We will get more into their friendships soon enough as well as the spark between Jack and Rapunzel. Please review what you like about this story or have any questions! One thing I will say: Danny won't get a dragon of his own. Sorry. He and Toothless will just be good friends.
"Danny, honey, where are you?" A beautiful woman with long black hair called. Her green eyes shifted about as she was searching around the small furniture. She gave a sigh even though she was pretending to be clueless. A small smirk was upon her face as she pondered for a moment, "Oh where could my little boy be?"
She heard soft giggling coming from the large cabinet. She grinned before she turned and rushed over to open the doors. Inside was a laughing white haired small boy. He gave a squeal when he saw her smiling down at him.
"There he is!" The boy rushed out just before his mother could grab him, "Danny, it's time for bed." She called after him patiently.
"But I'm wide awake, mommy!" Danny retorted and he continued to dart just out of her reach.
His mother merely smiled and chased after her son. She knew it wouldn't be long until his energy was gone. She was a wise mother after all. After about an hour, Danny slowed down and she caught him, "I got you now."
"Awe mommy!" Danny pretended to be upset but he started laughing when her hands tickled his sides.
"Now that I caught you, it's time for bed, sweetie." She stopped and kissed him on the forehead. Danny yawned and allowed his mom to carry him to his bed.
She had him dressed up in his pajamas and tucked him into bed. Danny grasped the necklace he always wore and looked up at his mother. He could see the distant sad look on her beautiful face. He frowned and decided to ask, "Mommy?" she looked into his eyes, "Will daddy ever come back?"
She blinked and gave a deep sigh, "I'm sure of it." She managed a sweet smile. Danny nodded and asked quietly,
"What was he like?"
She chuckled and replied, "He was…a great man. Handsome and charming. He was also proud and knew how to stand on his own. He was confident but it was funny. He was so nervous when you were born," she put her fingers through Danny's white hair, "But I know that he loves you."
"What did he look like?" Danny questioned as he was about the brink of falling asleep. He was only three when his father went away and his mother recalled what her husband looked like before sailed out on the seas.
"He had…strange hair. Black yet he had maroon highlights and blond fringes. And he had dark violet eyes that seemed to look deep into your soul." She replied slowly.
Danny closed his eyes and was about to fall asleep when…a loud thud was heard from the front door. The boy gasped as he sat up and his mother ran towards the door. She peeked out the window and gasped when a voice shouted through the door,
"Open up, Bast! I know you're in there!"
"Oh no…" she turned and hurried back to where her son was still in his bed, "Danny come on!" she urged and took her son's hand.
"Open this damn door, you stupid bitch!" Another loud thud was heard from the door and it looked it was about to burst open.
"Mommy what's going on?" Danny asked and he was feeling really frightened now. The man behind the door sounded scary.
Bast didn't answer and came to a wall that Danny had seen many times. It had strange decoration with a gold lion symbol and holes for its eyes. He watched as his mother felt around quickly and made a magic door open. It was a secret compartment that was only small enough to hold a child. "Get inside now, Danny!" She urged.
"But mommy…!"
There was a loud crash and it was clear the door was going to give away with just one more hit, "Get in now, Danny!" she pulled her son inside and before she closed the wall, she said with tears in her eyes, "No matter what happens, I want you to stay in here. Do not make a sound and do not try to come out of here."
"Mommy?" Danny asked and tears began to run down his cheeks. He didn't like the tone in her voice or the tears in her eyes. He really had no idea of what was going on or why someone was banging their front door. She kissed him on the forehead and held his cheeks.
"Be safe, Danny. I love you and always will. Remember, stay in here."
There was a sharp bang and the front door was forced open. Without another word, Bast closed the hidden door, "Mommy!" He peeked through the holes and could see his mom turn to run out of the room. But she was stopped by a large man appearing in the doorway.
"All right, you good for nothing bitch, where is it?"
"I don't know what you are talking about." Bast replied coolly.
"You know exactly what I'm talking about. The necklace your husband Atem gave to you. I've been looking for it ever since he took it from me! Now where is it?"
Danny gulped. The man was larger than his mother by a good few feet. He had long stringy blonde hair and wearing a black coat. But the one thing that made him stand out and also had Danny shivering was the evil red eyes. However, despite his intimidating glare, Bast continue to stand her ground. She gulped and kept her own glare in place. The small child didn't know what necklace this man was talking about. He self-consciously gripped the one he was wearing.
"I don't have it. And even if I did, I will never let you have it. You came to wrong place. My husband has been missing for seven years and I haven't seen him since. I suggest you go before Queen Gothel's guards discover you." Bast's even tone voice was making the evil looking man's glare harden.
"You lie. You have it somewhere around here and I will find it. That and your only child." Bast's green eyes widen and the man's evil smirk spread, "Oh, you didn't think I know you and your worthless husband had a son? Big mistake on your part. This is what happens when someone crosses me." In a flash, he took out a knife. Bast managed to dodge and try to fight him off. However, she was no match for the giant of a man compared to her petite size.
The man had no problem driving the knife straight into her abdomen. Danny wanted to scream but it wouldn't matter. Besides, if he made any noise, the man would find him. Bast gave out a gasp and she slumped to the floor while holding her wound.
"Pitiful you will never see your husband again. Now if you will excuse me." The man walked over Bast's fallen body and began to look around the house.
Danny thought there was a couple of times he would find the hidden room he was currently in. He ducked out of sight whenever the man looked towards the wall. He could hear him crashing around and making the place a mess. Finally he came back and he spat down to where Bast lay dying,
"You miserable piece of shit. I will find that necklace, your son, and your husband. And when I do, I will make those two suffer before I kill them. You're lucky I didn't torture you. Take care." He laughed evilly before he walked away.
Danny heard him leave and he shivered. He watched his mom gasping for air on the floor. He waited for a good few minutes to make sure the man wouldn't return, before he opened the hidden door. He was by his mom's side in an instant.
"Mommy! Mommy!" he pushed on her shoulder. There was blood everywhere and Bast's green eyes were nearly dim, "Mommy…"
"D-Danny…it's okay…" Bast managed to whisper and placed her hand on the side of her son's face.
"But mommy…" Danny shook his head.
"Be safe, sweetie…when…you see your father…tell him…I…l…love him…I love…you…Danny…be…g…good…" Was her last words before her eyes closed forever.
"Mom!" Danny sat up in a start. He looked around and realized he was in his bed. From the way he was slowly rocking, it made him realize he was on a boat. That was right, he and Rapunzel were not on Corona anymore. He closed his eyes that was bent on leaking with tears and he rubbed his white hair. He was sweating badly from the nightmare he had been having.
It was actually more of a memory. His mother, Bast, being killed by that large man with blond hair and evil red eyes. It was because of him he had become an orphan and lost his mother. He never knew his name and he really wished he did. The only clue he had was finding his father and…the necklace his dad gave him. He looked down and took a look at it despite it being dark in his room.
It was honestly a strange necklace. He thought over when the evil man demanded his mother for a necklace that his father stole from him. Could it be this was the necklace he was looking for? He sighed while gripping it. He also recalled how it seemed to glow when Rapunzel was being taken from the guards. He frowned at another thought. If the necklace hadn't told him about Rapunzel, he might not have gotten to her in time. He wanted answers and that lay in finding his father who was out there somewhere. He can only hope that evil murder hadn't found him first.
Danny didn't feel so sleepy anymore. He really didn't want to deal with that nightmare again. It wasn't like he had it every night but when he did, he hated seeing his mother being killed again. He remembered when he had the nightmare a few times and Rapunzel would come in to comfort him. He got out of the bed and walked to the door. He peeked out and didn't see anyone about. Putting on a shirt that wasn't bloodstained, he walked up to the upper deck. He could see a few men, which were on the night shift, were nearby snoring. He smirked and felt the sea wind blow gently on his face when he was on the main deck. The sun was just starting to rise and he sighed.
Every time he had a nightmare back at Corona, he would always walk out of the cottage and stare out the sea. It seemed to calm him just by viewing something so serene and peaceful. This was no exemption. Only difference was, he was now out on the sea. He walked over to the starboard and leaned against the railing. It was still hard to believe he was now on the ocean on a ship. He wondered when he should tell Captain Merida about his father. He closed his eyes to continue to relax and the memories of the nightmare seemed to fade when he felt something bump against his side.
Danny frowned and opened his eyes to see who it was. He nearly jumped to see it was the night fury dragon Toothless staring at him with his intelligent green eyes. The boy was by now used to the dragon and he cleared his throat, "Uh hi. Did I wake you?" he asked casually.
Toothless merely cocked his head to the side. Danny sighed and shook his head.
"If you're wondering if I'm okay, yeah. I just…I had a nightmare. Not a big deal. I just needed to get some fresh air that's all." Danny shrugged and nearly laughed out loud. He was talking to a dragon. How strange was that? Toothless in turn let out a soft growl and sat back on his hunches. He was now eye leveled with Danny and the boy in turn stared back at him.
"You're one strange dragon. I mean, you're the first dragon I ever met. Still, do you all act like this?" Danny turned to face Toothless.
The night fury blinked and leaned his head towards him slightly. The white haired boy held out his hand and Toothless leaned further before his head contacted with Danny's outstretched hand. Danny took this time to rub the smooth scales of Toothless's head. He was touching a living breathing dragon. He felt his inner child bubble up since he remembered his mother telling stories about dragons. He always wanted to meet one and now was his chance. This was downright cool.
"Wow, I never seen Toothless like strangers so fast. He only ever let me or Carrie get near him. It took some time for him to get used to Merida, Jack, and the other crewmembers. Wonder what you got that he likes so much. Do you have fish hidden in your clothes or something?"
Danny jumped this time and turned to see Hiccup standing not too far away from him. Toothless let out a playful growl and bounded over to his master. Despite Toothless taking a liking to Danny, Hiccup will always be his first ever close friend. Hiccup in turned greeted his dragon with their usual play. Danny found the sight rather both strange and amusing. He smiled as he watched the brunet and dragon rough house for a few minutes before Hiccup turned toward the newest crew member.
"To answer your question, no, I don't have any fish. Besides I hate fish." Danny shook his head and Hiccup shrugged.
"I was being sarcastic. But yeah. Don't care for fish either; especially when Toothless made me eat his share the first time I met him." Danny blinked at the last statement and Hiccup shook his head, "Forget it. So, why are you up so early? I figured after what went on last night, I would think you would sleep real late."
Danny's small smiled disappeared immediately and he glanced off towards the ocean, "I…I don't know. I guess all the excitement of finally being on a ship kept me from getting the sleep I need. I just thought I come up here and experience the sea air with the sun rising." He was half lying. The nightmare may have woke him up, but he did want to come out and see the ocean from a ship's point of view. Besides, he had only met Hiccup. He wasn't exactly comfortable enough to tell him about his personal past just yet.
"Oh. Guess that makes sense. Well maybe it's a good thing. I do know Merida probably wants to see what you can do. She had seen what Rapunzel is capable of doing. Jack mentioned you had your own unique abilities?" Hiccup asked curiously. Dragons may have been his main interest, but he also found other things fascinating. After all, his younger sister can control water to some extent and Jack had the ability to freeze things and make ice.
Danny turned back to the older boy and gave him a shrug, "I…I do. Yeah. But it's not something I go showing off."
Hiccup nodded and rubbed his hair, "It's okay. You don't have to show me right now. I will be seeing you do it anyway."
Danny blinked at this comment, "What do you mean?"
"Like I said, Merida is gonna want to see what you can do. When she gets up, the first thing she is gonna do is ask what kind of powers you have."
Hearing this made Danny frown even more. He wasn't sure if this was a good or a bad thing. Did he really have to show off his powers just because the captain of the ship said so? However, after seeing how feisty she was, he knew he didn't have any position to question her. Not to mention she allowed him and Rapunzel to come on board. He had been busy pondering when he realized something in Hiccup's statements,
"Uh Hiccup, why do you keep calling the Captain just by her name?" he asked innocently and Hiccup's tan freckled face suddenly turned bright red.
"Well I…"
"That's because he and the Captain are tight. Really tight." Danny and Hiccup turned to see Jack emerge onto the deck. Toothless let out a growl to greet him before he took off into the air to catch his breakfast in the ocean. Upon hearing Jack's blunt comment made Hiccup's already red face turn even more so.
"Jack shut up." He tried to warn but the mischievous young man only smirked even more,
"But it's true. Not sure why you're blushing anyway."
Danny started to chuckle as he watched Hiccup and Jack start a little argument. As he observed them, he could see the two were good friends for the most part. He certainly was starting to feel at ease at both their presences.
"How about we just move on already?" Hiccup finally asked as he wanted to move on to a different subject, "Maybe we can even show Danny around the ship or something?"
"Sure," Jack turned his attention towards his fellow white haired crew member, "How about it kiddo? Wanna tour of this place?"
"Would you stop calling me kiddo? I'm fifteen. I mean, for crying out loud, how much older are you then me?" Danny asked still a little irked that Jack was insisting on calling him "kiddo."
Jack started to open his mouth but Hiccup beat him to it, "He's seventeen. So you're right. He shouldn't have the nerve to call you kiddo when he's only two years older than you." Hiccup had his own smirk cross his face as he found a way to get back at his friend for his snide remark about him and Merida.
Jack's smirk faded as Danny laughed, "Seriously?" he questioned and Hiccup nodded.
"How about that tour then?" Jack quickly said and began to march off. Hiccup and Danny exchanged knowing smiles towards one another before following after the slightly fuming other man.
Rapunzel had been exhausted from yesterday's events. She slept peacefully for the first time in the five years she ran away from the castle. She opened her eyes and expected to see the roof of the cottage. But upon seeing a different construction and feeling her room rock ever so gently made her realize she hadn't been dreaming of what went on the day before. She was indeed on a ship and sailing far away from Gothel and Corona. She felt a tang of guilt hit her for despite her wanting so badly to get off, Corona was still her home. A small part of her wanted to probably go back but as of now, she wasn't ready for that.
She slowly sat up and ran her fingers through her long blonde hair. She glanced down and winced to see in the dim light the sun was beaming through the window that Danny's blood was still in her locks. She was going to need to clean that up. And speaking of, she would also need more clothes. All her stuff was back at the cottage. She had been nearly done with packing when she was attacked by Gothel's guards. She sighed at this thought,
'Oh well…I'm sure Captain Merida or Carrie might have something for me to wear.'
Speaking of Carrie. Rapunzel glanced over to her left and could see Carrie was still asleep. The younger girl was snoring lightly and Rapunzel couldn't help but take in her appearance first. She could see Carrie had very pretty blue hair that was a tangled mess right now. Rapunzel never saw anyone with blue hair before. Of course Danny was the first one she got to know who had white hair. Jack would be the second. It made the used to be princess wonder how Carrie got her hair that color. Maybe she will ask her once she was awake.
Rapunzel took this moment to look around the room more carefully. She never had the chance due to her being so tired last night. It was a small and comfortable room. Just right for two girls like her and Carrie. She glanced to her right and could see a small shelf to put her personal things on and even a tiny mirror. There was even her bag that held her things. Wait what?
The blonde young woman grabbed her bag and opened it to see it had her clothes and other personal things. She hadn't expected this. She wondered how they managed to get her things. She heard faint movement coming from Carrie's bed and she turned to see the other girl stretching her arms.
"Boy what a night." Carrie said and rubbed her messy blue hair. She sat up and turned to see Rapunzel was already up, "Oh morning, Punzel."
Rapunzel smiled at the nickname Carrie had given her, "Morning, Carrie. Did you sleep well?"
"Uh…yeah. At least I got my strength back and won't be collapsing any time soon. Using all my energy to make that huge wave took a lot out of me." Carrie replied and felt envious that Rapunzel's long hair looked as if it had been brushed already. Her own hair probably looked like a bird's nest.
"That's good to hear. I find it interesting that you can control water." Rapunzel said and took out her brush from her bag, "Speaking of, who was it that grabbed my bag? I was attacked by the guards before I could even defend myself."
"Jack did. He told me to take it to my room. I guess he must have snatched it before he came back to the ship and he figured it was yours." Carrie answered and shrugged like it wasn't a big deal.
Rapunzel smiled faintly. She made a note to personally thank Jack later. She began to brush her long hair and paused when she noticed the blood in her hair again. Carrie shifted until she had her feet to the wooden floor and she saw it as well.
"Oh right. I bet you're wondering where the washroom is. I can show you. But first I godda fix my hair too. Oh man." Carrie let out a soft groan and ran her fingers through the knots in her hair.
Rapunzel noticed the groan and she chuckled softly, "If you want, I can fix up your hair."
Carrie blinked at this comment and turned towards her, "Really?"
"Sure why not? I usually comb Danny's hair. But he's a boy and he only lets me because he knows I enjoy it. I think it would be fun to comb another girl's hair." Rapunzel was getting a little excited at this idea.
Carrie wasn't sure of what to say. She really didn't know how to answer to that. She never had anyone comb her hair before. Her mother left her when she was still a baby. Hiccup and her dad weren't really into that. And the only girls Carrie knew back at her Viking home, Astrid and Rufftnut were both tomboys and didn't like doing girly things. And finally there was Merida. Merida didn't like combing her own hair so she was totally out of the question. The idea seemed fun. Finally after some pondering, Carrie sighed and gave Rapunzel a small smile,
"Sure. Go ahead."
Rapunzel gave a small squeal of delight and rushed over before plopping right behind Carrie on the bed. Carrie was fearing the worst of feeling the knots of her hair being pulled harshly. However, Rapunzel expertly was careful to loosen the knots and do so without pulling on Carrie's scalp. She even began to hum softly as she did her work. Danny's hair may have been long enough to be in a ponytail. But Carrie's hair was much longer; of course not as long as her own.
Rapunzel took this moment to see Carrie's hair was soft and silky that it could almost pass off as water. It was even wavy like the waves of the ocean, "You have beautiful hair, Carrie." Rapunzel complimented and Carrie shrugged,
"Not really. It's not as great as yours." She said dismissing the very idea her hair was beautiful. She did however enjoy how Rapunzel was combing her hair. It felt very nice.
"No I do mean it. I never seen hair like this. How did you get it like this?" Rapunzel asked and she saw the other girl stiffen at this question. This made the blonde princess frown, "I'm sorry. Maybe I should not have asked."
Carrie closed her eyes, "It's okay. I just…"
"Carrie!" Carrie and Rapunzel both jumped when Merida suddenly opened the door.
"Captain Merida!" Carrie gave a cry of surprise.
"Good, yer up. I didn't have to force ye outta bed. Okay, I want you and Rapunzel to get dressed. I like to meet ye lasses on the main deck as soon as you can." With that said, Merida closed the door leaving the other two girls alone once more.
"Why does she need us on the main deck?" Rapunzel asked with a frown while pulling Carrie's hair into a ponytail.
"I think it has to do with your friend Danny's special abilities. Jack and I mentioned what he can do and Captain Merida wants to see it for herself. She probably will also want to know if you have anything else special about you besides her hair. Better be prepared for a lot of questions that's all I can say," Carrie explained and stood up while running her hands over her hair and smiled at Rapunzel, "Thanks for combing my hair by the way, Punzel. That was really nice of you."
Rapunzel smiled back, "It was no problem. Thank you for letting me comb it," She pondered over how upset Carrie looked when she asked about her hair color. She was curious why. She decided to ask later; maybe when she got to know Carrie more, "Anyway, we should probably wash up my hair."
"Good idea. The washroom is this way." Carrie led Rapunzel out of the room towards the washroom.
"Ralph!" Merida shouted and a big strong man with messy auburn hair came rushing over to his captain. Whenever Hiccup wasn't around, Ralph was there to help out Merida. He came onboard due to his destructive ways. Merida felt bad for him and had no problem of bringing him on the ship. She could see that despite his hard exterior, he had a soft heart. He couldn't help if he was super strong and wrecked things.
"Yeah, Captain Merida?" he questioned and looked a little weary on why she called him.
"I'm calling upon my main crewmates about the new recruits. Make sure the ship continues to sail on our next stop." Merida replied and patted Ralph's large arm, "Imma counting on ye, ye big oaf."
"You got it, Captain." Ralph nodded with a smile and turned to walk off, "Hey Felix!"
"Yeah brother?" A petite man with light brown hair was busy working on a small leak of the Night Fury Wisp.
Felix was a polar opposite of Ralph. He was small, and always remained calm no matter the situation while Ralph would get angry easily. And when Ralph wrecks, Felix fixes things. However, unlike everyone else who treated Ralph horribly, Felix was the only one to stick up for him. In doing so, he and Ralph became close like brothers and have stuck together for as long as either can remember. Merida couldn't find a better handy man to fix up their ship if it ever got damaged.
"Captain wants to make sure we keep this ship on course." Ralph said as soon as he was near Felix.
"Great! Should be no problem then."
Merida smiled at the two talking and turned in time to see Carrie and Rapunzel emerge on the main deck. Both girls were dressed and ready for whatever the redhead was up to, "Good. Now I just hope the boys don't keep us waiting."
"Not this time, Captain, but we'll be sure to be late next time you call us." Jack said behind her.
Merida sighed and turned to glare up at the white haired smirking young man, "Not funny, Frost. Besides this is kinda important."
"Never said it wasn't." Jack shrugged and leaned against the railing of the ship.
"Och!" Merida rolled her eyes and saw Danny standing beside Hiccup, looking rather nervous, "All right, Phantom, I am gonna ask ye to show exactly what kinda abilities ye got."
Danny gulped when he saw Merida eyeing him like a hawk. He was starting to feel nervous, "It's okay, Danny, you can do it." Rapunzel encouraged him with a bright smile. She knew he had never shown off his powers before. She can understand him being not so up to this.
Danny tried to smile back before he gave a deep sigh. He walked towards the middle of the deck and started to focus. He closed his eyes and within a second, he became invisible right before everyone's eyes, "Whoa!" Carrie and Hiccup both shouted together. Jack had seen the boy do this and yet he couldn't help but express the same surprise as them. He hadn't seen anyone able to turn themselves invisible at will on a daily basis.
Merida quirked a single eyebrow as Danny reappeared in front of her, "Well, rather impressive, Phantom," Hearing her call him by his last name made him wince slightly. He was starting to think that Jack's nickname 'kiddo' wasn't half bad compared to the Captain calling him Phantom, "That may actually come in handy when we have to sneak up on our enemies and kill them," Danny's green eyes widen in horror before Merida chortled, "I'm just teasing, laddie! Get a sense of humor!"
"I thought you didn't have one yourself, Captain." Jack joked and he snickered with Hiccup and Carrie. Rapunzel even let out a small giggle but the laughter ceased when Merida shot a heated look in Jack's direction.
"All right, what else can ye do?" Merida asked turning her glare back at Danny. He gulped upon seeing her blue eyes pierce into him and knew he was right about his first impression on her; she wasn't someone he should make fun of.
He focused to get back on track and held his palms out in front of him. He breathed in and out and with his eyes glowing brightly, he made a flaming green ecto ray appear. Rapunzel was the only one to not stare at awe at the display Danny was doing. He showed Merida that he can even turn intangible to go through the some solid objects but doing all what he did took up a lot of his energy. After a few minutes, Merida was satisfied and she gave him a confirm nod,
"Very good. I must say, what you shown me is very impressive. I was only curious to see exactly what kind of abilities you have. Ye see on the Night Fury Wisp, we take on crew members that are deemed strange to normal humans. I made a vow that I will never turn me back on the ones who need a place. And you and Rapunzel certainly have a place here."
Danny wasn't expecting Merida to say any of this, "Are you sure, Captain?"
Merida nodded and placed her hand on his shoulder. He watched her actually smile warmly at him for the first time, "I'm sure. And let me tell you, laddie, even if you didn't have such supernatural powers, I would have still let ye on. Your powers will come in handy if we ever come across something. Your sister the princess Rapunzel has healing powers that will also help us out. We may be pirates, but we never harm anyone unless we have no other choice. As long as ye don't try harm anyone on this ship, yer good. Is that clear, Phantom?"
Danny was still shocked at Merida's words. He blinked before he slowly nodded and could feel joy go through him, "Yes ma'am!" he said eagerly and Merida had to laugh at the boyish glee in the boy's eyes. She thought it was rather adorable even if he was only a few years younger than her.
"All right, ya oafs! Let's get back to work!" Merida shouted and turned to walk off towards her quarters.
Rapunzel rushed over to Danny and they both smiled at each other, "Can you believe it, Punz? I think we have a home." He said as soon as she came up.
Rapunzel only nodded and hugged her brother, "I know. I'm so glad."
"Don't I get a hug?" Danny and Rapunzel glanced over to see Jack with Hiccup, Carrie, and Toothless not standing far from them. Jack who had spoken was pretending to pout like a lost puppy.
Danny rolled his eyes but Rapunzel let go of him and turned towards him fully, "Thank you very much, Jack. I mean not just for helping out Danny, but also for getting my things." She said gratefully.
Jack was surprised to see Rapunzel thank him. He wasn't exactly expecting it but he had to admit he liked it. Not to mention just seeing that beautiful smile on a beautiful girl's face was making him feel flustered. He gulped and managed to keep his cool. A smile spread across his face and said,
"It was not a problem. Oh, and I think this is yours." Jack put his hand into his shirt and took out a piece of paper. Rapunzel curiously took it and saw it was a painted picture of her and Danny.
"Oh thank you." Rapunzel nodded gratefully and her smile was still on her face.
Jack matched her smile and they started to look into each other's eyes when Carrie rushed up, "Just what is it?" she asked curiously, unknowingly she had interrupted something. Jack and Rapunzel both blushed slightly but the blonde showed the picture, "That's a beautiful painting. You actually made that?"
At Rapunzel's nod, Hiccup asked, "So you draw?"
Danny replied on Rapunzel's behalf, "Yeah she does and she's really good at it. In fact, it's because of her drawing skills we were able to make enough money to get by with food. At least up until I got a job."
Hiccup came over and was amazed by the beautiful detail on the painting, "That is a great painting. I draw myself." He said and rubbed the back of his neck.
Rapunzel was immediately interested, "Oh really?"
"Yeah, he does. He's a great artist. I can draw worth a damn." Carrie gave a shrug.
"It's okay, Carrie, I can't really either." Danny laughed and turned to Jack while Hiccup and Rapunzel began to talk about what the other likes to draw the most, "Speaking of, where are we sailing to?"
"Last time I asked, Captain Merida said we're going to Domino." Jack answered and Danny frowned at this. Why did that sound familiar? He was snapped out of his pondering when Toothless bumped his head against him, "Since we have time to kill, wanna do some sparing?"
Danny blinked, "Uh sure." He said and decided to ask about Domino later. While he and Jack decided to show off their fighting movements and powers, Rapunzel, Hiccup and Carrie looked through the painting and drawings both Rapunzel and Hiccup made. Toothless lay down and watched all the youngsters play. The dragon could see a bond already forming.
