Steve hadn't smiled since before Tony had decided not to do the callbacks with him. He avoided eye contact with everyone around him. He didn't see Peter and Clint walking towards him.

"Hey, Captain!" Peter smiled, only to get a cold glare returned to him and turned to Clint, "What's with Steve?"

"Don't worry about it," Clint mumbled to him. Clint was now realizing he and Bruce had made a terrible mistake, and they had to fix it.

Steve walked into the locker room and found all of his teammates waiting for him.

"Hey," He grunted to them.

"Hey, um…" Clint started, "We just had another team meeting…"

"Oh, wonderful!" Steve said sarcastically.

"We had a team meeting about how we haven't been acting like a team," Steve looked to them angrily and Clint held up his hands, "I mean us. Not you. About the singing thing…"

"I don't even want to talk about it," Steve snapped at them.

"We just want you to know that we're gonna be there cheering for you," Wade suddenly chimed in.

"Huh?" Steve asked confused, what the hell brought on this change of attitude?

"If singing is what you wanna do, we should boost you up, not tear you down," Peter said.

"Yeah. Win or lose we're teammates," Clint smiled, "That's what we're about, even if you turn out to be the worst singer in the world, which we don't know, because we haven't heard you sing." Steve smiled for a second, grateful for his friends' change of heart, then frowned.

"You're not gonna hear me sing, guys, cause Tony won't even talk to me...and I don't know why…" Steve looked at them suspiciously as they all looked to the floor.

"We do…" Clint said. Peter walked over to Steve.

"I baked these fresh today," Peter said as he handed Steve a box of chocolate chip cookies, "You'll probably want to try one before we tell you the rest…" Steve cautiously opened the box and took a bite out of a cookie as his friends told him what they did.

Tony walked into the chemistry lab to find the whole scholastic decathlon team waiting for him. Bruce stepped forward to him.

"Tony, we were jerks. No, we were more than jerks, because we were mean jerks. We thought Steve and the whole singing thing was killing our chances of having you on the scholastic decathlon team," Bruce explained. Clint had told him the outcome of their little stunt, and he felt awful about it.

"I heard what Steve had to say, I'm on your team now. Done," Tony said shortly. He really didn't want to talk about this.

"No, not done. We knew Clint could get Steve to say those things to make you want to forget about the callbacks. We planned it, and we're embarrassed and sorry!" Bruce explained.

"No one forced Steve to say anything. And you know what? It's okay," Tony lied, "we should prepare for the decathlon. It's time to move on." Tony started walking to a table to put his stuff down.

"No, it's not okay," Bruce said, grabbing Tony's arm, "The decathlon is...whatever! But how you feel about us, and even more, Steve, that's what really matters." Tony just pulled his arm away and started practicing equations. Bruce sighed and looked at the rest of the team in defeat.

That night Steve was standing outside of Tony's front door pacing. He knocked on the door.

"Hi, um...Just came to say that I'm sorry-" Steve muttered to himself, the door opened and a pretty girl with strawberry blonde hair stood in front of him, "Hi, Ms. Potts. I'm Steve Rogers." The girl's eyes lit up as she looked to the stairway where Tony was hiding.

"Oh Steve!" She smiled, then she saw Tony desperately mouth 'no' to her and her smile faded, "Um...Tony is kind of busy with homework, so now's not a good time-" Pepper started closing the door and Steve put his hand up gently to keep it open.

"I made a mistake, Ms. Potts, and I would really like to let Tony know that," Steve explained softly, he knew Tony was listening, "would you please tell him I came by to see him?"

"I will...Steve," Pepper smiled again slowly, "good night."

"Thank you," Steve said as Pepper closed the door. Well, time for plan B, Steve thought to himself. He opened the gate to the backyard and pulled out his phone.

Tony was sitting on his bed in his room when his phone started to ring. He looked at the caller ID and saw Steve's face smiling up at him. He really didn't want to pick it up, but Steve just wouldn't leave this alone. He sighed and pressed the answer button.

"Hello?" Tony barely said before Steve started speaking frantically.

"What you heard, none of that was true," Steve said as he walked around the backyard trying to find Tony's window, "I was sick of my friends riding up on me so I said those things to shut them up. I didn't mean any of it."

"You sounded pretty convincing to me," Tony sighed. He glanced outside and saw how dark it was. he turned on his lamp and Steve's eyes lit up. He found Tony's room. Of course he would have the room with the balcony.

"The guy you met on vacation is more me than the guy who said those stupid things," Steve said as he jumped up to the balcony effortlessly. It was times like this he was thankful for having the powers he had.

"This whole singing thing is making the whole school go insane. You said so yourself: Everyone's treating you differently because of it," Tony said.

"Maybe because I don't wanna only be the basketball guy. If they can't handle that, it's not my problem it's theirs." Tony didn't want to admit that he was starting to smile, but he kept going.

"What about Fury?"

"This is not at all about Fury. This is about how I feel, and I'm not letting my team down. They let me down. So I'm gonna sing...what about you?" Steve asked hopefully.

"I don't know, Steve," Tony sighed.

"Well, you need to say yes...because I brought you something…"

"What?" Tony was confused now.

"Turn around," Steve said simply. Tony turned around to his balcony doors and saw Steve smiling at him apologetically. Tony didn't know whether to swoon or to call the police. Tony slowly opened the door, not fully sure if that was a good idea. Steve inhaled deeply before singing.

"This could be the start of something new

It feels so right to be here with you...oh

And now looking in your eyes

I feel in my heart

The start of something….

new," Steve's heart was pounding as he pulled out the sheet music he had brought, "It's a pair audition...and there's only one person I want to sing this with...and that's you, Tony...so what do you say?" Tony just smiled at him, and that was enough for Steve.

At school the next day Tony and Steve's friends had a much better attitude towards them running off to sing together. They both ran into the music room and started rehearsing with Natasha. Loki and Thor were walking past the music room and stopped once they heard Tony and Steve singing.

"The two competitors of our being called back to the play with musical numbers do indeed sound rather impressive," Thor said. Loki walked away as Thor followed him.

"We have to do something," Loki declared, "okay, our callbacks are on Thursday and the basketball game and the scholastic decathlon are on Friday," Loki's eyes glistened with his scheme falling into place, "Too bad all these events weren't happening on the same day...at the same time." Loki smiled evilly at his brother, who only looked at him in confusion.

"That would not prove to be successful. Then the walking American Flag and the metal man with the glowing chest piece would not be able to partake in…" Thor drifted off and realized that was the whole point, "I am honored to have the privilege call you my dear brother."

"I know," Loki smirked as they walked straight to Coulson's office, or, as everyone else called it, the stage.

"I don't want to hear any more about Steve and that Stark boy!" Coulson snapped at Thor and Loki, who were constantly harassing him about those two, then he collected himself, "So, if you're telling me as co-presidents of the drama club that changing the callbacks would be what's best for our theater program...I might actually agree with you…"

"Is that a yes?" Loki smiled. Coulson walked away and Loki started singing to himself. He was soon followed by Thor. None of them had noticed Natasha crouching behind the piano, and none of them knew that she had heard everything.

Tony, Steve, and all of the friends walked as one group down the hall and they passed the bulletin board. They noticed a new piece of paper over the callback list for the play. It read: CALLBACKS DATED CHANGED TO FRIDAY AT 3:30.

"Callbacks are at the same time as the game?!" Steve practically yelled and looked at Tony, who was just as shocked.

"And the same time as the Scholastic Decathlon! Why would they do that?" Tony asked. Clint perched his neck out and looked around the hall. Sometimes it was hard for to not see him as an actual bird.

"I smell a rat named Coulson," Clint growled. Natasha suddenly appeared before the group.

"Actually, it's two rats, neither of them named Coulson," she chimed in. Clint looked at her.

"Do you know about this…" Clint asked before realizing that he had no clue who this person was, "small person?" Steve looked at him briefly. He really hoped that wasn't what he called everyone before knowing their names.

"Mr. Coulson thinks he's protecting the show, but Thor and Loki are only concerned with protecting themselves," Natasha explained. Clint pulled his bow off of his back.

"I swear you guys, you don't even wanna know what I'm going to do to those two self-centered alien asses!" Clint yelled before pulling an arrow out of his quiver. He was about to run down the hall to find Thor and Loki but Steve grabbed his arm.

"Nothing. We're not going to do anything to them, except sing, maybe," Steve said, he had a plan, "Now this will only happen if we all work together. Now who's in?" Everyone smiled at Steve and nodded.
