A/N I don't know what going on with the site but I'm sorry I'm late anyway :( Happy Holidays guys

Maya sighed as she stopped outside the apartment. Their apartment: her and Emily's. The two had been fighting a lot lately, and as Maya got off yet another graveyard shift, she expected another fight as she wearily unlocked the door.

It was 7 in the morning, so she was quiet as she took her shoes off and made her way to their bedroom. Emily's back was to the door, causing Maya to sigh again. Emily only slept like that when she cried herself to sleep.

Maya stripped out of her work uniform, threw on some flannel pyjama bottoms and a tee shirt, unsure if they were even her's, and got under the blankets. She stared at Emily's back for a moment before reaching out and taking a few locks of her hair, twirling it between her fingers. "I love you so much," Maya said. "I love you too," she heard Emily say quietly. The taller girl rolled over to face her girlfriend. "I thought you were asleep," Maya said. Emily shook her head without a word and stared tiredly at Maya.

After a few moments she finally spoke, "I don't want to fight anymore." Maya, who had been dozing off, took Emily's hand in her own. "Me neither Em." she agreed, "Then tell me the truth Maya... are you cheating on me?" "What? Of course not, Emily! I... just wanted to get you something nice for Christmas, so I picked up some extra shifts at work," Maya explained. "Then what was with all the sneaking around?" Maya shrugged, "I wanted to keep it a surprise," she said. Emily blinked, "Oh," she mumbled, blushing. "Sorry..." "It's okay, Em. So... we're good?" Maya said, moving closer to the taller girl and wrapping her arms around Emily's waist. "Yeah Maya, we're good," Emily confirmed with a smile, the two lapsing into a comfortable silence as Maya slowly felt herself falling asleep.

"So... what it is this super secret present?" Emily couldn't help but ask. "You're gonna have to wait 'til Christmas to find out, babe," Maya said, her eyes sliding shut. "Maya?" Maya hummed in response, "It is Christmas." Maya furrowed her eyebrows and opened her eyes, "Oh crap." Emily laughed at her. "You've been working way too hard," she said, kissing the shorter girl on the forehead. "Go to sleep, I'll drill you about my present later."

When Maya opened her eyes again, she expected to find Emily laying next to her, but she was gone. "Em?" she called, sitting up. "Kitchen!" She heard her girlfriend say back, so she grabbed her phone and made her way to the kitchen, where Emily was making breakfast even though it 1 in the afternoon.

"Hey," Maya greeted, looking over the food already on the counter, "That looks good." Emily smiled as she flipped some bacon, "I have a good teacher. Grab some plates?" Maya moved to get them, but Emily grabbed her hand and pulled her back, pressing their lips together gently. "Merry Christmas," she said, smiling and pulling back from the kiss. "Merry Christmas," Maya echoed. She went for the plates then, pulling two out of the cupboard and handing them to Emily to put food on.

Before Maya knew it, she was nearly finished with her breakfast, prompting Emily to raise her eyebrows, "When was the last time you ate?" she asked. "Yesterday morning... I think," Maya responded, shaking her head. "You need to take it easy, Maya," "I know, but today was the last day I work until Friday then I'm free until the 3rd." Maya said reaching across the table to take Emily's hand.

The two ate in silence until Emily spoke again. "I got you something," she said, wiping at her mouth with a napkin. Maya smiled, "Really?" "Yeah, wait here." Emily exited the the kitchen then, disappearing for a she returned, she was carrying a black guitar case, which she put down on the ground in front of Maya. "I know how upset you were after Danny sold your favorite, so I searched high and low trying to track it down, and I finally did," she said as Maya sat on the ground and opened the case. The smaller girl's hand flew up to her mouth as she saw the polished black acoustic guitar inside. "I got it repainted and re-stringed. Do you like it?" Emily asked. "I've had this guitar since I was 11..." Maya shook her head and stood up, moving her hands to the back of Emily's neck and pulling her in for a kiss. "I love it, thank you," Maya said, blinking a few tears away.

"I uh, got you something too, " Maya said pulling out her phone. "You got me your phone?" Emily asked, confused. "No," Maya said, smiling as she navigated through her phone. "Here, read this," she said, grinning and handing the phone off to Emily. The taller girl mumbled to herself as she read through the text on the screen. Her eyes widened as she realized just what she was reading: an itinerary. "A ticket to see my parents?" she asked. "Yeah, I know you've been missing them a lot lately, so I thought you could go visit them after New Year's," "Maya, thank you so much," Emily said. Maya just smiled wider and pecked her girlfriend on the lips.

"No problem, Em. Wait, what time is it?" Maya asked. "2:05, why?" "Because your other present should be-" Just then, there was a knock on the door. "I got it," Maya said, heading towards the door. She went over to the front door and unlocked it, revealing her friend Derrick with a book bag and a small, squirming dog cradled in his arm "Merry Christmas Mymy. Everything's in here, food, food bowl, water bowl, toys, etcetera." he said, sliding the bag off his shoulder and handing it to Maya. "Merry Christmas dude, thanks for looking after him for the week." Maya said, taking the puppy from him. "You know I love dogs. Anyway, I'll leave you three." he said, wrapping an arm around Maya for a moment. "Merry Christmas, Emily," he called over Maya's shoulder. "Merry Christmas, Derrick," Emily said back, confused.

Maya closed the door and made her way back over to Emily. "Em," Maya said, smiling at the puppy and then at her speechless girlfriend, "This is Bailey," Maya introduced Emily to the puppy. Bailey let out a little bark as if he was excited to see Emily. "You wanna hold him?" she asked, holding the dog out to Emily. He barked again and wagged his tail, and Emily took him without hesitation. "Hi baby," she said. Bailey barked in response and proceeded to sniff her cheek before barking again and giving her a kiss. Emily looked back up at Maya, "I love him," she said, smiling the widest Maya had seen in days. "Good, because with him here, now we're a little family."

"So what do you want to do with the rest of our day?" Maya asked, putting the bag down and wrapping around Emily's waist. "Christmas movies?" Emily said shrugging as Bailey tried to move around in her arms. "Sounds good to me. What do you think Bailey?" Maya smiled as she asked the puppy, who barked again. "Alright then, Christmas movies it is."
