A/N: This was supposed to be posted yesterday but somehow I couldn't even visit this site because of my location. It's really weird. Anyway I haven't written for this couple for two years already (wow!). I'm sorry about that. I still haven't forgotten about them, though. It's just my ideas don't come as often as they used to in the past. Anyway I hope you enjoy this and don't forget to comment.

Disclaimer: Every character involved in this chapter (maybe except the spider) is owned by JK Rowling. I merely borrowed them.

WHAT WIVES ARE FOR

"Rose darling, can you please wake your daddy up?"

The person being asked looked up from her toys scattered around the carpeted living room. She nodded enthusiastically upon hearing the request and got up from her seat. She ignored her mother's request about not running around the house and did exactly that. She giggled, causing the older woman to sigh and shake her head in amusement.

Rose arrived at the closed door leading to her parents' bedroom. Still panting, she opened it wide and let herself in. She didn't have to knock because she knew her father would still be in his dreamland. And she was right as she saw a visible lump on the bed. She could hear a loud snore here and there, causing her to smile widely.

She tiptoed towards the sleeping figure, wanting to surprise him. She placed her left hand in front of her lips so she wouldn't let out a giggle. She climbed in behind her father quietly.

"Daddy, wake up!" she repeated the sentence and then started jumping on the bed several times. She knew the acts would annoy him to the point that he might scold her afterwards. But if it involved food, he would appreciate the wakeup call instead. She knew how much he loved eating.

But to her disappointment, her father groaned and said, "Ugh, Rosie. Daddy needs to sleep more." And he even pulled up the blanket to his chin to get more comfortable. He started snoring again.

She puffed up her cheeks and fell to her knees, making the bed bounce. Looking determined, she shook his torso as hard as her small hands would allow her. "No, daddy need to wake up. It's breakfast." She shook him again and received another groan. "Daddy."

"10 more minutes."

She started to feel irritated because of his stubbornness to stay asleep despite the fact that he had to go to work that morning. She contemplated between staying there and attempting to do everything to wake him up or going back to the kitchen to get her mother who would know what to do. But she thought she could do this without her help.

She decided to just stay still. She reckoned her father would wonder why she didn't resume her antics and then wake up by himself. That's what her mother would always do to her in the first place, anyway.

To her satisfaction, he turned to the other side where Rose was sat in the middle of the bed with her little legs crossed. With only one eye opened, he looked at her sleepily. "You are really Hermione's daughter." He gave her a lopsided smile.

She took his hand and started tugging at it. "Let's go, daddy."

"Pull me up, then." Ron turned to lie on his back and spread his arms out to make it easier for his daughter to do so.

Rose giggled and stood up from her seat, hovering over him with her legs on each of his sides. She grabbed the outstretched arms and took several deep breaths to prepare herself for the weight that was to come. With all her might, she then pulled him up.

Or at least, tried to pull him up. "You're – heavy, daddy." She was left breathless so she dropped him back to the bed.

Ron laughed wholeheartedly despite the fact that he was just disturbed from his sleep. "You can do it. You're a strong girl, aren't you, Rosie?"

She nodded and took deep breaths once more. She liked the challenge and she felt that she could lift her father up from the bed. She had to be able to do it because her mother had asked her. She didn't like being unable to finish a request, no matter how petty it was.

So she pulled him up. This time, she succeeded to at least lift him up a few centimetres off. That caused her to giggle and him to laugh. But alas, the distance between the bed and the father did not increase even if she used strength to do so. This caused her to pout and him to laugh again.

"Daddy. You're doing this on purpose." To make a point, she stomped one of her feet against the bed. She let go of him none too gently and crossed her arms in front of her chest to show him that she was angry. The irritation made its appearance again because he was being annoying and was not helping her at all.

He smiled lopsidedly and stretched out his arms again. "Okay, okay. Daddy will get up properly now." He looked to the right where a clock was located and he noticed that he would be late if he didn't have his breakfast soon. He winced and turned to her again. "My stomach is singing already."

The sides of her mouth were turning upwards, causing him to do the same as he succeeded in making the scowl on his daughter's face disappear. She then finally uncrossed her arms and started to pull him up. This time, he relaxed his limbs so that it would be easier for her. And in no time, they were walking towards the kitchen with Rose safely up in his arms.

"Finally, the Sleeping Beauty is here."

"What's that?" Ron queried as he placed a kiss on his wife's temple. He then put his daughter down on the high chair located near the dining table. "What's 'Sleeping Beauty'?"

Hermione smiled as she took a seat beside Rose. "A princess who was cursed and could only wake up if a prince kissed her." She then turned to him, a twinkle visible in her eyes.

"But Rosie didn't wake me up with a kiss," he replied as he shook his head. "She kept on jumping on the bed." He then turned to the toddler who was currently having an orange juice and tousled her hair affectionately. "And then she turned into you."

"Hmm? What do you mean?" She then started her breakfast which consisted of sausages and mashed eggs with a cup of tea on the side.

Ron diverted his attention to his wife once again. "She just stayed on the bed, not doing anything. You do that to her every time, so I reckon she thought it would work on me too."

"Which it did, I assume."

"Of course, that's why I'm already up." He then started digging in.

The housewife snorted and shook her head, feeling amused. "Anyway thank you, Rosie, for waking your daddy up." This time, it was her turn to ruffle the youngest person's hair. "It'll be your task now from tomorrow onwards."

The little Weasley didn't understand so she looked up from her small plate and tilted her head at her mother. Her mouth was full of cereal and she clearly remembered not to talk when eating or she would get a scolding. So she just blinked several times, in hopes that Hermione would explain further.

Being the brilliant witch that she was, she did. "From tomorrow morning, it is your duty to wake daddy up. You did a good job today."

Rose giggled and continued her breakfast, followed along by the other two.

But just because they were having their meals, it didn't mean that they would stop talking. It was never quiet around that house, except at night during sleeping time. With Ron and Hermione as parents, Rose was always surrounded with noises – and of course, love. It got even livelier when their relatives came to visit.

"Oh, bloody hell!" was suddenly heard coming out of Ron's full mouth, spluttering some of the eggs out.

"Ronald!"

He gulped, but not because he was afraid of Hermione. "I'm sorry, but there's ... oh, Merlin!" He quickly stood up from his chair, causing it to creak as it moved backwards. He reversed a few steps back, fear clearly shown on his face. "There's something on my plate!"

"Your breakfast," she replied ridiculously since it was an obvious answer. "Sit down and finish it. You're going to be late for work."

He shook his head instead, still looking at his plate on top of the dining table. "Hermione love, I'm serious. There's something there other than my breakfast!" He couldn't believe that his own wife couldn't see what he saw.

Feeling annoyed at his childish act, she rolled her eyes as she groaned and stood up slowly to see what exactly caused his behaviour to be so. She suddenly widened her eyes and a soft gasp was uttered. "I see we have company."

"Hermione," Ron whined. "Take it out! I'm still hungry."

As the older couple continued to fight in front of her, Rose looked up from her own plate to know what caused this current situation to happen in the first place. She ignored the loud noises because she was used to hearing it every day. It's like not a day passed by without a fight from her parents.

But before she could even attempt to stand up from her high chair, she saw something crawling out of her father's plate. Her eyes went wide at the sight of the spider. But since she was nothing like him, Rose welcomed it with applause and a cheer. She thought it was amazing how it could end up on Ron's plate, of all things in the whole house.

"No!"

She immediately looked up and saw his frightened face, him now standing far away from the table. She was confused: why he was so scared of such a tiny animal. So she voiced her question out to him.

"Something happened to me when I was a child, Rosie," he answered, not even looking at her. "And I'd rather not elaborate on that right now." He suddenly twitched. "Hermione."

The mother rolled her eyes and reached out her hand towards the spider that was surprisingly not going anywhere. Maybe she did something, nobody knew. But Ron was glad that he knew this woman and she could save the day. He kept his eyes on her as she stood up and walked to the window near the sink to gently throw it away.

He let out a breath, relieved that it was gone. He slowly returned to his seat as if scared that it would come back. He had to eat quickly if he wanted to go to work on time. So he did, but only after he asked his wife to check his plate – and other utensils, including hers and the daughter's – just in case.

After he finished everything in a lightning speed, he dashed to their bedroom to get ready. Hermione couldn't even say anything to remind him to be careful. She could only shake her head and continued her breakfast.

She then turned to her daughter. "Darling, be a good girl and finish your meal," she said. "We're going to The Burrow after you take a shower."

Rose looked up and nodded enthusiastically, making her mother laugh and pat her head. She proceeded to eat her breakfast fast like her father did, but that only resulted in choking. Hermione had to tap on her back gently and made her drink the juice to soothe the constant coughs.

"Don't copy your daddy. He has to hurry because he has work. We still have time."

Just like his sudden disappearance to prepare for his morning routine, Ron was already marching back to the dining room with his bag in hand. If it wasn't because of the time, people would have thought that he might have just changed his pyjamas to his working clothes. He just set his fastest record of getting ready. But being him, he was still messy.

Hermione clicked her tongue at him and got up to stand in front of him. "After all these years, you still can't get your tie right." She then started to fix him up. "Or is it all done on purpose? So that you can ask me to do it for you?"

He smiled lopsidedly. "You know it, love."

Despite his ridiculous reply, she returned his smile and shook her head. "But I'm glad that you do. I always think that doing this is the most intimate thing between couples."

"What is?"

"Tying a tie for her man," she answered just as she finished her current task. She ran her fingers through his soft hair and he was good to go. "There; all handsome and ready."

"All thanks to you." He gave her a peck on her lips. "Bye." He then crouched in front of her and placed both of his hands on her swollen stomach. "I love you, baby." He stood up and walked to his first child who was now eating her breakfast slowly. "Hey, Rosie?"

The little girl stopped what she was doing and looked up.

"Take care of your mummy like always, okay?"

She nodded. "Yes, daddy!"

Ron smirked and kissed the crown of her head, whispering his love to her. He tousled her hair once more before going to the fireplace just nearby, followed by Hermione behind him.

"We'll be at The Burrow for the whole day," she informed him.

"Then shall I pick you two up later?" he asked as he turned around to face her. "We can even have dinner there. I'm sure mum and dad won't mind."

"I'll tell Molly."

He nodded his head and pulled her close as much as he could. He had to go soon but he would never forget to kiss her goodbye. It has been a routine since they started dating and he has never missed this chance except when he was away. It would feel like something was amiss if he did.

"You know, I never got to thank you for taking the monster out. So, thank you."

She softly hit his chest and smiled lovingly at him. "You're exaggerating but you're welcome." She encircled her arms around his neck and looked up. "What wives are for, right?"

He jokingly nodded to agree with her but he got another hit, causing him to laugh. "Anyway, I have to go now. I'll see you later." He gave her a long kiss as if Rose wasn't in the same room. But he didn't care because the little girl was still busy finishing her meal. "Love you."

After the same thing from her was heard, he placed another kiss on her forehead before letting go of his grip. He then took a handful of Floo powder and shouted his destination, tossing the powder into the fireplace. And then he was gone.

Hermione turned around to go back to the table. Her daughter was almost done with her breakfast, causing her to smile in relief because then they could go to The Burrow. It's not that she didn't love the house; it's just that with her pregnancy, she would love more company just in case. She wasn't due for another month but she preferred to be with someone who was experienced in this matter.

"Mummy, look!"

She looked up from her own meal and saw her daughter holding up her spoon on one hand and the empty bowl on the other. She reached out her hand to place it on Rose's cheek, running her thumb on her philtrum to clean off some milk residue. "Go to the bathroom first. I'll be with you in awhile."

"Story time!"

Ever since Rose was born, her parents had always told her stories; be it fiction or non-fiction. Hermione usually told her fairytales from both Wizarding and Muggle worlds. On the other hand, Ron told her interesting things that happened in his childhood. But it was never about spiders. Just thinking about it made him queasy.

Then, it hit Hermione: Rose still hasn't known the cause of his arachnophobia. Her husband would certainly not tell their daughter anything about it, while she hasn't had the time yet because most of the times, Rose would choose which book to read from. Since the time was right – they just saw a lost spider after all – she decided to let her know of her father's fear.

"I'll tell you daddy's spider story."

The daughter's eyes lit up at the mention of story. She really loved hearing them, no matter who the storytellers were. Even if it's from the television, she would still hear it intently as if the narrator was in the same room. If she could already read, she would probably get a book and read it out loud to herself. She might even get her stuffed animals and sit them in front of her to pretend that they were her audience.

That thought made her giggle.

"Okay, off you go."

Rose woke up from her imagination and ran towards the bathroom. But she heard her full name coming out of her mother's mouth, a warning that she also heard earlier this morning about running inside the house. So she slowed down to a stroll and made her way to her destination. She could hardly wait for Hermione to join her. She would finally know what happened to her father.

A/N: The ending might be a bit off. And believe me when I say that I had to revise that part for more than twice. Anyway I hope you enjoy and please feel free to comment. Thank you.
