Chapter 6: Surprise Visit

Disclaimer: I do not own Kuroko no Basuke, nor Starry Sky and its soundtrack.

[The next day, February 18; 6:30 A.M.]

Yuzuki had woken up earlier than usual. She had only gotten a few hours of sleep because she almost spent the rest of the evening (and dawn) worrying about the green-haired shooter. She groans as she pulls on a red sweater over her black tank top and goes down the stairs to prepare breakfast.

As soon as she reaches the kitchen, she sees a couple of post-it notes stuck on the refrigerator door. She walks over to it and reads the post-its.

'Yuzuki,
I have already left for my business trip. I don't know how long I'll be gone, but please do take care in the meantime.

-Father'

'Yuzuki dear,

My boss had called for an emergency trip going to France. We had some problems regarding the branch there, so I have to go immediately. I'm very sorry, dear. I know your father also has a business trip, and this happens way too often, but please do understand us. If you want, you can ask your friends to sleep over, or you could sleep over at theirs. Take care, honey!

-Mother'

The purple-haired female sighs as soon as she finishes reading her parents' notes. They always left post-its on the fridge whenever they had somewhere to go and they couldn't say 'goodbye' to her in person, which happened too often. She walks over to the cabinet and takes out the pancake box. Afterwards, she starts making the batter, heats up the pan and finally starts cooking the pancakes.

She hears footsteps and she turns around, seeing a Midorima who had just woken up from his sleep. His glasses were in his hand, his emerald hair was disheveled a bit, and his right eye was closed while the other was open. Yuzuki blushes slightly at the sight of him. She thought that he was adorable like this, like a little kid. But at the same time, she thought that he was beautiful, because of his eyes, his face – everything.

Realizing that she was practically gaping at him, she clears her throat and decides to talk.

"Ah, g-good morning, Shin-chan…Breakfast is ready."

The male says nothing as he slips on his glasses and silently sits at the table in the kitchen. Yuzuki sets down a plate of pancakes in front of him and decides to put the maple syrup bottle near him, in case he wanted it. Then she fixes herself a plate then sits from across him. They both ate in silence, the only sound being the chirping of the birds outside and a slight breeze passing through.

'Ah…it's almost spring….' She thinks to herself as she absentmindedly takes a big bite of a maple syrup-drenched pancake.

"Yuzuki."

"Eh?" she asks, looking into Midorima's beautiful green eyes.

He points to the side of his mouth. "You've got syrup here, idiot."

Yuzuki hurriedly grabs a tissue and tries to wipe it away. No, not because she was embarrassed that Midorima would see her in such a state. He had seen her in a much, much worse state than that. She hurried because she was afraid that what happens in a shoujo manga will happen to her.

'I mean…the guy's already got a girlfriend…! It's not supposed to happen! He's not supposed to-'

"…Not there, you idiot."

The green-haired boy leans forward, his hand reaching out to wipe the syrup on her cheek with a tissue. Midorima was blushing slightly as he did so, while the purplenette's blue eyes were wide with shock. He sits back down, pushing up his glasses to hide his embarrassment.

'Oh. My. God. This- What- How-'

She was unable to speak, and unable to form a coherent sentence in her mind. Her cheeks were beet red, and her sapphire eyes were staring down at her breakfast, because for some reason, it became suddenly fascinating. An awkward silence hung over the two of them.

Luckily, her phone rang.

She hurriedly flips open her cell phone and answers the call, not bothering to check the caller ID.

"…H-Hello…?"

"Yuzukicchi~! Good morning~!"

Yuzuki winced as Kise's loud and cheerful voice blasted from the black device. Opposite her, Midorima was frowning because it was still so early, and Kise was being very loud.

"A-Ah, Kise-kun. Good morning. Did you need something?"

"Ah, yeah~! I woke up early today for some reason, and I was bored~ I tried calling the others, but they didn't answer my call~" she could totally picture the blonde pouting over the phone.

She smiles, shaking her head. "Well, it is still very early, Kise-kun. What was it that you needed?"

"Oh! Would you like to hang out with me today, Yuzukicchi~? We could watch a movie~~"

"…Um….I can't today. Shin-chan's at my house, and he's sick, so I have to take care of him."

'And if I didn't know better, it's like he was…..a-asking m-me out…No, snap out of it! You're delusional, baka!' she mentally slapped herself.

"Ohhh, I see~~ I'll take off then~ I wouldn't want to disturb you~~" Kise said with a suggestive tone. Yuzuki could picture him giving her a knowing look and wiggling his eyebrows.

"Sh-Shut up, Bakakise! I-It's nothing like that!" she cries, her cheeks becoming red once again.

The golden-haired boy laughs. "Ahahaha~ Okay, okay~ Bye, Yuzukicchi~~"

And with that, she closes her phone and stashes it back in her sweater pocket. She looks at Midorima, who was obviously annoyed. He was also slightly pale.

"…Shin-chan, you're still sick, aren't you…?"

"No, I'm not. I can go home now." He replies with a scowl.

In return, the purple-haired female glares at him and points her fork at the bespectacled male. "No. You're not okay yet. After breakfast, you will go and rest. You will not go home because who knows if you stay out too long and your condition might get worse. And God knows that Auntie Shizuka will get mad at me. So, no."

"But-"

"No~~"

For the rest of the breakfast time, they remained silent. Afterwards, Yuzuki washed the plates and pans while the green-eyed boy was in the living room, watching some sort of show. She plops down next to him after she was done.

"Hey, Shin-chan~~ You know how to play the piano, right~?"

He scoffs. "You already know that, you idiot. Why are you suddenly asking that question?"

"Ahaha, just wanted to ask your opinion on the piece I made. Well…pieces. There's like at least 3 or more that I made…" Yuzuki says with a nervous laugh, rubbing the back of her neck.

"Show me." He says, standing up suddenly. With a nod, Yuzuki stands up as well and leads him to the music room in their house (which was really just a small room with a grand piano in it, a few books on music, music booklets, and a few chairs).

The blue-eyed female sets up the piano then sits down on the chair, leaving space for the green-haired male to sit beside her. She opens her music booklet, revealing a bunch of compositions she made. She flips open to a page where there was a composition entitled, "For the Cancer".

She then begins to play the piano, her slender fingers moving gracefully across the white and black piano keys. The music that was heard by both of them was both sweet, and it seemed peaceful and lively as well. The female was smiling to herself as she plays the piece, her blue eyes were practically filled with many emotions, but the most dominant of them was love.

After she had finished playing the composition "For the Cancer", she turns the page to the composition "For the Capricorn". Like "For the Cancer", it had a lively rhythm to it, and it was beautiful. It also had some sort of jazzy feel to it. While Yuzuki was playing "For the Capricorn", her eyes were filled with sadness and longing. Midorima's emerald eyes were gazing at her, and it was as if they were filled with worry for the purple-haired female.

"…You said you had at least three of them." Midorima says as soon as Yuzuki finishes playing "For the Capricorn".

The blue-eyed female nods then turns the page of her music booklet. It revealed a composition entitled, "For the Virgo".

"…It's mine."

As soon as she starts playing, her childhood friend realizes that this particular composition was both beautiful and sad. It sounded very pleasant to the ears, and it was indeed very beautiful. However, at the same time, he felt as if that even though it was beautiful and that it gave off a peaceful air, it also gave off an aura of sadness. It was as if she was feeling melancholic while she wrote this particular composition.

"…How was that, Shin-chan…? Um, Shin-chan…? W-Why are you staring off into space? ….Earth to Shin-chan~" she says, waving a hand in front of him.

He snaps out of his daze then turns to look at her. "Is that all?"

"Well…I'm still working on the others. I plan on doing one composition for each Zodiac sign. So, what did you think…? Was it okay…?" she asks, raising an eyebrow.

"….It was fine." Midorima says, looking to the side and pushing up his glasses.

Yuzuki grins to herself. What Midorima may have said was nothing more than just a simple sentence; but she knew that he meant that it was nice. Well, she knew him since childhood, so she knew what he meant. It was like she knew "Midorima Language".

"Thank you-"

"Yuzukicchi~ Midorimacchi~ We're here~!" a cheerful voice announced as the door to the music room burst open, revealing an array of colorful-haired teenagers. Kinda like Skittles.

Both Yuzuki's and Midorima's eyes went wide with surprise. They certainly weren't expecting this.

"W-What are you guys doing here at this hour?!"

Kise smiled. "Well, I told them that Midorimacchi was at your house and that he was sick and that you were taking care of him~~"

"Hah, well, at first I thought that it was just an excuse, and that you two were doing something else like-" Aomine said with a grin, but he was cut off when Momoi elbowed him in the stomach.

"Shut up, you baka!"

"….Um…And you even dragged Akashi-kun and Kuroko-kun here…." Yuzuki says, glancing at the redhead and the baby blue-haired boy.

"No, I had nothing to do today anyway. It's okay, Yuzuki." Akashi says.

Kuroko shakes his head. "It wasn't a bother, Yuzuki-chan. It's totally okay."

"…If you say so. Have you guys gotten any breakfast already?"

"Yeah. By the way, Yuzuchin, do you have candy?" Murasakibara says, walking over to her and Midorima.

Yuzuki nods. "Yeah. They're in the cupboard in the kitchen. Just go get some, Mura-kun."

"Hai~ Thanks, Yuzuchin~" he says, walking off, presumably to get his precious sweets.

"…So. Why did you guys agree to go with Kise-kun?" she asks, raising an eyebrow.

Aomine shrugs. "I don't really know. You know, I wanted to, like, catch you two doing s-"

"Aominecchi, you're such a pervert." Kise comments, cutting the tanned teen off.

"Hah? You were the one who put that thought in my head, you baka! You even told me that you teased Yuzu about it on the phone!" the blue-haired male retorts, glaring at the blonde.

"Idiots." Midorima says with a sigh.

"I completely agree, Shin-chan." The blue-eyed female says, nodding her head in agreement.

As Kise and Aomine were arguing, Momoi trying to get them to be quiet, Murasakibara just staring at them while eating his snacks (he came back as soon as he acquired them), Akashi and Kuroko sitting in the chairs while looking at them expressionlessly, Midorima and Yuzuki thinking that their two friends were such idiots, a loud, clear voice cut through the air, silencing everyone.

"Yu-chan~~~~~"

The aforementioned female stands up immediately and heads towards the door, but a bespectacled raven-haired male suddenly appears in front of her. He immediately kisses her cheek and picks her up, swinging her around.

"Yu-channnnn~! I missed you so much~" he exclaims, spinning her around.

The blue-eyed female was starting to get dizzy from the merry-go-round he was doing. "Put me down! I'm getting dizzy, you know!"

He happily complies, his grin never leaving his face. He then catches sight of the people inside the music room – most of which were males. His expression immediately darkens, even though his smile remained on his face.

"Who are you and what are you doing here~?"

"Cut it out, you baka! You're scaring them!" she scolds, slapping him upside the head.

He turns to her, a pout on his face. "Owwwie~ Yu-chan, you hurt me~~"

An irk mark appears on the purple-haired female's forehead and she ignores the bespectacled older male. Midorima stands next to him.

"Shiki-san, nice to see you again."

The raven stands straight and a grin appears on his face. "Oh~ Shintaro! Long time no see~!"

"Yes. How are you, Shiki-san?"

"Ah, I'm fine, I'm fine~ College life is fine~ I decided to take a week-long leave. My professors were okay with it, since I'm done with all of the requirements needed~" Shiki replies, pushing up his glasses.

"Um, excuse me…"

"Ye- Holy shit!" he exclaims as soon as he sees Kuroko next to him, looking at him blankly (although there was curiosity burning in those baby blue eyes).

"H-How long have you been there…?"

"I've been here the entire time." Kuroko replies, staring into Shiki's violet eyes.

"Seriously…? By the way, what is it?" he says, rubbing the back of his neck.

Kuroko was silent for a second, but he decides to speak up. "I hope you don't find this rude, but…Who are you? Are you Yuzuki-chan's boyfriend?"

Shiki's violet orbs widen in surprise, but then he chuckles. "Haha, 'boyfriend'? No, no~ I'm not her boyfriend~ Wait – So does that mean she hasn't-"

Yuzuki slaps a hand on his mouth, silencing him. She sighs deeply, closing her eyes before opening them again and looks at her friends.

"Everyone, this is Miyamoto Shiki, my dorky older brother."

Chapter End Notes:

So, um...this was the longest chapter I have ever written for 'You're Such An Idiot'. I mean, seriously.

I'm sorry if it's a bit too dragging and a bit stale, I had to introduce her (dorky) older brother one way or another.

Er...I guess that's it.

I hope you guys enjoyed it, and comments/suggestions are welcome~ ^u^
