since she was just going with Dai-chan, after all. She shook her still-damp pink hair a bit to give it some volume, put on a bit of lip gloss and, with one last look at the mirror, slipped out of the Momoi household.

Satsuki eyed the Aomines' dark blue Subaru with appreciation before hopping in. No wonder Dai-chan loved sneaking the car out so much, it was, undeniably, a sweet ride.

The ace raised a brow at her attire, immediately recognizing his jacket. Satsuki only shrugged, "You didnt ask for it back"

Daiki smirked the slightest bit before releasing the handbrake and stepping on the gas. With his eyes on the road, he replied "Keep it. Looks good on you"

Satsuki blamed the summer heat for the blood rushing to her cheeks

The roads were near deserted and it made their ride as smooth as ever. Daiki had a bit of a temper (as always) when driving but he was relatively calm since there was hardly anybody out at this time of the night, Satsuki noted with ease. She turned to look at her childhood friend who looked so focused and so at peace as he was driving. She smiled at the way his sharp eyes were glued to the road while a toned arm loosely gripped the steering wheel.

They sat in comfortable silence, the soft melody from the stereo filling the air. It mustve been Aomine-obaachan's cd, Satsuki thought. Dai-chan never liked that kind of music

She missed being with him like this. Just the two of them, in their own little world. No words needed to be said. They both just relished in the presence of each other, as they always did. It was comforting, having someone who knew you your whole life and accepted you for who you were. It felt like being with your other half. Like a finished puzzle. It felt like being complete.

She would never say it out loud but that's exactly what she felt like whenever she was with him.

He was driving through a familiar road, and yet Satsuki couldn't point her finger as to where they were going. It was hard to tell in the dark. They passed landmarks that she saw often in middle school. The convenience store where they usually got popsicles on the way home, the arcade she and the miracles went to, Toto-ojiisan's ice cream store—oh.

"Satsuki," Daiki started, his voice quiet and somehow laced with nervousness. Satsuki didn't even realize that he stopped until she heard him pull up the handbrake.

She peered out the window and saw that they were at Teiko. The home of the Generation of Miracles.

Their home.

A wave of nostalgia washed over her. How was it possible for one place to have such good memories and at the same time, horrible ones as well?

Memories of them walking home together after practice, of Ki-chan's first day training in first string, of Tetsu-kun passing out from exhaustion,

Memories of Dai-chan realizing his potential, of the miracles losing themselves one by one,

Memories of her boys growing cold and distant with her not being able to do a damn thing, getting left out and forgotten in the process.

She let out a sad smile. Middle school had some of the best years of her life and yet gave her the most traumatic ones, too

Daiki looked out with a similar expression on his face, he was probably thinking the same thing.

"We never really talked about what happened" he continued and his best friend could see how hard this was for him. The way his posture was stiff and his hands were balled into fists gave him away as he observed the campus.

"There wasn't anything to talk about Dai-chan" Okay, that was a lie. But how could she when her usually cocky-as-hell bestfriend was looking like the broken boy that he was just a few years ago? She wanted to switch seats with him and take him away from this place. This sullen expression with sad eyes didnt suit him at all. She would prefer the arrogant smirks directed at her when he successfully riled her up over this any day

"Bullshit" he said, though there was no edge to it "I was an asshole, Satsuki— shit, I was more than that" he looked so frustrated that she felt water pooling in her eyes. She blinked them away

"You never deserved to go through that. You didn't have to put up with my bullshit" He remembered hearing from Kise that she was crying when he skipped practice for the third time in a row the first week that he did it and a pang of guilt shot through him.

"No, you didn't have to put up with all our bullshit" he added with a tone of finality, referring to the miracles. "But you did. That was fucked up, Satsuki. Im sorry"

Hearing the words she secretly longed for brought tears to her eyes but she didn't bother wiping them. She knew this was just as painful for him as it was for her but they needed this. The issue felt like forever ago but the wounds were still fresh.

She knew it would lift a huge weight off of both their shoulders so she made no attempt to stop her bestfriend from expressing his thoughts. This would help the both of them heal and finally move on.

He continued, confirming Satsuki's hunch that he was probably rambling again. He did that sometimes whenever he was with her. He would say everything that was on his mind without realizing it. It never ceased to amaze her how open they are with each other

"After all that, you even followed me to Touou" he gave a dry laugh, as if he couldn't believe what he was saying. When he said it like that, Satsuki realized how stupid it actually sounded. She cracked a small smile "You didnt have to, but you did. Fuck" he was ruffling his hair in exasperation and Satsuki giggled softly at the same time he mumbled something, causing her to not hear it clearly

"What?"

"Thank you" he repeated, now meeting her gaze and she could've sworn her heart skipped a beat "for everything, Satsuki, really"

He smiled so genuinely that it was enough to make another batch of tears fall. Daiki fondly shook his head at her and reached out to wipe her tears with both thumbs. He sunk back comfortably at the driver's seat afterwards.

"Losing to Seirin helped me realize a hell of a lot" He explained. He knew she was wondering where all this came from, especially all of a sudden "but most of all, it made me realize that there was something constant in my life apart from basketball"

This perked her interest and she tilted her body to face him, curiosity in her features

He chuckled. Did she seriously not know?

"You, Satsuki" she broke out into a grin with more tears falling down her pretty face. Daiki returned her grin before reaching out and wiping her tears once more "I know I'm being a sap right now but you really need to stop crying"

She laughed, glad that they finally cleared things up and that the atmosphere in the car was light again "I wish I knew that this would happen. I would've dressed for the occassion, Dai-chan"

Smirking, he responded with a soft "Shut up" before releasing the handbrake once more and driving away from Teiko

She smiled beautifully and leaned over to her best friend, "I don't regret anything, you know. Especially following you to Touou." She said, as-a-matter-of-factly. Kissing him on the cheek, she added "You'll always have me, Dai-chan"

He rolled his eyes at her cheesiness and ruffled her hair with his free hand. Appreciation written all over his feautres.

"You hungry?"

Satsuki glanced at the clock and it read 2:00 AM

Nodding, she closed her eyes and smiled contently

I guess the most heartfelt conversations really do happen at 2 AM

A/N: HEY EVERYONEEE. Sorry for the wait, again. Y'all are probably tired of hearing this from me by now, I honestly don't know why I even bother SKSKSK. ANYWAY, I've been planning to change the title of this fic since it's a collection of oneshots now, should I? And should I keep on adding chapters to this or should I just post my oneshots as individual fics? LMFAOO I don't even know anymore, but let me know what you guys think okay?

I hope you liked this chapter! I really enjoyed writing it. Reviews are highly appreciated :)
