"Ellis, could you hand me that jar of Boomer Bile?" Zoey called from across the safe room. They had spent the better part of the day trying to build up their strength. The group had faced a hoard bigger than any other they'd seen; to make matters worse there had been not one- but two Tanks standing between them and the safe room. Luckily, Louis had found a rocket launcher and bought enough time for everyone to make it out alive and hardly injured.

Nick was staying mostly to himself; he'd gotten cut up pretty badly by flying debris a few days earlier. The wound was festering but he chose not to worry anyone.

"Alright guys, I can see a boat from here. If we can make it to the docks we should be okay. There's probably a radio on board where we can get a hold of somebody," Louis said looking out the barred door to the safe room.

"Ready?" Zoey asked, generally addressing the rest of the group.

"As always sweetheart," Nick smirked, pumping his shotgun, earning a scoff from Louis.

They made their way out of the room, there were hardly any zombies between them and the boat which seemed peculiar to them, "maybe it's our lucky day..." Ellis said quietly.

"JOCKEY!" Louis shouted firing his weapon at the mutated creature; the monster jumped on him and began to scratch at his head.

"It's… riding him!" Zoey screamed in horror as she shot at it, eventually died.

"Ellis, I think you spoke to soon," Nick joked, taking a few more steps. They slowly made their way to the docks with hardly any threats. Louis was leading the way with Ellis close behind him; Nick was guarding the back of the group. Zoey stuck back with him, she'd noticed his mannerisms had been off as though he'd been babying his left side.

"Take these pills," she said softly as she tossed Nick the bottle.

"Don't worry about me doll face," he said tossing them back, "I'm fine."

She raised an eyebrow, "whatever you say chief."

Nick sighed as she walked on ahead; there was something about her that he just couldn't shake. Maybe it was the fact that she was kind and considerate, or maybe it was simply that she was one of the last women on earth, but whatever it was, Nick couldn't keep his eyes off her.

"All clear!" Louis called, "everyone on the boat."

"The radio seems to be intact, maybe this is our way outa here!" Ellis cheered.

"We can only hope," Nick mumbled, running his fingers through his hair.
