Guest (guest) (ch6): I love your story and I can't wait for the next chapter!
Re: I can't wait either! I hope you like it!
Next chappy... sorry it took like forever. I have no idea of how busy I'll be in the future, what with school almost at an end. I'm also taking classes over the summer, so again, I'll try to write as much as possible.

Zero Dark Thirty, EST
This was it. All of the young mutants' training was finally paying off. They'd gone through numerous courses, all with different purposes to serve and challenges to be faced. Each team member came out of training faster, stronger, smarter, and more powerful than they had previously been.
In other words, there had never been a more successful one-year training course in the entire American agency.
However, there was one final step that needed completion, one which the students- agents- were awaiting. They were standing at attention in front of Agent Lazarus and Director Cassidy. Two security guards were off to the younger agents' right, while three technicians and three doctors were at the agents' left.
All six project members were wearing pale gray long-sleeved cotton jumpsuits, which were slightly baggy but cinched around the waist by a band of elastic. On the right side of the chest was a label with the agents' full names, and under it, their codenames. On their feet were black leather combat boots, which were laced around the pant legs and reached to mid-calf. They'd all taken showers only minutes prior, and their hair was still slicked back from the water. Tiffany and Ari's hair, because of the length, were back in French braids and tied off at the nape of the neck, courtesy of the former girl.
Lazarus spoke first. "We are incredibly proud of all of you. No one knew how this project would turn out when it was started, but our expectations have been exceeded. Not only have you grown as individuals, but as a team. I would pass by you while you were in the lounge, and I'd see how you'd be laughing and working together, strengthening the bond you share. This is the most important factor in becoming a successful team. For that, we are proud."
Cassidy then took over. "We hope that your team will be only the first and that, if the future allows, this program will grow. I would like to ask each one of you to assist with training in the future, so the new students can learn from your experiences."
The directors paused to let this sink in. Lorenzo and Tiffany were excited; they had always liked working with younger kids, and this proposal offered by Cassidy and Lazarus would be the perfect opportunity for them to do so. Allie remained indifferent. She knew she wasn't the best with kids, due to her being too scared to handle them. She was too scared that she'd say the wrong thing at the wrong time, and she feared that she'd corrupt them. Josh felt the same way as Lorenzo and Tiffany, if not a little less outwardly enthusiastic. He'd never worked with kids before, so this would be a cool new experience. Ari and Matt felt the same way as Josh because they also hadn't really dealt with large groups of kids, but Ari thought that she might become too frustrated with them too quickly.
However, all of them shared a common worry; none of them would like to train kids to fight if the future foreseen by the councilwoman were to come to pass. They wouldn't have the hearts to teach children how to hurt or kill others. The teens of Project Savior all prayed, no matter their opinion on God and religion, that they wouldn't wake up to a ruined planet.
"Whatever your thoughts may currently be on this subject matter," Lazarus resumed, "Just know that you should always do what it takes to protect the this planet. The future of it may soon rest in your hands."
Cassidy continued as the teens were lined up in front of the cryogenic preservation pods. "These pods are specifically designed to keep you asleep for however long the designated time is. However, we will be able to wake you up sooner if necessary, or keep you under for longer. This procedure will keep you from aging, and the serum we developed will keep you from being damaged from being asleep for so long."
A few days prior, the team of doctors standing before them had briefed the six teens on the exact purpose and abilities of the serum. The teens were told to wait in the lounge while Cassidy sent the doctors in. She stood before them now, a middle-aged woman with blonde hair tied back in a low ponytail, whose name tag read "Dr. Williams"...
Dr. Williams, who seemed to be the head doctor, started off the explanation of the procedure the teens would soon be going under. "The serum we developed is extremely similar in formula to the Super Soldier Serum administered to Steve Rogers, AKA Captain America. Because you six are still growing, we didn't want to give you a highly concentrated version of the formula, which was given to Rogers. We found a way to water it down, so to speak, so the serum won't transform you into a hulking mass of muscle. Instead, the most it will do is increase your metabolism rate, along with your overall stamina, immunity, et cetera, by a maximum of fifteen percent. The main reasons we're administering the serum to you is so that you survive the freezing process and that so you might have a higher survival rate if the future turns south."
The teens shifted in their seats. Only Lorenzo and Tiffany, the only two members extensively trained in biology and biochemistry, understood exactly what was going on.
A second doctor, a brown-haired man around the same age whose name read "Dr. Martin" added, "Because we are administering the serum through an IV drip while you are under, the possibility of you feeling any change will arise when you wake up. You will notice changes in your food intake, you will be able to fight just that much longer, harder, and faster than you are currently able. When you awaken, either we or some of our colleagues will try to be there to help condition you to not overexert yourselves; even with the serum, you will still have limits."
The following days had been filled with more medical tests and physical examinations to make sure that all of InFUSE's records were up-to-date. The last day before the teens' cryogenic preservation, they were allowed to relax and hang out with each other. Their day had been filled with leisurely activities, such as watching movies, playing video games, and whatever else the six teammates wanted to do. Their parents or guardians had been informed that they were going on a lengthy infiltration mission that would take them to Russia, so the kids wouldn't be able to remain in contact. The parents still had no idea what was truly occurring.
This was the only regret that the six teenage heroes had. They understood the gravity of this situation, that the future may depend on them. Although they could be known as heroes, they all prayed again that the severity of the danger the future could hold would never rise to that level. They didn't know what they would do if they lost everyone around them.
Ari, who was chosen to lead the teenagers, sent a wave of reassurance through the minds of her teammates. Without any further hesitation, they stepped into their pods.
2009
One year has passed. The possibility of the future that the clairvoyant saw continues to loom over the heads of the rest of the council members.

2010
It's been two years now. The status of the possibility of a near-future apocalypse has not changed, and neither has the status of Project Savior.

2011
The third year. One of the workers was caught trying to tamper with one of the pods. He was taken straight to questioning as soon as he was apprehended. When the officials who take him in turned their backs for only a moment, they turned back around to find him dead. It is still unknown whether he tampered with any of the other pods, as the video footage was mysteriously ruined. The readings on each of the students' vitals remained normal. They didn't seem affected, hopefully signaling that the goal of the perpetrator was not accomplished. Whoever was behind this was never revealed.

2012
The fourth year. An unlucky number in Chinese culture. However, the bad omen has the opposite effect on Project Savior; from the visions seen by the clairvoyant, the possibility of awakening the teens ahead of the intended date increases.

1000 Hours, EST
Six teens opened their eyes, their highly reactive pupils quickly shrinking to pinpricks to compensate for the sudden burst of light, the first light seen in the past five years. From what they could see, and from the expressions worn by Cassidy and Lazarus, all was well. The teenagers were informed that the clairvoyant's visions had changed, which meant their early awakening. The possibility of an apocalypse-precipitating world war had vanished while the teens of Project Savior were under ice, and the need to keep them under any longer ceased to exist.
Josh, Ari, Matt, Leo, Tiffany, and Allie remained together. Project Savior wasn't disbanded simply because they were no longer needed to fight the possibility of an apocalypse. No, Project Savior continued to exist, and Director Cassidy planned on starting the training of possible future members soon. However, Cassidy wanted his team to be caught up with knowledge of any important events that occurred while they were under, and there were a few national and international issues that required the team's attention. Training new members would have to wait.
But in that moment, all was well.
I know some of my logic regarding the serum might not add up all the way, but just remember: suspension of disbelief! Yaaayy!
I know this chapter will be short, but there is a very small possibility that future chapters will be this short or shorter. My goal is at least 2k per chapter.
Reviews are what keeps my motivation going! Even if it's just a "cool story bro" or a "keep calm and carry on my wayward son" then I appreciate it!
