I'm back with another chapter for you! You probably don't want to hear me rambling so, on with the story!
Superboy walked out of the room his friends were talking in, and headed towards his room. Wolf was right behind him, sometimes, he felt like Wolf was his only true friend. Miss Martian and him were no longer speaking to one another. Lagoon boy and him didn't really hit it off, being that Miss Martian went straight to him once her and Connor broke up. Nightwing tried to be friendly, but let's face it; Nightwing takes after Batman by being totally distant and anti-social. Connor, himself, was anti-social. He didn't feel like he fit in, after all he was a clone of Superman. Everyone else didn't know how he felt. They weren't clones.
Superman made an effort to like him, but Connor could still tell that Superman felt awkward around him. And it wasn't hard to see why. Connor paused by his door, before twisting the doorknob; he decided to bolt to the Zeta Beam. His super speed allowing him to slip by unnoticed. He needed to get out of the Young Justice HQ; he needed some personal space to think things out.
Nightwing was heading to Superboy's room. He had a feeling Superboy wouldn't be there, but he figured it wouldn't hurt to check. Nightwing reached Superboy's room. He put his ear up against the door, listening for sounds. There were none. That didn't surprise him. Wherever Superboy was, he was long gone by now.
Nightwing backed away from the doorframe, a serious look on his face. Where did Superboy go? He thought. Nightwing made his way to the obvious place, The Zeta Beam. Where else would Superboy go? The question was, where did Superboy intend to go? Of course, being the tech genius that he was, Dick could just hack into the system and find out where he went. But he decided that Connor needed his space, since his and Miss Martian's break up really took a toll on him. Dick decided to he would wait for Connor in the Command Center until he came back, then he would question him.
Nightwing was in the Command Center in a matter of seconds. There was really nobody to from since everybody was focused on the newcomer. Dick still didn't know if he completely trusted Peter, but Miss Martian knew how to do her job so he wasn't too concerned. Dick turned on the computer since technology was one of his getaways. He knew technology like the back of his hand, he could hack into any system, could access any file, in other words technology was his thing.
He tapped the computer screen, zooming in with his fingers. His eyes widened beneath his mask. Nightwing grabbed his nun chucks and headed over to the Zeta Beam. There wasn't any time to summon the team people were in trouble. They needed him now! Nightwing was gone in a matter of seconds as the Zeta Beam beamed him to Metropolis.
As Nightwing entered the scene, he watched as Superman battled a gigantic alien looking monster. As Superman blocked a punch that the monster was throwing, "Oh, hey, Nightwing," Superman struggled to say as he was battling the alien monster thing. "Care to help out?"
"I'll try." Nightwing said bravely.
"Help get the people out of the city. I can handle this fella on my own." Superman said as he threw a massive punch at the alien, making the alien fly backwards into a skyscraper.
"Got it." Nightwing said as he ran towards the scurrying people of Metropolis. Nightwing skidded to a halt as he saw what was in front of him. His eyes moved upwards and he saw one of the aliens blocking his path. Nightwing didn't stand in that daze for long. Basic Physics told him that if an object was bigger it moved slower, if an object was smaller it was more likely to move faster. However, for this particular occasion this was not true, as Nightwing dived under the monster's legs the giant creature grabbed him, trapping Nightwing in his clutches, the alien ever so slightly pinched his fingers together, crushing Nightwing in the process.
Nightwing cried out in pain, then he was brutally thrown across the battlefield, landing in a pile of rubbish. Nightwing's world was fading, his mouth was bleeding, probably from internal bleeding, and Nightwing was finding it very hard to breathe. It was painful for Nightwing to lift his arm up, but he did it. He pressed a button on his wrist it was a distress signal. Nightwing succeeded in calling his team, he smiled weakly at the thought. But it wasn't long until Nightwing started feeling light headed. His world was spinning, and he could feel his arm drop by his side.
Nightwing tried to keep his eyes open, knowing that if he closed them there was a chance that he would never open them again. But his world was fading, and he couldn't keep his eyes open anymore. His eyes slowly closed, and before he knew it, all he saw was darkness.
Back at Mount Justice, everyone was having fun, eating, talking, and messing around. But that was when they heard the alarms, and saw the flashing red lights. Everyone knew what to do in this situation, except Peter. He watched his new teammates rush past him. "What's going on?" He asked.
Beast Boy tugged at him. "C'mon, Peter. This is an emergency. No time to talk."
Peter allowed Beast Boy to lead him through the confusing hallways to their destination. Still, unsure about what was going on everyone crowded into a room Peter hadn't seen before. He leaned in to whisper into Beast Boy's ear, "What is this place?"
"We called it the Command Center, and that alarm was a distress signal." Beast Boy whispered back.
"Team, the distress signal was from Nightwing. The computer says he's located in Metropolis. Hurry, and suit up. We've got a city and a friend to save." Miss Martian announced. Everyone scurried off fast they could. "Beast Boy, where are they going?"
"They're suiting up. You should too." Beast Boy said. "You do have a costume, right?"
"Yeah, I have one. I just have to get my mask and then I'll be ready to help." Peter said. Then he noticed Beast Boy leaving with a crowd of people. "Hey, where're you going'!" Peter shouted at Beast Boy.
""I'm all ready, ready. I have to go with this group. See ya on the battlefield, Pete." Beast Boy said, as he was teleported away by this strange beam.
Peter ran to his room, quickly as he could to retrieve his mask. People needed him, well Spider-man at least.
