Hello everyone!
How have you all been? I know it's been awhile but I finally have another chapter up.
It may not be much, however, I'm just getting back into the story...
Oh and thank you for those you reviewed! That means so much to me especially when I almost abandoned the story.
So thank you for those who are still willing to follow along with this. (:
I know I haven't really described Aislinn but I did place an image of her up (It's on my profile page).
Again thank you all so much!
Now on with the story... Hope you enjoy it! (:
Disclaimer: I do not own any rights to True Blood. However I do own this plot and OCs.
You know when people say their life flashes before them before they die? Well Aislinn was pretty sure that happened to her, but thank the spirits Godric had placed himself between her and the fanged monster. Eric had made it half way across the room in a flash before Godric told him to halt and put his hand out. It was odd how one arm, which Eric could probably snap in half, could create such a safe distance. And distance was definitely a great thing at the moment.
Eric was still in a lunging position, fangs sparkling and ready to draw blood. Yet he didn't move an inch and his eyes stayed glued to his creator. There was some telepathic conversation going on, but Eric gave her a little hint of what it was about. "You don't need a pet," he growled making her shrink back from the insult. He really had a way with words.
Godric's stare hardened and his raised hand soon grabbed her arm. "Eric, did you not bring her to me? Were you not the one whom left her in my care?" There was no emotion in his voice but he stepped closer dragging her along. Eric straightened his back and scowled because he knew Godric was right. "Now retract your fangs," Godric finalized making Aislinn shiver; she had seen him snap a few times but the aura around him radiated dominance. The Viking did as he was told but the glare he sent her pretty much said he wasn't through with her.
"Stop," Godric commanded making his child's eyes snap to his, "Eric why have you come at such an hour?" Eric ran a hand through his hair and stated, "It's not for the ears of the blood bag." Aislinn flinched feeling as if he had slapped her in the face. Godric's hand tightened on her arm before he placed her in front of him, "You may say whatever you like in front of my human." The made the blonde vampire's eye twitch in annoyance but he spoke, "The queen came by requesting I provide space for V shipments."
The tension in the room was lifted a tad with the subject change but the sour taste still loomed. "We will finish this discussion later, you may leave now child," Godric responded closing up any room for further conversation. Eric's shoulders went stiff from the simple dismissal Godric had given him. And by the look on his face he wasn't use to the cold shoulder. He left the room with a low snarl making the young woman collide with Godric's chest. Aislinn had come to the conclusion she wouldn't see nineteen; she'd die from a heart attack if situations like this kept popping up.
Her heart hammered in her ears as she felt Godric's grasp slip but he only pressed into her a bit more. "I am sorry Aislinn. Forgive Eric he's not one for sharing." Her senses were coming back to her and a tingle ran up her spine from the close proximity. Her voice couldn't be found to respond to him though. The shock of Eric almost draining her hadn't completely disappeared yet. The vampire turned her so they were face to face; that cold stare he pierced at Eric had been replaced with worry. Hesitantly Godric ran a hand through her long blonde hair making her wide eyes close from the comfort. He took a step back once her breathing became normal and her pulse slowed.
Aislinn opened her eyes to meet Godric's stormy ones. He was going through so many emotions at once that she couldn't keep up. The staring contest broke when there was a knock on the door. Godric walked towards his desk while Aislinn glanced over her shoulder to see a displeased Isabel. "Godric get a handle on that progeny of yours. He's destroying my backyard." It was almost amusing to think of Eric having a hissy fit out back. "Please excuse me," Godric said vanishing. Isabel cocked an eyebrow, "I'm guessing this is because of you?" The human gave a sheepish smile before shrugging; Isabel shook her head and rolled her eyes, "Men, they never change."
Hours had gone by and the sky was starting to glitter with light. Aislinn had gotten lost in the book 'The Secret Garden' and was sprawled out on the couch. She would have been in bed but after the events that had taken earlier she couldn't find herself tired enough. Adrenaline still coursed through her veins; reading usually helped calm her thoughts. Wonder struck her, but it wasn't her own. Peering up she saw the man who saved her life twice now. "Why aren't you in bed?" His voice was warm and he seemed to have blown off some of his own steam. Maybe he bashed Eric around? The damn Viking needed a good beating. "I could say the same to you," she muttered as her attention went back to the chapter.
If she were looking at him she would have seen him cock his head and pinch his eyebrows together. Godric soon had her attention again as he stole the book from her hands, "Hey!" She sat up on her knees in a huff. Godric's eyes shown with mischief, was he attempting to fool around with her? Her eyebrows rose, "Seriously, give it back." The vampire leaned against the side of the couch and started to read the chapter she was on, "Manners little one." Aislinn's mouth fell open; what did he think he was doing? "Please give it back?" It came out more as a question because she was unsure what he would do next. His eyes darted to hers and she was sure the corner of his lips tugged upward. He was playing with her!
Godric seemed to ponder on her words before passing the book of literature back to her. However, he didn't let go when she tried to tug it from his grasp. "Godric-" She started to whine but was cut off, "Are you alright?" His voice was laced with concern yet still held lightness. Aislinn knew what he was talking about and of course she was a little shaken, but after the Stan incident she was pretty much indestructible. Or at least she thought so.
"Yeah, I'm kind of use to vampires trying to kill me," His eyes darkened from hearing her honest answer and the book slipped from his fingers. Godric was about to say something but she stopped him, "I'm fine. It's over and I don't want to talk about it." The man sighed as he dropped to the couch beside her and questioned, "Will you read to me?" Aislinn's eyes widened, but she started a new sentence aloud making Godric lean his head back and listen to her voice.
It was strange how Godric tried to apply himself in whatever she did. He always indulged her and it never failed to surprise her. She had never met a man like him.
I'm not too sure about this chapter, but again, I'm just getting back into the swing of writing.
Please review, just so I know to keep up with this story... And even if you have ideas or questions!
Anything is fine. :)
