A few days later, they traveled on. Gemma cuddled into Kili's back, feeling absolutely exhausted. She was also hungry, but it did not look like they would be stopping for food anytime soon. There was a silence, as the rain gushed down on top of them. Kili had given Gemma his jacket, but she felt guilty. His hair was stuck to his head, and his clothes were absolutely drenched. Gemma felt awkward about breaking the silence first, but did so by whispering "would you like me to get your cloak from the bag?" to Kili. Kili twisted his head "sure..please".
Gemma leaned back slightly, grabbing the bag and lifting it onto her side. She pulled out Kili's cloak and handed it to him gently. He took it, throwing it over his head and they trotted on in silence.
Gemma noticed Bilbo in front. She was delighted he had decided to come along. She would have missed him otherwise. Though she had a feeling that he did not want to be there. Dori finally spoke, asking if Gandalf could stop the rain.
"It is raining, Master Dwarf..and it will continue to rain until the rain is done" was Gandalf's reply "if you wish to change the weather of the world
you should find yourself another wizard".
"Are there any?" asked Bilbo. "What?" asked Gandalf. "Other wizards" said Bilbo. Gandalf explained that there was five wizards. The greatest of their order was Saruman. There was two other blue wizards, which names he had forgotten. Bilbo asked about the fifth, and Gandalf explained that he was named Radagast The Brown. Then Bilbo asked something which made Gemma giggle. "Is he a great wizard or is he..more like you?".
Gandalf looked back at him"I think he's a very great wizard..in his own way" he turned again "he's a gentle soul, who prefers the company of animals to others. He keeps a watchful eye on the vast forestland's to the east..and a good thing too, for always evil will look to find a foothold in this world".

A few hours later the sun was shining brightly, which came as a relief to the young Hobbit. Her delight was broadened when Thorin told everyone to set up camp. Gemma was helped off the pony by Kili. She smiled at him as a thank you. "Fili,Kili, look after the ponies. Make sure you stay with them" ordered Thorin. Gemma looked at Kili sadly. He looked back at her with the same expression"you can come with me..if you'd like". Gemma smiled widely "sure!". Kili chuckled at her enthusiasm. She sure was a beautiful little thing. They made their way over to Fili, who grinned at Kili and winked. Gemma noticed this, and remembered the conversation between the two a few nights before. Was Kili really in love with her? Because she was sure in love with him..and she knew this.
"Excuse me Gemma may I have a word?" asked Bilbo. Gemma nodded "you two go ahead. I'll find you once I speak with Bilbo" she grinned at them. "Okay see you soon"smiled Kili, as he and his brother set off.
Gemma casually walked over to Biblo "yes brother?".
"You're spending a lot of time with Kili" he said, crossing his arms. Her cheeks flushed. He noticed! "Y-yes" she stuttered. "Do you like him?" he asked her. She nodded slowly, unsure of whether or not that was what he wanted to hear. There was a silence, and Bilbo clicked his tongue, obviously thinking. "I approve" he winked after a while.
She giggled and hugged him "I appreciate it..big brother". Bilbo wrapped his arms around his little sister. "Please just be careful, alright?" he pleaded. She was so precious to him. He loved her with all his heart..and Gemma loved him too.
"I will Bilbo" she smiled, pulling away. Her stomach rumbled just then, and she looked up at her brother, embarrassed. "Let's get something into you before you join them, huh?" he grinned, pulling her by the arm over to the fire.

two hours later, Gemma was full and she dashed to where Kili and Fili were. "What took you so long?" asked Fili, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Bilbo wanted me to eat.." she smiled, plonking down on a fallen three. Kili sat beside her. There was silence before Gemma noticed something. "Hey Kili..Fili..isn't there supposed to be sixteen ponies". They looked at her with eyebrows raised. "There is" said Kili, chuckling. He thought Gemma was just being silly, but then he turned his head and counted them. There was only fourteen ponies!
"Fili!" he exclaimed suddenly. Fili jumped "What?".
"She's right! there's only fourteen ponies!" said Kili, worry in his voice.
Gemma knew that Thorin would most likely kill them stone dead if they didn't find the ponies..and soon!
The sun was already halfway down in the sky. "They probably wondered off and were taken..we need to find them before Thorin finds out" Gemma said. Kili and Fili nodded in agreement. They searched high and low for the ponies, but couldn't seem to find them anywhere. "We're doomed" groaned Kili, flopping down on the log he had previously been sitting on with Gemma. Gemma didn't know how to react to Kili's sadness. She sat down and snuggled into his arm, resulting in Kili snuggling into her. Fili was smiling. They were the perfect couple..and he was happy for his little brother. "You know..I think you two should just kiss" smirked Fili. Kili and Gemma suddenly became embarrassed, not replying. "Go on..just once" Fili said.
Kili pulled away and glared at his laughing older brother. Gemma giggled, and Fili turned around "Go on, I won't look promise!".
Kili looked shyly at Gemma. "Do you want to?" he asked her. Her cheeks went a bright shade of red, but she nodded none the less. Just when their lips were not far from touching, Bilbo came around the corner. Fili turned and pulled Kili away from Gemma "Big brother alert" he whispered.
Gemma couldn't even look at Kili. They were about to kiss! Stupid , stupid Bilbo!
That was their only chance!
She glared at Bilbo, who didn't seem to notice. "Here ya go" he said, going to hand Kili and Fili their meal. They took it hesitantly, clearly not hungry. "Oh Bilbo we have encountered a problem..we could use your help" said Fili. "What's the matter?" asked Bilbo, glancing at each of them.
"Well we had sixteen horses and now there's only fourteen..don't tell Uncle Thorin" said Kili quickly and nervously. It took Bilbo a while to process the information, but once he realized he gasped. That's when Gemma noticed a fire in the distance. "Hey boys, there's a fire" she said, pointing to it. "Let's check it out" said Bilbo, earning a nod from everyone. They climbed over the fallen trees and stayed low. They could hear chattering and laughing. "What is it?" asked Bilbo. "Trolls" said Kili. Him and Fili jumped over the fallen tree, but Gemma and Bilbo looked at each other nervously. Trolls?
"Come on Gem, Bilbo" called Kili. Gem? Gemma blushed. It was a cute nickname. They followed quickly, running through the high grass and weeds swiftly. Once they reached a tree, they stopped and watched the trolls. "He's got Myrtle and Minty!" exclaimed Bilbo in a whisper. "I think they're gonna eat them we have to do something!" said Gemma. Kili looked at Bilbo, and Gemma seen what was coming next. "Yes! Bilbo should!" he said. "Mountain trolls are slow and stupid, and you're so small, they'll never see you" he continued. "no no no!" said Bilbo, he was clearly frightened. "It's perfectly safe we'll be right behind you!" said Kili.
Gemma was worried now, as Fili grabbed Bilbo and shoved him slightly "if you run into trouble, hoot twice like a barn own, once like a brown owl".
"Twice like a barn owl. No, twice like a brown-once like a-" Bilbo was flustered as Kili pulled Gemma away.

This couldn't possibly end well..
