"Sergeant Farron!"

"Yes, Lieutenant!"

The beary man gave a wink and a thumbs up.

"Good job for today, Sergeant! I trust you to do the same when the newbie comes next week."

"Newbie?"

"Yeah, some chap from the Sanctum Academy is being attached to us. He's a medic resident in his last term, so he'll tag along our missions and day-to-day stuff. No biggie really. As long as he doesn't mess up~ haha!"

"Will have my eyes on it, sir."

"Betcha will, Sergeant."

- The next week -

Serah looked up from her meal as she was chewing. Her sister was finishing up the last bit of the sandwich and picking up her coffee cup.

"What is it, Serah?" she asked.

"Oh, it's...um, nothing," Serah replied, darting her eyes down as she bit into a sandwich.

-Later at work -

"Hi."

The young woman turned at the familiar voice behind.

"Trevor Chase reporting."

The young man smiled.

"Éclair? H..Hi..."

The young woman froze for a moment.

"It's...Lightning now," she replied.

"Lightning?" he asked.

"A lot of things have changed now,"she said.

"Are you..."

"Do you have some papers with you?" she asked. "I need some identification."

Lightning walked over and he felt his heartbeat throbbing. It has been so long since they've been apart and now she was just inches away.

"N..nice hair by the way," he said, then quickly pulled out a sheet of paper from his messenger bag. "You look different...but it suits you."

Trevor managed a smile. Lightning stared at him for awhile but said nothing and she turned her attention to the paper in front. Trevor swallowed. Somehow it wasn't the reunion he had hoped for and he could feel his heart breaking. After a quick glance, she looked up.

"Welcome to Bodhum's local unit of the Guardian Corps. We're tasked with more domestic issues than other counterparts.

Lieutenant Amodar is my direct supervisor and yours while you're here. He'll sign this when he gets here. Any questions?"

"Well...um, nope but just a few notes about myself. I deal with first aid and minor issues with the general public mainly. I'm capable of surgery when need be but hardly deal with it in my role."

"Yes, I understand you're a medic," Lightning said, gesturing to a nearby seat.

Trevor nodded.

"Oh," he added. "I would need to make a trip to the Sunleth Waterscape while I'm here. With all the monsters there now, is that possible?"

"The Sunleth Waterscape is off-limits to civilians...but as for you..."

"I have permission to be there. There are some flora that I need research on. It'll help in medical studies."

"Well, I can't make decisions. You'll have to speak to Amodar about this."

"What's that you need to talk about?" boomed a stout man, walking into the room with a few others.

"Sir, this is Trevor Chase, the medic attached to us," briefed Lightning. "He said he needs to make a trip to Sunleth Waterscape."

"Well, that can be arranged." Amodar said, looking through his paper work. "You'll need someone to go with you. But for now, roll call!"

"Torreno!"

"Attention!"

"Baxter!"

"Aye!"

"Thunder!"

"Aye!"

"Falcon!"

"Aye aye Sir!"

"Sarge!"

"Aye Lieutenant!"

"Farron!"

"Sir."

"Ray!"

"Yes Sir!"

"Blitz!"

"Here!"

"And of course, our newbie - Chase!"

"...A-Aye?"
