Sorry for the super late update, but here it is. Enjoy!

Chapter Seven

It had been three days since Klaus and his siblings had left to deal with their 'business' outside of the city. Three days Caroline had spent cooped up in her room, watching people from her balcony as she tried to work out who were the vampires that Klaus had ordered to watch her.

"I can tell you who they are if you like, I figured it out a long time ago" A voice sounded from behind her and Caroline turned, a frown forming on her forehead before she rolled her eyes and returned to her current activity.

"Look Caroline, I know you don't like me and trust me, I'm not very fond of you either, but from what I've worked out, you're on my side" Hayley started, walking behind Caroline and copying her cross legged position on the floor. Caroline shifted slightly further away from her as she desperately tried to ignore her. "Cami isn't though" Hayley went on, earning a flash of curiosity from Caroline who finally looked at her.

"Carry on" Caroline sighed, her attention now solely on the wolf sitting in front of her.

"Look, we need to do something to draw her attention back to us. It's been three days and she still hasn't left the house, she must have forgotten about the graveyard." Sophie explained, walking around the house as they watched Caroline on the balcony. "Can't we just do something already?"

Davina frowned. "What do you want us to do? We aren't going to kill her, we just want Klaus to give us back the city, and I want to see how much she's worth to him" Davina explained, turning back to Sophie, a softer look in her eyes.

Sophie recognised hurt and she finally worked out that it was because Klaus killed the boy she loved that she solely wanted revenge and although she wouldn't kill Caroline, she wanted Klaus to lose everything, just like she had.

"So you're telling me that all those times I've seen you sneaking around, you've been following Cami?" Caroline repeated, confirming what Hayley had just explained.

"Yes, this is why I don't listen to Elijah or Klaus when they tell me she's on our side. I've seen her trying to sneak into your room and me and Rebek…"

"Wait? You and Rebekah?" Caroline interrupted, an sour tone to her voice.

"Yes, Rebekah doesn't trust her either and the night she found you, that was the night she was spying on Cami with me. But she came across you instead. Then you entered the complicated puzzle" Hayley explained, with a tone of annoyance, turning to look behind her as the door opened.

"Oh Hayley, I wasn't expecting to see you in here" Cami laughed, a forced laugh if that.

Caroline's eyes flashed with Hayley's before she got up and walked over to her bed, sitting down and smiling at Cami.

"We were just catching up" Caroline explained, silently keeping an eye on Hayley's movements. "What's up?" She asked, noticing as Cami relaxed slightly.

"I was just going to ask if you wanted to do something later, I know you've been cooped up in here since Klaus left and I thought we could go out for dinner or something" Cami explained, glaring slightly at Hayley who had walked up behind Caroline.

"We'd love too, wouldn't we Hayley?" Caroline turned, smirking at Hayley and winking before turning back to Cami, a huge smile on her face. "We're in!"

It had been a few hours since Caroline had agreed to go out for dinner with Cami and Hayley. An unusual trio at that, but Caroline hadn't told either of them what she was up too. She'd walked in on a war and somehow, within a day it had become all about her, she was the target now. She wasn't going to allow anyone to get hurt because of her and especially not Klaus.

Despite their differences, Caroline trusted Hayley with what she had said about Cami. She'd always got the impression that Cami didn't like her, she just hadn't figured out why. But now she had Hayley on her side and in a weird sense, Rebekah as well.

"Caroline are you ready?" Cami shouted from the courtyard below and Caroline nodded at herself in the mirror before flashing down to join them.

"I'm ready, let's go have fun!" She smiled, although the smile wasn't nearly as full as it should have been, had she of been going out for a girls night back home.

The night had definitely not turned out how they had planned. After dinner Caroline continued to buy Cami drinks and then suggested that they go out dancing. They'd gone to a little club just outside of the high street that was filled with alcohol, men and smoke. Caroline had compelled one of the men to dance with Cami and had even compelled the bouncer to not allow her to leave. That was the thing with humans, they were still able to get completely drunk and out of it.

After having danced around in the bar for what had seemed like hours, Caroline excused herself to go to the bathroom, leaving Cami in the arms of the man and Hayley at the bar, even though Hayley hadn't touched a drink all night.

She looked back one last time before slipping out into the night's sky, the fresh air filling her lungs as she blended in with the hundreds of people coming out to enjoy the night sky, many of them night walkers she was sure.

"Where are you going?" Hayley asked, coming up behind her.

Caroline stopped, rolling her eyes before turning back to Hayley. "I've just got to sort something out okay? I promise I'll stay out of trouble, just make sure you get home safe okay?" Caroline nodded before flashing off, knowing that Hayley wouldn't be able to keep up with her.

Hayley frowned as she pulled out her phone and dialled a number that had become so familiar to her now.

"Hey" She whispered. "I need your help"

Caroline's skin raised in small bumps as she arrived outside the graveyard. The air was cool and there was a slight breeze flowing around her. In any other circumstances she would have thought it was a beautiful place, but something felt eerie about it tonight.

"We didn't think you'd come back" Davina spoke, stepping out from behind a grave stone on the other side of the iron gates; the entrance to hell, Caroline thought.

"How did you know that I would?" Caroline asked, staying deadly still, her body unusually relaxed.

"You're curious, you like to be in control and you sensed the pull that this place had on you didn't you?" Davina asked, a slight smirk as she watched the girl.

"What is actually going on here? I know that you want revenge on Klaus for what he did to you, trust me, I understand that. But why this place? It's pretty and all but it doesn't seem anything special?"

Davina's eyes glowered. "Of course you wouldn't understand, this city has no meaning to you, you don't know of what's happened here. This is our home; this is where our ancestral power is. We can't leave here, but the vampires won't allow us to stay in peace either. Hence the war" Davina explained. For some strange reason, she liked Caroline; she just couldn't put her finger on why.

"I never did understand why some vampires had to be assholes, I mean honestly, get over yourselves" She groaned, her eyes rolling and she smiled as Davina laughed in front of her.

"We need to talk" Davina spoke, her face returning to its normal serious look.

"I agree"

"So you're telling me that all you want is the vampires to allow you to perform magic here, but they won't let you because you're going to do a spell that kills one of them? I'm presuming one of the originals? Can you really blame them for not trusting you?" Caroline asked, trying to piece together everything that Davina was telling her.

"No Caroline, the one that we want is the baby" Davina snapped, getting annoyed with how nosey she was and how she had to point out both sides of the argument all the time.

"What baby? You aren't making any sense" She cried, looking around at the creepy gravestones.

"Ah, so no one told you. You didn't seriously think that Klaus would protect Hayley for no reason did you?" Davina laughed, smirking at how naïve Caroline was.

"Wh-" Caroline started before her mouth closed and recognition hit her. Hayley was pregnant, with Klaus' child and that was the war she'd walked in on. They wanted to kill the baby, the baby that belonged to the love of her life and the girl who she had stupidly trusted.

"Unfortunately for you, you're Klaus' true love and you may or may not mean more to him than his baby. Which is why you're going to be collateral damage I'm afraid. It's nothing personal, I promise" Davina smirked reaching forward to grab Caroline who stepped back.

"You didn't seriously think I was stupid enough to come here without some protection did you? You're not the only witches in the world Davina and I got what I came here for, thanks for letting me in on your plan" She winked before flashing away and into the night.

She stopped running when she deemed the area safe to do so. She reached down to her phone to text Bonnie to say it had worked, she was so pleased she knew witches and anchors and a whole number of supernatural beings all ready to help her.

Slumping down on one of the fallen tree stumps she sighed. How was it even possible that a baby was the end product of this? This wasn't supposed to be allowed to happen.

She closed her eyes. How could this of happened? How had she managed to turn up into one of Klaus' sexual problems, into a place full of other women that seemingly meant so much to him? She was stupid to think she meant anything real to him, but then, even Davina had said she was his true love.

Either way it didn't matter, Hayley had lied to her when she had the perfect opportunity to tell her what was really going on. Once again, no one really cared about Caroline, as long as she helped them to get what they needed.

"Aww, well let me guess, you found out about the baby" A laugh sounded from behind her and Caroline growled, turning around to see someone she despised more than anyone.

"Katherine".
