Chapter 7

'So since when do you wanna have lunch in the cafeteria?' Ethan asks.

Charlie doesn't hear him he's looking for the girl who made his mom laugh.

'Dude?'

'What?'

'Why the caf?'

'No reason. It's just the first day. Let's be like everyone else for one's.' Charlie continues looking. Lilly's just walking into the cafeteria. She's looking around then her eyes stop looking. Charlie follows her eyes. She's looking at that new guy that's in his class what was his name again…Ty? Theon? It was something with a T. She walks to the new guy and sits down next to him.

'You know what. Everyone else is boring let's go outside.' Charlie says to Ethan and walk away.

'Austin? Austin?' Victor asks.

'What?' Austin wakes up from his daydream.

'You really should give up on Lilly.'

'Why? It just started I know her name. It's a beginning.'

'She had lunch with another guy. That guy is in the 11th grade. She's way out of your league.'

'I know, but she's so pretty.'

'Only looks. Typical you.'

'Maybe your right, but I just really want a girlfriend.'

'You are the most cliché guy ever. I just want a girlfriend. The most important thing is that she's pretty.' Victor shakes his head.

'Maybe you're a little right about Lilly. She really is out of my league.'

'There is someone who kept asking about you…' Victor opens the door to his house.

'Who?' Austin asks excited.

'Kate, I guess she's into you.'

'Kate?' He says considering. 'Uhm…She's kind of cute.'

'Why this sudden interest in a girlfriend?'

'I just want to forget about all this drama with my parents.' Austin says.

'By creating your own drama?'

'Okay, guys you were chosen for the team but that doesn't mean you're there yet. You have to work hard. Give all you have. I expect 100% from all of you, we're a team which means we are as strong as a weakest link and no one want to be that right?' Grace asks. She looks to Blair.

'So start with running 5 laps and then 20 sit ups.' Blair says. No one moves.

'Now!' Grace shouts. They all start to run. 'Seriously is listening so hard…' She says to Blair.

'Luckily they have a whole year to learn.' Blair says.

Blaze is running in the front.

'You're doing great guys!' Grace shouts.

'Thanks for taking the bus with me.' Tyler says.

'No problem, I have to ask Alli something anyway.' Lilly says.

The walk up to the door and Tyler opens it. 'Hey Tyler, I'm in the kitchen. How was your first day at school?' Alli asks.

'It was okay. I did have fun at lunch.' They walk to the kitchen.

'Hey Lil, I didn't know you were coming!' Alli gives Lilly a hug.

'Yeah, I just came to invite you all to have dinner at our place this Friday.' Lilly says.

'We'd love to, but Tyler is that okay with you too?' Alli turns to Tyler. 'Just be honest.' She smiles.

'I'd really like that.' He smiles at Lilly.

'Great! Well I should go. See you tomorrow.' She gives him a hug and Alli a kiss on the cheek. 'Bye!'

'Bye sweetie!' Alli says.

She walks out the door.

'So how was school?' Alli asks Tyler.

'It was okay.'

'Did you make any friends?' She smiles. 'I know horrible first day at a new school question.'

'It's the first time someone asked me that.' He smiles. 'I actually made a friend.'

'That's great. A classmate?'

'No, someone I bumped into and had lunch with.'

'Okay, well great you found a friend. You should bring him by some time.'

'It a girl.'

'Ooo a girl. She can come by too.'

'She just did.'

'Lilly?'

'Yeah, I don't care about grades. I care about the way people are.' He says in defense.

'I didn't mean it like that.' Alli walks to Tyler and rubs his arm softly. 'I was just surprised, but you are right what matters is the inside not some stupid number. I'm proud of you for realizing that so young. You are a really good person.' She smiles and gives him a hug. First it feels awkward, but then he hugs Alli back.

'Heey mom, I'm home!' Blaze shouts while she closes the front door.

Emma walks out of the kitchen. 'Heey sweetie, how was practice.'

'It was great, but I'm so exhausted.' Blaze sighs.

'Was it tough?'

'Yeah, I guess they were testing us. Cheerleading is not just jumping around and screaming.'

'Good but, I have to get back to dinner sweetie and don't you have any homework?'

'Too bad teachers don't understand what a first day means.'

'We certainly do, but we're trying to spread the work over the whole year.'

'I'd wish we have less work.' She says while walking up the stairs.

'Don't we all…' Emma walks back into the kitchen and turns the hamburgers just in time.

Blair sighs pricking in her Chinese.

'You can't say I didn't try.' Owen smiles to his daughter.

'Dad, half of it was black and all of it was disgusting.' Victor says.

'Well, I love Chinese.' Austin says and keeps eating.

'Thank you, Austin. I think I'll adopt you. At least one kid who appreciates me.' Owen says.

'We appreciate you, dad. Just not your cooking.' Blair says. Victor laughs.

'I can't wait for Mom to be back.' Owen says.

'Me too.' Blair whispers softly.

'So Austin, will you please tell me why you need to stay here. It isn't any trouble. It's just that I'd like to know.'

'Dad, I think It's time for dessert.' Victor says.

'What do you mean. Only half your plate is empty.' Owen says.

Blair gives him a look and Austin just tries to look away.

'Oo, right. It's okay. Do they at least know you're here?' He asks.

'Guys, we have something we need to discuss with you.' Declan says.

'Are we in trouble?' Ethan asks.

'You? Always.' Holly J smiles.

'Mom, seriously.' Noah says.

'Sorry, Noah. We want to talk to you about your birthday next week.' Holly J says.

'What about it?' Ethan asks while eating lasagna.

'Well, last year you guys wanted a real party but we told you both that you were to young.' Declan says.

'Yes?' Noah asks. 'So…' He says hopefull.

'This year, you guys are old enough.' Holly J smiles.

The boys turn to each other and give each other a high five. 'Yes!' Noah shouts.
