Sakura didn't go to see Light's father. What place would she have visiting him anyway? They weren't friends and she wasn't family, all she was to him was his son's friend. So Sakura sat in her room, knees to her chest, wondering just what was going on. She couldn't help but think that maybe she'd made a dire mistake in judgment by suspecting Light of being Kira. Sure, he was smart and sure, he had a bad aura, but that didn't make him Kira! It was like a gut instinct was telling her, but that wasn't the most accurate judge of character.
It all came down to one thing: was Light capable of killing his own father? Sakura couldn't say for sure, but she didn't think that Light was capable of offing his own family. Then again, maybe that was a mistake too. Uchiha Itachi had once been an incredible shinobi, said to be a good and honorable man, yet he had murdered his entire family, aside from the person that would eventually go on to murder her. Maybe Light really was capable of killing his family.
I don't know what I'm doing anymore…
It was long after the sun had set when Sakura finally received some news on the situation. She'd been half-heartedly studying English grammar and spelling when her phone starting ringing. At first Sakura was startled, having not expected it to go off, but once she saw who it was from she answered immediately.
"Light-kun!" Sakura exclaimed before he had a chance to speak. "What happened? Is he okay?"
"He's fine," Light sighed. "It was just a heart attack brought on by stress."
"Oh thank god," Sakura breathed, "I really thought Kira got him."
"So did I, I'm so relieved he's okay," Light replied.
"Thank you for letting me know. I was very worried about him," Sakura said. She was planning on telling him goodbye, but Light appeared to have some questions for her.
"Hey, Sakura-chan, do you mind if I ask you something?" Light asked.
"Yeah, sure, go ahead," Sakura responded.
"How do you know L?" he questioned.
Shit! What am I supposed to say to that?
I don't know! I would say be honest, but there's no telling how he'll react.
Crap.
"He told me," Sakura replied.
"Why did he tell you, though?"
"I'm not sure. It must've been my womanly charm. Maybe he fell in love with me."
That has got to be the stupidest thing I've ever heard come out of your mouth.
Like you could come up with something better on such short notice.
"Sakura-chan," Light said, his voice displaying exasperation.
"Alright, alright, I can't actually tell you everything since I've been sworn to secrecy, but I will tell you that it was an accident that I found out," Sakura replied. It wasn't a complete lie, but Sakura was definitely as confused about the situation as Light was. Why L had trusted her with his identity after just meeting her, she had no idea. Even the Task Force members had to wait a significant amount of time before L revealed his face to them. He'd only known her for two days, for crying out loud!
Maybe he really is in love with me...
Don't get your hopes up.
That's disgusting.
"I see. Thanks, Sakura-chan, I'll see you later," Light said.
"Yeah, see you later, and Light-kun?"
"Yes?"
"Send your father my regards."
One minute. It took only one minute until her phone was ringing again. She was utterly stunned that she was now suddenly Miss Popularity. When Sakura picked up her phone to see who it was, she was surprised to see that there was no number listed. It simply said 'private caller'. She really hoped that she wasn't making a mistake in answering.
"Hello?" Sakura asked into the receiver. There was silence for a moment before an older man's voice began to speak.
"Haruno-san? Is that you?" the man questioned.
"Yes, that's me. Who is this?" Sakura replied.
"Ah yes, this is Watari. I was given orders from Ryuzaki to let you know our next location. I must request that you don't write down the address, do you think you could memorize it?" the man, Watari, asked.
"I guess I could, but…you're going to have to give me detailed directions so that I don't get lost on the way there," Sakura replied.
"Very well, only one moment, Haruno-san," Watari said. There was a rustling on the other line, of what Sakura was unsure, but after a moment had passed Watari was detailing the way for her to reach the next hotel. She wanted to ask if there would ever be a permanent establishment, but she figured that it was probably safer for L to move around rather than staying in one place.
"I've been meaning to ask, but how am I supposed to contact you guys?" Sakura asked once she'd stored both the address and directions in a special place in her mind, a place where she kept things she needed to remember.
"It will be like this. I will contact you whenever Ryuzaki needs to inform you of something, including when we change locations," Watari explained.
"Yes, but what about when I need to contact you?" Sakura asked.
"We have prepared you something, but you'll have to wait until tomorrow to receive it," Watari explained.
"I understand. Is there any particular time I should show up?" Sakura asked.
"Any time that's convenient for you. I understand that you're a student, Haruno-san, so please don't let us distract you from your studies."
"Thank you, I really appreciate it," Sakura replied.
"I'll let you go now, Haruno-san."
"Alright, thank you."
Why are you doing this?
What do you mean?
It's not too late to become a doctor.
Did you miss everything I told Yagami last night?
You and I both know that you're just going to repeatedly cut university classes until you're kicked out.
…I know I shouldn't be wasting this, but what am I supposed to do? I'm not cut out for this world. I already have extensive amounts of medical knowledge so passing the science and medical courses would honestly be a piece of cake, but I don't have a chance at passing anything else.
You will if you work hard.
No, I won't. I consider myself to be smart but I can't make up for 10 years of lost education just by working hard and studying. Let's face it, I don't have a chance. I won't pass this year, so I might as well spend my time doing something worthwhile.
I never expected you to be such a quitter.
You call it quitting, I call it common sense. I am a hard worker. Once this case is solved, I'll have not only experience under my belt, but I'll be given an opportunity to examine Kira and his ability to kill. I will have information that no other doctor out there has. I may fail a year or two of school, but with information like that I will be leagues above all my competitors. Anyone with half a brain would overlook a few years of failed school for information on Kira and his ability to kill.
You are…surprisingly ruthless, but I don't think you quite understand how this school works…you have to pay for university, you know.
Didn't I get a scholarship for scoring third?
Yes, but they'll take it away once you start failing classes.
I see…then I have no choice. I'm still going after Kira.
You are so stubborn.
I know. It's one of my best traits.
Being stubborn is not a good trait!
Now that Sakura knew that Yagami was alright, she felt that she could finally go to sleep. She somehow knew tomorrow would be a long day. Sakura curled under her blankets and entered a dreamless sleep. Being a kunoichi, she was aware of thousands of scenarios she could be awakened. The least likely was usually waking up normally without anything being wrong, but that was before being transferred to Tokyo, Japan where it was suddenly transformed to the most likely.
So the last thing she expected was a rude awakening. She sensed something was off and her reflexes instantly awakened her, causing her to roll off of her bed and onto the floor just as a body pounced on where she'd been laying only a moment before. In seconds, Sakura was on her feet, in a defensive position, and inching her way towards the window just in case she needed to make an escape. Plus if she shoved her hand through the glass she would have a certain weapon. Sakura dropped her fists and breathed a sigh of relief when Ryuu lifted his head from her bundle of blankets. Unless her own brother was out to kill her, she would assume she was safe. Besides, she knew Ryuu's strength. She could take him on.
"Were you awake that whole time, nee-chan?" Ryuu asked. His eyes were wide with shock. "Since when are your reflexes so fast?"
"My reflexes aren't that fast," Sakura laughed, "you're just loud and slow."
"Oh come on, that's so mean, nee-chan! This time last year you wouldn't move even when I did jump on you!" Ryuu pouted. Was her dummy really that slow and stupid?
"A lot can change in a year. Now that you've woken me up, what did you want?" Sakura asked and crossed her arms. Ryuu pouted in apparent disappointment.
"My senpai begged me to ask you to come to our next game," Ryuu sighed. "I meant to ask you last night, but you seemed really upset so I thought it might bother you. Anyway, I thought it might be fun to jostle you awake. You used to always get so mad when I woke you up. What happened?"
"I grew up," Sakura replied. "Why does your senpai want me to go to your next game?"
"Oh come on, nee-chan," Ryuu snorted. "You can't say you don't notice. Everyone at Daikoku thought you were beautiful. All of the third years want to see you again."
"Is that so? When's your next game?" Sakura asked.
"Wait, you can't seriously be planning on going! Don't give those guys what they want!" Ryuu protested.
"Why'd you ask me then?" Sakura responded.
"I promised my senpai I would, and I try not to break promises," Ryuu explained.
"Then I won't go. Tell your senpai that I'm too busy, but that I'll be cheering them on and all of that cheesy stuff. That should make them happy, right?" Sakura said.
"Yep, that should hold them over. Thanks, nee-chan," Ryuu chirped and practically bounced out of the room.
Were little brothers normally so petty? Sakura sighed and ran a hand through her pink tresses. Would it be weird if she showed up at task force headquarters so early? What if L was sleeping? …Judging by the dark circles around his eyes she seriously doubted it.
"Well, it wouldn't hurt to show up early," Sakura shrugged. She grabbed a pair of clean black capris and a green sweater that matched her eyes and changed into the flattering ensemble. She wasn't exactly on a schedule so Sakura took the extra time to apply some makeup. She hadn't realized how much she missed wearing makeup; it made her feel so feminine and pretty.
After making sure her hair was presentable and her teeth were brushed, Sakura grabbed her purse and descended the stairs.
"Going somewhere, Sakura-chan?" her mother asked just as Sakura had claimed a peach and was sneaking towards the door. She visibly deflated. It seemed that even if her parents were civilians, she still couldn't sneak past them.
"Yep," Sakura replied as she took a bite out of her peach.
"It's pretty early, Sakura-chan. Where do you need to be at this time?" her mother asked. Sakura inwardly groaned. Her mother was going to grill her until she gave some sort of an answer. She knew she wouldn't be able to keep what she was doing from her mom forever, but she was hoping to put it off for a while longer.
She would just have to start leaving the house through her window from them on.
"Nowhere in particular, just going to hang out with my friend," Sakura replied. It wasn't a lie, even though L wasn't technically her friend.
"So early?" her mother said.
"He's kind of an early bird," Sakura replied. Her mother was silent for a very long moment before her face immediately contorted into the biggest grin Sakura had ever seen. It would've been terrifying if her mom wasn't so pretty.
"A boy!" her mother squealed. "Go on then! Don't make him wait! Make sure to introduce him to us soon! Go on! Go on!"
Sakura almost protested with her mom who clearly assumed it was a date, but she was pushed out the door before she was able. She doubted her mom would be very excited if she knew who she was really meeting with. Oh well, that was why she wasn't telling her mom.
Has your mom still not noticed her missing knives?
That's right! I need to buy some of my own. Preferably some kunai, do they even sell those here?
Maybe…you do know it's illegal to carry knives around, right?
WHAT?! How would I possibly know that?!
Common sense?!
Ugh, I'll have to return these when I come home. I would do it now, but Kaa-san would see me and know I took them, so I'll just wait until later.
Good thinking, just don't get caught with knives in your purse unless you're prepared to go to jail.
It would've been lovely if you'd told me this earlier.
Sakura thought back to the directions given to her by Watari and she made sure to follow them to a T. She walked briskly, weaving through the hordes of people probably on their way to work of school. It only took 20 minutes to walk to the latest hotel L was staying in. She was eager to begin working. As she walked into the hotel, she realized she had no idea what room he was staying in or even the floor. Groaning slightly, it occurred to Sakura that she could attempt to locate their chakra signatures throughout the building but she'd never attempted something so large before and she was hardly a sensor. If she got overwhelmed by 5 chakra signatures, she had no doubt that she would probably fall unconscious from all of the energy around her.
She would have to do things the old fashioned way. Attaching her best smile, Sakura approached the front desk and rang the little bell to get the receptionists attention.
"Excuse me," Sakura said. "I don't mean to be a bother, but I'm supposed to meet my fiancé here. He hasn't been answering his phone so I'm not sure what room he's in. Do you think you could help me out?"
The receptionist gave her a small smile and a nod, "Sure, sweetie, could you give me your fiancé's name?"
She sure hoped this worked, "Ryuzaki."
The receptionist frowned, probably annoyed by the first name, but they looked up the name on the computer and smiled at her, "You're in luck. There's only one Ryuzaki staying here. He's on the 23rd floor in room 1012."
Sakura nodded and thanked the receptionist repeatedly. She didn't know how L could allow that to be so easy. Didn't they have confidentiality agreements or something like that? Was she that good of an actress or was the receptionist just that incompetent?
Either way she wasn't complaining. Somehow she didn't think it was an accident that L didn't tell her the room number or floor, and it was her fault for not asking when she had Watari on the line the night before.
Sakura entered the elevator and pressed the button leading up to the 23rd floor. Just as the elevator doors were closing, an old man wearing a top hat entered the elevator.
"What floor?" Sakura asked.
"It seems you've already pushed it," the man said in a very familiar voice.
Once the doors closed, Sakura said, "Watari?"
"Ah yes, that's me, Haruno-san," Watari smiled slightly down on her.
"You didn't tell me what the room number was," Sakura commented.
Now it was Watari who smiled, "You found your way, did you not?"
"You really shouldn't make it so easy to find your room," Sakura pointed out.
"I can assure you that we'll be okay," Watari replied. "I didn't expect you to show up so early. Don't the kids like to sleep in these days?"
"I like waking up early," Sakura laughed. "You know what they say, 'the early bird gets the worm'."
"Truer words could not have been spoken," Watari responded. She was glad at least SOMEONE agreed with her. The two of them stood in the elevator in comfortable silence. Watari seemed to be a kind and decent human being, unlike his ward. Sakura looked to see Watari holding not one, but two boxes of donuts in his arms.
"Um, who are those for?" Sakura asked, already having an idea.
"Ryuzaki has quite the sweet tooth," Watari responded. As she expected.
"Tell me, has he ever even seen a vegetable?" Sakura crossed her arms.
"He refuses to eat them."
"Does that include carrot cake? Something tells me he'll make a special exception for that."
"You'd be correct in that assumption, Haruno-san."
"Please call me Sakura, I feel weird having someone so much older than me using my surname."
"Very well, Sakura-san."
"Why don't you, I don't know, force feed him real food?" Sakura asked.
"He refuses to eat them under normal circumstances," Watari replied.
The elevator dinged on their floor and both Sakura and Watari exited. She let Watari lead since he clearly knew where he was headed.
"Unbelievable!" Sakura huffed. "He can't just eat nothing but sweets, that's the most unhealthy thing I can think of. It's a miracle he's not fat!"
"Ryuzaki has always had a fast metabolism."
"That's not gonna last! Tell me, Watari, how often does he sleep?"
"It depends, but it is not that often."
Sakura ground her teeth. If Kira didn't kill L, then L would probably end up killing himself. Watari stopped in front of a door and took out a key to unlock it.
"It's honestly a miracle that he's still alive if that's the kind of lifestyle he's leading. I'm surprised his brain even functions with so much sugar in his system!"
"Sakura-san, are you concerned about my health?" L asked. She hadn't meant for him to hear that.
"Don't flatter yourself. I'm concerned about everyone's health," Sakura replied and followed Watari into the room. "…Where is everyone?"
"They don't normally show up for a few more hours. Most of them are at the police station getting work done there. You're rather early," L explained.
Great, just her luck to be stuck with the raccoon-eyed asshole. At least the kind old man Watari was there too or else she might've just left and never came back.
"Lucky me," Sakura sighed. "Watari mentioned that you prepared a way for me to contact you from now on."
"Yes, we'll get to that, but first I'd like to know how you found our room when we didn't inform you of its location. Don't tell me it was just luck you ran into Watari," L asked.
"You're the genius, why don't you figure it out?" Sakura responded. He was always asking her questions, now it was her turn to test his abilities.
"No need," L said. "I already have a good idea on what you did."
"What's that?"
"Considering your personality and decent physical appearance, I'd say there's about a 70% you charmed the receptionist into telling you."
Did he just compliment her physical appearance? No, more important than that.
"Yeah, but it was kind of a longshot because I didn't know what name you put the room under."
"Indeed, you should've asked Watari last night on the phone," L replied.
Sakura had half a mind to flick him in that stupid, smug face of his, but...hey, what was stopping her from doing that? Stifling her wolfish grin, she leaned into L with her arms crossed behind her back, lifted her arm, and flicked him right in the nose. She had to admit that the look of absolute surprise was utterly becoming on L, especially since she was the one who caused it.
"You are a strange girl," L sighed, his surprise morphing into annoyance. Annoyed? What reason did he have to be annoyed? It wasn't often she became playful, he oughta be grateful to witness that side of her, let alone be the recipient of this playful behavior!
Wow, someone's haughty.
Yeah, you're right. It's better to be humble.
What a fast change of heart...
Sakura smiled, "You're pretty strange yourself. Anyway, I'd really like to discuss how to contact the two of you. If something were to happen..."
"Indeed," Watari stepped in. "The rest of the task force was prepared special belts, but since you're a teenage girl we assumed that you wouldn't always be able to wear a belt, so we prepared you a different way to contact us."
Belts? What were belts gonna do? Were they gonna throw them and hope it reached Watari and L? Watari opened up a nearby briefcase and pulled out what could only be described as the scariest panda cell phone strap Sakura had ever seen. She hadn't seen many before, admittedly, but the one in Watari's hand was so hideous it might've made babies cry. Instead of the cute little bear snout a panda was supposed to have, the panda in the cell phone strap's eyes were painted blood red and it had a huge smile consisting of huge, sharp teeth. Its belly was fat and round, so at least it somewhat resembled a normal panda. Sakura gazed at it in fascination.
"We figured a teenage girl would certainly be carrying around a cell phone at all times, so a cell phone charm seemed to be the best choice. This cell phone charm will allow Ryuzaki and I to track your location at all times. If you press the belly twice, like so, then my cell phone will ring," Watari said and pulled out his cell phone just as it started to ring, like he said, "and I will call you back right away. My number will not be displayed on your phone."
That explained the whole 'private number' thing, but there was one thing on her mind.
"That's great and all, in fact, it's a very efficient way for me to contact you without endangering Ryuzaki but...why does it look so creepy?"
Sakura heard L snort slightly, she turned her head to see if she'd heard correctly, but he had gone back to being as stone-faced as always. He turned away and started walking towards the boxes of donuts to help himself. Sakura frowned. She would have to remedy his terrible eating habits.
"What do you mean? I thought this style was popular nowadays. I heard that gothic merchandise was all the rage," Watari said, seeming genuinely perturbed by the information that the cell phone strap was not as 'hip' as he'd probably thought. Sakura laughed and she wasn't sure if it was because of that cute look of astonishment on his face or his attempts at using modern lingo.
"Well, it's popular in certain crowds, but I wouldn't call it 'all the rage'," Sakura giggled. "But it's fine. It's not there to look cute, it's there so I can contact you and you can see where I am."
Watari tried to hide his disappointment. Sakura had imagined Watari as more of a serious type, but it became apparent to Sakura that he just one big, kind grandpa. The two of them would get along great!
Watari's disappointment was short lived, as he appeared to return to his normal, serious self in only a few moments. He handed the charm to Sakura and she fastened it to her cell phone. It certainly stuck out in comparison to her pastel pink cell phone, but if anyone ever asked she could always just say it was an important gift from someone she knew. Sighing slightly, Sakura put her cell phone back in her purse.
"Sakura-san, would you care for a donut?" Watari offered. Sakura's eyes drifted over to the two boxes of donuts. She highly doubted L would miss one donut, and since Watari offered she wasn't about to turn it down. That peach had been tasty, but it hadn't been all that filling.
"Sure, I'd love one," Sakura replied and approached the boxes of donuts. They all seemed to be of different flavors, all of them glazed beautifully. Eventually Sakura picked up a jelly filled one and sat on one of the couches, of course a different one from L. She noticed he had two donuts in his hands, one of them with a thick chocolate glaze upon it and the other covered completely in sugar particles. She could see how they'd be appealing, but didn't he ever get tired of it? The reason sugary confections were so tasty to her was because they were a treat, something that she let herself earn, not something she'd just eat any day.
How he could stand to eat so much of it would forever be a mystery. Sakura took a nibble out of her donut and shifted her eyes to see L practically licking the glaze off of his donuts. She raised an eyebrow but didn't comment. How he chose to eat his sugary confections was up to him.
"Hey, Ryuzaki, can I ask you something?" Sakura questioned after taking one particularly jellyfilled bite of her donut. It was something that had been bugging her for a while, so she figured it would just make sense to ask him.
"Go ahead," L responded. Sakura could tell he was distracted by his donuts by the nonchalant, almost carefree, tone of his voice.
"I just want to know," Sakura sighed. "Are you trying to solve the Kira Case because you truly want justice or is just because you want to outsmart him?"
L didn't look up at Sakura from his donuts, he just kept lapping at them, occasionally taking an actual bite out of one of them.
"Is that the kind of person you think I am, Sakura-san?" L asked. "Someone who's only interested in outsmarting others?"
Realizing how bad he made it sound, Sakura quickly went to amend it, "Wait, that's not what I me-"
"Because you'd be right. I am childish and I like to win, but that doesn't mean I can't also want justice. So to answer your question, it's both," L interrupted. That was a fair enough answer. One that she should've expected.
"I see," Sakura replied and took another bite of her donut.
"Then allow me to ask a question of you, Sakura-san," L asked.
"Sure, what is it?" Sakura replied.
"Who was it that really taught you how to fight?" he asked.
Sakura sighed. He was still interested in that? Didn't he realize that she didn't have anything to tell him? She guessed that's why he was asking, because she didn't have an answer.
"I told you already; I'm self-trained," Sakura explained.
"Yes, I remember," L nodded, "but you are also a terrible liar and I don't appreciate dishonesty with someone I'm trusting my life with."
Sakura cursed to herself. Her lying skills weren't that bad, were they? As a kunoichi she ensured that she was able to hide the signs of lying, as it was an important part of her career...but there were also some signs that weren't quite so easy to cover up, and L was a genius. It was a real shame that she sucked at covering up her emotions. It was moments like these she wished she was more like Sai.
"Look, it's no one you would know," Sakura grumbled and came up with a halfway decent lie that L might actually buy. "Nobody's supposed to know that I know martial arts, and I promised my teacher that I wouldn't give out their name. They were reluctant enough to teach me, they don't have enough time to be taking on other students."
L's eyes flashed, revealing to Sakura that he didn't believe her, but he was giving up for now. He must've sensed that this was one subject that Sakura wasn't ready to open up to.
"Aren't you scared?" Sakura asked, her voice small.
"Of what?" L replied. He'd finished one donut and was now onto the deconstruction of the other one.
"Being killed, by Kira. I know you've seen your fair share of dangerous cases, but you've never shown your face before, right?" Sakura asked.
"Of course not," L replied. "I won't let Kira kill me. I will capture him and then see him executed."
And you call me haughty.
"What about you, Sakura-san? Aren't you afraid of being killed by Kira?" L asked.
"I probably should be," Sakura replied. "But people like Kira don't deserve my fear, nor my respect. So no, I'm not afraid."
"How brave of you."
"If no one puts their life on the line, then no one will learn anything. That's all there is to it."
"Some might think that's stupid of you to say."
"You included?"
"No. I think you're right."
Sakura smiled. The door opened and whatever moment she'd just shared with L shattered with the arrival of the task force. Time for work.
. . . . . .
Ugh, this chapter was not fun for me to write AT ALL. It got better towards the end though… In all honesty, the reason I feel like this is most likely because I'm writing it with only about 3 hours of sleep. As I write this all my body wants to do is take a nap, but I will not nap! I have a duty to finish this chapter and write as much as I can! Anyways, I'm looking forward to the day I make it to chapter 10! So exciting! Honestly, right now I'm really not sure what direction I want this story to go. A huge part of me wants to go back to the beginning and change a bunch of stuff, but I have to refrain from doing that because if I do it will literally change the entire story and with 7 chapters already written I cannot afford to rewrite all of them. I've made a couple mistakes in writing, timeline wise, but it would honestly be much more complicated to fix it than to just leave it as is. Technically speaking, everything pretty much works, but it only bothers me because it doesn't feel perfect enough. Oh well.
In other news, shameless promotion time. Of course not for myself, but for someone else. If you haven't played the lovely rpgmaker game 'Oneshot' already then do it RIGHT NOW! It is so, so, so good! Oh my god, it broke both my heart and brought a smile to my face. The little kitty…ahem, anyways, it's a fantastic game and I recommend it to everyone.
You know, I considered giving Ryuu-Ryuu a sister complex, but then I realized how truly horrifying that would be and this isn't the right story for that stuff. I'll save all of that for my other fanfiction.
Anyway, profile time! Who will be the victim today? Watari.

Time to answer some reviews.
X Mika-Chan X: Well, as you learned from this chapter, Sakura did NOT go to visit Light's father in the hospital. It was out of respect for his family and though Sakura is very interested in the way hospitals work, she doesn't want to impose on Light's family. Rest assured, in the future Sakura will most certainly be visiting the hospital and seeing how they works. As for Sakura's fighting skills, she's definitely on par with Tsunade at age 18. I wouldn't go so far as to say that she's surpassed Tsunade, but she is definitely equal to her shishou and has her own strengths separate from Tsunade. Maybe one day I'll delve into Sakura's fighting abilities in the world of Death Note, her medical skills will DEFINITELY be a huge part of the story, but her other skills probably won't be.
animagirl: No, you're incredibly right. Sakura is definitely being way too critical of Light, especially considering her own background. Sakura considers her actions forgivable because she always killed under orders or to protect herself or someone else. I've always found Sakura to be a little close-minded and stubborn, and though she's definitely matured with time, she still has these attributes. Worry not, I'll try to address this in the story. As for your idea…I'll definitely consider putting a scene like that in, it seems like it would be really interesting that way.
WildfireDreams: I think once this story is complete, I'm going to post one-shots involving Sakura and her friends, except in Honoka's case it'll probably be a multichaptered story. I'm glad to hear you're interested.
Alrighty, I'm gonna straight up say this right here because I've been getting a lot of reviews asking me to 'update soon' or 'update fast', and that's all well and good and I appreciate your enthusiasm, but it feels like maybe some people don't know or I didn't expressly say it so...here it is. Guys, I promised updates every two weeks and that's how it's gonna stay until school gets a little less hectic. 2 weeks may seem like a long time, and I get that, but rest assured that there will be a new chapter posted every 2 weeks on either Saturday or Sunday, and sometimes Mondays if I run out of time or I'm too busy. So yeah, no need to worry. I'm not gonna go on a 3 year hiatus again.
EDIT 6/20/2015: I took out an unnecessary dialogue and fixed some spelling errors.
