Sirius and Remus glanced at each other, to Harry, Ginny, and James from across the wooden dining table of Number 12 Grimmauld Place. Both seeing, James, Lily, and Harry when they looked over at the small recently discovered to be family.
Sirius noticed how much Harry looked like James when he was holding and playing with his infant son. He had never seen James without an enormous goofy grin across his best mate's face when Harry was in the room. Yet at the same time Sirius saw the fire behind Harry's eyes like he had in James', that look that told everyone in the room that they would be pulverized and hexed to a pulp if they so much as thought an evil wish against their precious baby. He had never seen the physical similarities to James in Harry as much as he had at that very moment.
Remus observed Ginny like he had Lily, they looked so similar and acted so alike that their images began to blur together in his mind. Seeing Ginny with James was deja vu to him, picturing the happy small family that belonged to two of his best friends and their beautiful baby boy. Remus saw the intense gleam in Ginny's eyes like he had in Lily's, telling him and everyone else around them that you wouldn't come out alive if you ever were dumb enough to attempt to hurt their perfect little angel.
Remus and Sirius caught each other's looks of utter shock and amazement at how much Harry's family was like James and Lily's. Even the way they were sitting and doing day to day things were practically identical to 15 years previous.
Remus' eyes then flitted over to where Tonks was sitting near by Harry and Ginny, looking at the smile that graced her face as her normally bubblegum pink hair changed colors every 15 seconds or so. She's so beautiful, Remus thought. Wait. What? I can't be attracted to Tonks! She's 13 years younger than me with a full life ahead of her, with boyfriends and a husband even children. Remus' heart ached at the thought of seeing her with a boyfriend that wasn't him, his brain quickly formulating a plan to smash any guy that was interested in Tonks to a bloody pulp. Not to mention she's Sirius' cousin. Remus reasoned with himself. Little did he know that Tonks was starring at him too.
No, don't stare Dora, don't stare. Yes, he's absolutely incredible and perfect, but don't look. Tonks thought.
As the meal progressed Sirius looked between Tonks and Remus, passing looks and slight smiles that made him want to gag. Just the thought of Remus and his baby cousin together made him want to throw up, and yet at the same time made him want to smile and see them happy together.
After breakfast Ginny made her way into one of the more comfortable cozier living rooms of the house, carrying James with her and bringing behind her Hermione and Tonks, who were eager to play with baby James. I can picture it now. Ron and a little girl curled up on his lap while practicing wizard's chess, me with our newborn son in my arms reading a fantastic book. Hermione thought, dreaming of a future where that scenario was acted out. Tiny little baby boy gurgling with laughter on his play mat with Remus playing with him and blowing raspberries on his pudgy baby tummy. Tonks gazed off looking no where in particular. Ginny also pondered her life with Harry and James. Was James an only child? Was there another one on the way? How long had Harry and Ginny been married before she was pregnant with James? So many unanswered questions, its overwhelming and frying my brain. Ginny observed. "Come to mama, baby boy." Ginny said to a crawling James while holding out her arms to receive him.
Meanwhile, Harry, Ron, and Remus were still sitting at the large table pondering the last few days and dreaming about their futures, the latter though they would not admit to anyone. How does she manage to look absolutely gorgeous and yet still be able to do other things like make jokes? Remus pondered. Ron was concentrating on a feeling he had never had before that morning, waking up with Hermione in my arms is the best feeling in the world. Like drinking sunshine, Ron decided. Harry however had other things on his mind, what do I do with my life after Voldemort? Its hard to imagine a life where he isn't trying to hunt me down and kill me. If I never defeated him how do I keep my family and friends safe? These questions troubled Harry very much. One by one the boys and man got up from the table, Remus, Ron, then finally Harry stood up from the table with an internal sigh, all walking into the living room with Tonks, Hermione, and Ginny.
"Harry. Ginny. We have done a basic location spell to discover where your son may be in the world." Kingsley said slowly and with all the calmness he could muster. "We were unable to find any trace of James Sirius Potter anywhere on earth." Kingsley announced, waiting for Ginny to burst into more tears, which she promptly did after Kingsley Shacklebolt spoke. "However, one of the Ministry people working on the case found a link that someone used an unauthorized time turner in England. We can only assume it is James." Kingsley finished.
"What can we do Kingsley?" Harry asked. How can we find him? How long will it take? And a million other questions were running through his and Ginny's head every minute they sat there with Hermione, Ron, and Kingsley.
Ginny had tears pouring out of her swollen bloodshot eyes and was holding a now completely blackened handkerchief from her mascara and eyeliner, holding her baby bump in the other. Harry glanced over and her and reached out to grasp her beautiful petite hand that had no calluses from quidditch anymore, where as before she had James she had a few almost all the time. Harry and Ginny communicated with only a look. Don't worry Gin, we are going to find him, nothing bad is going to happen to him. Harry attempted to reassured her. But what if something does happen and we can't find him? Or we can't get him back to our time and he is stuck there? What will that mean for us now and then? Ginny's panicked eyes said glancing over at Harry.
"Right now we can find out exactly how he was able to leave the house by himself and time travel." Kingsley informed the couples. "That will make it much easier to retrieve him once we know how he did it."
"Tonks, could you hold him for a moment, I need to run up and grab a few things for him to play with, I think he's getting bored with these," Ginny said, her finger indicating the toys lying on the floor of the sitting room. Tonks took James into her arms as carefully and untonks like as she could so as not to hurt James or embarrass herself in the process.
James smiled and giggled while Tonks entertained him by changing up her face and giving herself a funny nose, watching Tonks and James made Remus smile with amusement. Remus could feel a twinge of something inside himself that he could not identify. It isn't near the full moon at all, even if it was I have never experienced this feeling before in relation to my lycanthropy. Although I also have never had this sensation before as a human. Remus thought. He didn't know what, but something was pulling him, drawing him closer to the infant and Tonks. For a moment Remus pictured that this was his baby that was curled up in his mother, Tonk's arms. That mind picture caused Remus to smile, as it did for Tonks as well when she thought of the exact same scenario that had been running through Remus' head only a few moments previous. When the pair made eye contact and held each other's gaze they could both tell what the other had been thinking, I hope life ends up like this for me and Remus. Tonks thought. A perfect adorable little rug rat that would always bring smiles to our faces.
"Got some more toys, hopefully these will keep him preoccupied for a bit longer. Less work for mummy." Ginny admitted to a rather startled Tonks and Remus as she reentered the room and takes James from Tonk's arms. Ginny, then noticing that there was tension in the room coming from Remus and Tonks and decided that it was best for her to leave them and go find Harry. It's about time Remus and Tonks get together and both be truly happy for once. Ginny said as she left the sitting room carrying her son in her arms.
