Heal Me
The Red String of Fate
To him, she was the most beautiful woman in the village. His eyes always found her from wherever he was, no matter who he was with, no matter the time and place, he always found her. Even if it took years, centuries or even in death. He would always find her.
Three days had passed since the storm and things had gotten better and even though they still had things to work out with each other, they both felt content with their current relationship status despite the worldly circumstances…..
She stood up the bow of the boat wrapped up in his embrace. His muscular arms lightly caressed her skin, spreading warmth through her body and summoning butterflies in her stomach. She allowed herself a smile and succumbed to his warmth.
"I love you, Sakura-chan," he whispered in her ear.
Her heart trembled at the deep timbre in his voice, her lips quivers and the butterflies in her stomach fluttered once again.
"I-I love you too, Naruto." she swooned, almost breathless. She closed her eyes as he pulled her back, tightening his embrace and peppering light kisses on her neck. His kisses were like keys, unlocking the dam to her feelings. Tears prickled at the corner of her eyes before rolling down her cheeks.
He stopped. "What's wrong Sakura?" His voice was filled with so much worry that a sob escaped her in an anguished cry.
"Why did we wait!?" she asked, "Why did we wait until something so drastic like the end of the world to finally be true to our feelings!?"
"Sakura-chan..."
"I wanted more time….." she whispered, afraid to finish the sentence.
They remained silent, the boat slowly rocking underneath the morning sun. He suddenly buried his face in her neck and she could feel sudden wetness. She gasped, ready to turn around be his hold kept her in place.
"Don't turn around.." he said.
His voice was muffled by her neck but she could still hear the pain in his voice.
"I miss my family," he started, his voice soft, "I will always love them.."
Her heart ached.
"But, I love you too. Right now, you're my family, lover, and all of the above. We were young and ran away from our feelings. We...we went our separate ways, got married and started families. But, sometimes we as people go through life loving people other than our soulmates and they go on without ever knowing the joy it can bring. Sakura, it may be the end of the world but we found each other and we're healing each other. Can't you feel our bond tingling underneath your skin? Amidst all of this chaos…..we found something worth living for...till the end."
She laughed, a fresh wave of tears falling. "When did you get so philosophical?" she asked through her tears.
"Years of being Hokage will make anyone philosophical." he chuckled.
She pulled out of his embrace and faced him. She reached up, planting both hands on his whiskered cheeks and stared into his ocean blue eyes. She smiled as she used her thumbs to wipe away his tears.
"I finally know what true love feels like thanks to you," she said softly, "I can feel what you feel," she placed her hand over his heart, "you're bursting with so much love that is overwhelming. If this is what it feels like to be with your soulmate… I don't ever want to leave."
His sudden smile light up her world.
"Good, because I was never going to let you go," he said before getting down on one knee. "Sakura..." he started.
Sakura gasped. "Naruto….." she paused, "are you sure you want to do this? What about your family? What about..." she finished, leaving the name unsaid.
Naruto shook his head and smiled up at her. "I haven't forgotten them but right now, it's you and I."
"Na-"
"Sakura, will you marry me?" Naruto asked, looking up at her with his largest grin.
She couldn't help but smile as more tears started anew. "Do you plan to make me cry so?" she asked with a frustrated tone despite her smile.
Naruto chuckled. "Only if it makes you happy, Sakura-chan."
She pushed all of her doubts and worries to the back of her mind. "Then I, Sakura Haruno, accept your proposal," she replied with a large smile.
"Don't you mean Sakura Uzumaki?" Naruto inquired with a raised brow, his lips quirking up into a smirk.
"I don't see a ring yet." Sakura shot back with a coy smile.
She suddenly squealed as Naruto scooped her up in his arms and peppered kiss all over her face. "You're the most beautiful girl in the world," he said in between kisses as he embraced her.
Sakura smiled and returned his embrace. "I love you so much, Naruto," she whispered before pressing her lips to his. She moaned as he deepened the kiss and he gently laid her down on the deck. He reluctantly pulled away and she stared up at the blushing man above her.
"I know you love me," he whispered, placing a hand over her heart. "because I can feel what you feel..." He pressed his lips to hers again.
It was all a blur for her. She wasn't sure whose clothes she was taking off but she succumbed to his overwhelming passion and love.
They made love underneath the sun, their naked bodies pressing against each other.
It was as if they were finally having their first taste of water after a long journey.
He found her and she found him.
It may be the end of the world for everyone else.
But for them…
It was just the beginning.
