Chapter 6
Explanations
Jura paced in the small room that she had been given. The doors and walls were too thick for her to break without passing out. She and Lenora were both stuck. They could still feel each other and talk to each other, but neither could get away. Jura spent her time renewing her wards and Lenora scored her claws on the ground of her cell over and over again. After several hours, Jura sat on the cot in her cell, rubbing her forehead and trying to scrye Alagaesia. She wasn't having much success. The door began to swing inwards and she hastily severed the spell. The man with the red cape walked in and shut the door behind him. He stood across from Jura and they stared at each other for a long while. Jura noticed that he didn't have his hammer.
"Why are you here?" he asked in the ancient language, his words halting and badly pronounced. Jura shrugged.
"I did not try to get here. A portal brought me to this place and all I wish is to get home," she said. Thor understood about 10% of that. He tried again.
"Why are you here?" he asked again. Jura repeated her answer. This went on for at least a half-hour until Jura's patience finally broke. She rose and pointed a finger at Thor.
"Are you so intent on making me the wrongdoer that your ears are plugged?!" she screeched. "You speak my tongue, can you not understand it?!" Her eyes blazed with fury. Being a more unreserved elf, Jura was more prone to yell. Thor stood and walked outside as Jura began cursing in dwarvish, elvish, the human and Urgal tongues. She didn't stop until her better judgment got a hold of her and she ran out of curse words. The other Avengers tried with various degrees of success. Tony tried a translator based on Lord of the Rings. It semi-worked. Clint got nothing. Natasha and Jura had a shouting match and Bruce didn't try at all, not wanting the 'Other Guy' to get involved. Steve was polite and his gentlemanly self and basically he and Jura ended up playing, what seemed like, a combination of charades and Pictionary. Ironically, he got the most information. Oh, and Clint, Tony, and Steve all fell for Jura. Just saying.
…
"Ok," Steve said wearily. "I think the gist of it is that she and the dragon are connected and if one dies the other dies. So Thor, don't kill the dragon." Thor looked rather disappointed. "She and the dragon got sucked here by a portal, have no idea where they are and want to go home. I think." Tony sighed.
"Thank you Capsicle. And you got that information by drawing pictures and dancing around. I trust that so very much." Steve turned red, though from embarrassment or anger it wasn't certain.
"The point is," Clint said. "That none of us can get the whole story. We need someone who is fluent in that language, cunning, and skilled with their tongue." Thor winced.
"Friend Clint, if you add magic to the mixture, you have but one person on Asgard who fits that description." Tony paled.
"Oh no." Thor strode out to the open.
"Heimdall, open the Bifrost!" he cried. A beam of rainbow light shot down from the sky and Thor was gone. They waited for him to return. Tony, Bruce and Clint were playing poker while Natasha and Steve played chess. After a few hours, the Bifrost light reappeared. Thor approached and with him, another figure that the Avengers had never wanted to see again. They had their weapons out in a matter of seconds.
"Loki," Clint spat. The god of mischief was as smug as ever.
"Barton. You are not happy to see me. I'm not surprised." Loki turned to Thor.
"So, where is this creature that the mighty Thor needs the womanly magician to communicate with?"
"This way," Thor said grumpily. They all followed him to Jura's cell and Loki stepped in.
…
Jura jerked her head up as yet another person came in. She scowled and faced away from them. "I told you my story already. Leave me alone!"
"I haven't heard," said a quiet voice. Jura turned and drew in her breath. The man was raven haired and had exquisite features. He could have been an elf except his ears weren't pointed. His voice sent a chill down her body.
"Who are you?" she asked. She sensed magic around him. He gave a small smile.
"I am Loki of Jotunheim. And I have been asked to talk with you."
:) Bwahaha! Loki and Jura alone in a room, both have magic, and both have tempers…what will happen? Review please or Lenora or Saphira will eat you!
