Sorry for the long wait guys but I'm in year 10 and I've been revising loads for an Exam on Wednesday, I have three more in late May/early June.

Hope you enjoy it and please review xx

"Hey, Mel. Look, I know I'm probably-" Probably? "-the last person you want to talk to right now, but I need your help," Stefan began in a rushed voice. Wow, I think maybe something was worrying him. "Anna took Elena last night, and I've been searching all over town all night. I can't find her anywhere. Have you seen her?"

I sighed and shook my head. I ended the call and then texted Stefan saying;

Your a idiot. I'm a mute and you threatened my life last night. Even if I did know and even if I could tell you I wouldn't. Dumb ass.

Mel xx

I sent it and got a reply in under a minute, from Damon.

Just read that over Stefan's shoulder. I really am the smarter brother, aren't I?

Day xx

I groaned in annoyance and buried my head back under the cover. If Elena died she'd most probably become a vampire; I'm not sure why Stefan was worrying so much.

It had been dark when Damon and I arrived at the cemetery. We had met Elena, Stefan, Bonnie and Shiela there. I was a little upset that Damon had decided to trust them again but at the same time I felt happy that he was finally going to get Katherine.

Damon had gone in with Elena, Anna following soon after to look for her mother. When Elena's scream was heard Stefan rushed in and I blocked out Bonnie and her grandmother's witch talk. Where was Damon?

Then Elena came out with Stefan standing at the doorway.

"Elena, Bonnie began with guilt lacing her tone. What had they done now? "Stefan ..."

"He's right behind me," Elena said with a nod of her head.

I frowned when Stefan tried to walk out of the tomb because instead of walking out it was like he walked into some sort of invisable barrier.

Stefan said slowly, "I can't."

"Can't?" Elena repeated, looking very confused. "You can't? Can't - can't what?"

"The spell is still up. We can't get them out yet." Bonnie said, biting her lip as she flipped quickly through a Grimoir.

"Why did you go in there if you knew you couldn't get out?" Elena asked but her voice seemed so far away.

They knew ... Stefan, Bonnie and Sheila had known that Damon wouldn't come back out of the tomb. I threw the bottle of water at the wall and it splattered, causing everyone to look to me. Their eyes widened.

Those Bastards! I can't believe them! His own brother!

I glared at them all heatidly and Shiela said, "We will bring the seal down. But even if we manage to do so, we won't be able to hold it for long."

Stefan looked at me but I turned away.

"I'll find him," I heard Stefan say. When I peaked over my shoulder I saw that he really had gone to look for him. The bastard probably felt sorry for me! I'll kill him myself!

I paced for several minutes while the witches continued their chanting. The flames grew stronger but I didn't even pause in my pacing. Anna came out with her mother, I bearly heard her as she apologised for using Jeremy. Where was Damon?

Elena obviously grew impatient because she ran in there, I wanted to as well but before I could all three of them came out. Stefan wrapped his arms around Elena as the tmb's door shut and my mind caught up with me. All three came out ...

Where was Katherine?

I turned around and saw Damon just staring at the floor blankly, his expression being unreadable from the mix of so many emotions there although I could guess what most of the emotions were. Damon had spent over a century looking for a way to free Katherine so they could be together and now he'd just found out she wasn't in there. She had been out in this world all along and hadn't even searched for him.

I approached Damon slowly, tears forming in my eyes for him. Once a reached him I put a hand on his arm, he looked up at the sudden touch and I saw the raw pain, the confusion, in his eyes.

"I'm sorry." I mouthed to him as I felt a tear slip over.

"She wasn't in there ..." Damon whispered sounding broken. Katherine had never been in there, which meant she had been out here, which meant she hadn't looked for Damon and that meant the she obviously didn't love him or want him. "She was never there."

I slowly put my arms around him and he slowly reacted. Within a minute or two we were hugging, just standing outside the tomb holding each other. I don't no how long we stayed like that but I didn't care because this is what Damon needed and Damon was my friend.

"We are going to be best friends forever. I'll even learn that language thing for you."

Me and Elena are adopted. Sadly, we're still twins. Teenage runaway that was pregnant landed on the doorstep and once she gave birth to twins she ran, again. Elena made Jenna tell us exactly what happened - correction, Elena made Jenna tell her exactly what happened and Jenna decided to wait until I arrived in the room.

Elena had then begged Jenna to try and find more information, she involved anyone who would hear of it. When Damon had asked me how I felt I had shrugged my shoulders and signed, "I don't care. She obviously didn't want me so why should I bother to try and meet her."

Jenna found a friend of Isobel which was the name of our mother. Elena went to visit the friend. Then we found out that the new history teacher, Alaric Slatzman, had a wife named Isobel who was our mother, then we found out that Damon killed her. Elena was a bitch, Damon apologised to me after Elena left and I just shrugged. I really don't care.

Me and Damon hung out more, I skipped quiet a few days of school to day drink with him and ended having a few sleepovers as I couldn't go home drunk or with a hangover. I completely blanked Stefan and his advice.

And then ... then Caroline found Vicki's body.

Her skin was grey and she looked like she had been dead and decaying for years rather than a few seconds. The steak was sticking up from her chest and her eyes glazed over. She really looked like a vampire now; she was even wearing the costume. I heard Jeremy call out her name from behind me but I couldn't concentrate on his voice. I couldn't concentrate on anything other than the body in front of me.

I was so shocked when I received the phone call off Matt that I had dropped my phone which smashed upon hitting the ground.

I cried again and this time I let Damon, Jenna and Jeremey comfort me. Elena kept her mouth shut, Stefan tried to apologise and I was surprised when Caroline visited to say sorry. I met with Kelly but she didn't have much to say, I stayed with Matt for a bit and let him talk it out. My life seemed to be going down hill again and again.

I had been rudely awoken by Damon's phone ringing, I was still crashing there every other day and Damon knew about my dreams or nightmares as I called them. Stefan had called ... or had it been Elena ... and he asked Damon to come to the school to Alaric's classroom. Damon then asked me too join him and when he was in that state I couldn't really let him go alone, now could I?

"Damon, thanks for coming ..." Alaric's greeting trailed off once his eyes landed on me. "And you brought Melody."

I raised my eyebrows and put my hands on my hip. Why the hell did I get such a rude greeting?

I turned to Stefan and asked, "Why the hell did I get such a rude greeting?"

"He doesn't want you involved in any of this," Stefan told me, speaking so that everyone could know what he was saying.

I just rolled my eyes at them and crossed my arms across my chest.

"What's with all the furrowed brows?" Damon asked, arching an eyebrow as he looked at Alaric.

"Isobel came to see me last night." Alaric said unhappily, in a guiet voice.

Wait. Isobel? As in mine and Elena's mother, Isobel?

After a moment of silence I realised my mouth was hanging open. I shut it with a snap and turned to Damon, eyes wide. Isobel. The vampire Isobel. My birth mother, mine and Elena's birth mother. I remembered the dream I'd had of her ...

Stefan and Elena were staring at each other over the crowded room. They seemed trapped in eachother's gaze. Damon was standing next to Stefan, they were both by the pool table and leaning on pool sticks. Damon rolled his eyes at them and made gagging motions, I grinned at him. Damon stepped in front of Stefan and gave Elena a girly wave. Elena's only reply was a roll of her eyes and then our view was blocked.

I woman stands in front of our view of Stefan, she takes off her coat and put's it on the spare chair at our table. This must be Isobel. She's pretty but looked like a rock could have more emotion. I couldn't believe it though, this was my birth mother - our birth mother, this was the woman who had given us up.

She had pitch black, wavey hair and her skin was pale. Her dark brown eyes were cold and hard, I shivered. She looked a little older than she did in the picture Jenna had shown us but her appearance hadn't really changed that much. This was Isobel. This was my real mum.

I looked over at Elena, she was sitting as stiff as a board with a wobbly lip and tears in her eyes. She was over reacting. It was shocking, we both had every right to be shocked and even upset but she was still over reacting. There was no need to cry, Marinda Gilbert was the woman who had raised us - she ws our real mother. Isobel Flemming was just a woman who gave birth to us.

She might have wanted us but we didn't know that and even if she had wanted to keep us it was too late now.

"Isobel's here?" Damon asked, shock written on his face. "In town?"

Alaric nodded slowly. I frowned. I could see the hint of pain in his eyes, the pain he was trying desperatly to hide. He must have been in such shock when he'd first seen her.

"Are you okay?" I signed, mouthing the words at the same time incase he didn't understande sign language.

He nodded, shooting me a small, gratefull smile.

Damon turned to me and asked quietly, a hand on my shoulder, "Are you okay?"

I smiled and raised an eyebrow, "Why wouldn't I be?"

Damon grinned than turned back to Alaric. He began shooting questions at Alaric, "Did you ask her about Uncle John? Are they working together?"

"No," was all Alaric murmured.

"No, they're not?"

"No I didn't ask."

"What about the invention?"

"Didn't ask."

"Does she know about the tomb vampires?"

"I don't know."

"Did words escape completely escape you?" Damon snapped in annoyance as he came to stand right in front of Alaric.

"Damon!" Elena hissed, some of the moistier in her eyes had disappeared now and she looked quite pissed. "Back off."

"I was a little too distracted by my dead vampire wife to ask questions!" Alaric snapped back at Damon, loosing his cool for a minute.

"What does she want?" I asked confused. I'm assuming that she didn't want to get back together with Alaric although that would be romantic.

"She wants to meet us." Elena says softly. Shit!

What?

Like seriously - What the hell?

My birth mother who was a vampire now wanted to see me, meet me. She wanted to meet us - me and Elena. Although in Isobel's defence she hasn't met Elena to realise that she's such a ... a bitch!

"You look just like her, Elena." Isobel says unemotionally, in an almost bored tone. "And I have to admit I'm surprised your not a doppleganger as well, Melody."

"You've met Katherine?" Elena asked.

"She found me after I turned." Isobel explained in a bored tone. "Genetic curiousity I suppose. She'd be fasinated by you both."

"Thanks," I mouthed sarcastically.

Isobel's laugh was hollow sounding and said, "I learnt sign language when I was young, Melody."

"Is that how you walk in the daylight?" Elena asked, cutting off my reply which would have been awesome.

I zone out of the conversation and observe Isobel instead. This was my mother, the woman who had given birth to me ... and Elena. I couldn't help but compare her to Miranda. While Isobel was cold and detached, watching the whole room my mom - Miranda - was sweet and kind, showering everyone with affection. They were nothing alike - in looks and in personality. I found it was easier to think of mum now. It had been months since she'd died.

Died - death. Those words brought up a whole bunch of more feelings and memories.

"Sweetie, be kind to your sister. Please," Mom said without looking back at us.

I smirked at Elena who scowled darkly at me.

"But Mom!" Elena complained loudly. "She started it."

"Girls," Mom scolded, turning in her seat to look at us. "Your sisters and you should start acting like it."

"Psst," Daddy said, waving me to him.

I bit my lip to stop laughing. With one last glance to Mommy who was helping Elena again. I ran over to Daddy, arms out streched. He picked me up easily and swung me so that I was on his hip. He grinned at me and put his finger to his lips. I let out a silent giggle and nodded.

Then Daddy crept silently back inside the house. I was opening the door for us when we heard Mommy say, "Oi! Back outside now you two!"

"You know, when we get out of this crap town the first place we're going is Spain to get a gorgeous tan," Vicki said, blowing a puff of her smoke into my face.

I breathed it in and shook my head. I got my phone out and wrote;

'Mexico. I really want to go to Mexico.'

I showed it to her and she laughed. "Mexico? Really Mel?"

I nodded with a grin. I would rather be around the world at Russia but Mexico would like Vicki. Vicki would like Mexico.

"Let's do it!" Vicki said, jumping up into a sitting position. Her eyes were no longer red from tears but instead they were bright and full of exitment. "Let's do it," she repeated. "As soon as you finish school we'll pack our bags and go. To Mexico."

She looked down to me to confirm.

It wouldn't work. We didn't have enough money. Mom and Dad would never let me. But Vicki was my best friend and I'd do anything for her. Even lie.

I nodded with a grin, giving her the thumbs up.
