Annabeth

"Any brilliant ideas from that brain of yours?" Percy asked as we ran across exhibits.

"Well, I guess we start looking for scrolls," I said, "since you know, the Book of Thoth is a scroll and all."

"Don't leave me behind," Nico groaned from behind.

"Sorry," Percy muttered and fell back a bit.

"You can go back to the statue if you're tired," I said.

"No, I'm fine," Nico said with a dark look. "I can keep on going."

We ran through several exhibits (and Percy got hit on the head with a clay vase) and Nico stopped us at a moving exhibit of mummies.

"There's something up there," he said pointing to the upper right corner of a wall. "I don't know what, but we can try to break it."

"Um, first things first," Percy said. "Can you um, tell these mummies to like, freeze?"

We ducked underneath an arm of a mummy and Nico snapped his fingers. The mummies collapsed in their spots.

"So, should we break it?" Nico yawned.

"Sure, why not? What's the worst thing that can happen?" I shrugged.

Percy threw Riptide with a bit of coaching from Nico on where to throw it. The wall started cracking, and I threw a piece of a broken tile on the floor with all my might. Surprisingly enough, it cracked. The wall broke off into a perfect square. A blast of dust puffed out.

"That's nice," Nico said. "But how do we get up there?"

"I don't know," I admitted. "It's pretty high. Do you think we could give ourselves a boost?"

Percy walked over there and tried to measure the height. "Don't think so."

I got out my sword and started hacking at the wall.

"Uh, what are you doing?" Percy asked. "Stress reliever?"

I rolled my eyes. "No."

I kept banging my sword in the wall until it created a groove that was big enough for a foot to go in. I kept doing that as I went up at 3 foot intervals.

After a very long time I reached the top and hoisted myself up. "You guys hurry up," I called down. "The wall is kind of unstable, so uh… it might collapse."

I silently cursed myself for not thinking of that earlier as they climbed up. Maybe we could've thought of a different way to get up. But then again, what were the other choices? Making a set of stairs out of the mummies? Or using the linen to make a rope ladder?

I went down on all fours. "I'll lead. You guys, just follow. I think it's a straight tunnel anyway, so it should be all right."

Then the wall started rumbling. "If things were 'all right,'" Percy said, "we wouldn't be demigods. Hurry!"

I crawled as fast as I can to the end. At the far end, there was an air duct. I looked through it and heard some loud music blaring out with the distraction team dancing with Setne… who was dressed in the same outfit as Carter.

"We're going to have to jump down," I said. "Setne is right below us, so if we time it right, we should be able to land on top of him."

"Nice planning," Percy grinned.

I popped open the air duct and it clattered to the ground on Setne's head. It bounced off like some cartoon and I jumped down, flattening him to the floor.

Percy jumped next with Nico following along.

"Hey!" Walt yelled. "The Book of Thoth is there somewhere on the counter. Hurry!"

"Carter, Sadie, over here!" Percy yelled.

Nico and I looked all over the counter for the scroll. Nico tossed aside some gold, diamonds, and other jewels while I tossed aside some paperwork.

"Is this it?" Nico asked pulling out a scroll.

"Yeah, it is!" Carter yelled. "Hurry before the museum collapses on us!"

"But we don't have a portal or anything to go through," Leo said. "And I'm pretty sure Nico's too tired to shadow travel all of us."

"It's fine!" Travis said. "Just pop in through here."

He stamped his foot and one of the tiles slid open revealing a tunnel like in the movies.

"It's pretty cliché, but it should do," Connor said and jumped in.

Travis jumped in after him.

"Is it safe?" Walt asked. "I don't think I can trust them anymore."

Leo shrugged. "Safer than here, at least." He jumped in.

I raised an eyebrow. "Your choice to follow us or not."

Nico tossed them the scroll and jumped in, with me and Percy jumping in after.

The tunnel was like a slide, and it was illuminated with LED lights. I didn't know how the Stoll brothers did this, but then again, I can never understand them.

"It's so bright," Nico groaned and I silently agreed.

"Get used to it," Leo said looking behind him. "Being in the dark 24/7 isn't good for you."

Nico scowled. "But I'm not in the dark for—"

"But you have to admit, this is a bit too bright," Percy said.

"We can change it, so stop complaining!" Connor yelled from below. "Where's the remote?"

They must have found the remote because soon the slide was lit up in pink with a romantic love song playing.

"You idiot," I heard Travis say. Then the lights changed again to something really dark. I faintly saw some 8-legged things crawling up the sides. And things that had eight legs…

I screamed. "Connor and Travis Stoll, you two are so dead!"

"Wow," I heard someone say.

I kept on screaming as more spiders came. I was glad when we finally got out.

"You two…" I said. "I hope you didn't forget what happened when you put a tarantula in my bunk…"

The brothers gulped and I started strangling them as they were keep shrieking, "We're sorry!" and "We'll never do it again!" and "Maybe!"

The Egyptians came sliding out too, but unfortunately, they must have been in a rush, because Walt landed on his head.

"Hey look," Percy said. "It's the camp truck."

I loosened my hold and followed Percy's line of sight. Sure enough, I saw our camp truck parked in front of the airport.

Leo grinned. "I programmed the thing to make us land where we wanted to go, or where we had to go. So this is what happened."

"Stupid Uncle Vinnie!" Sadie said stomping her foot.

"What?" Percy said.

"He has a copy!" Carter moaned. "After barely managing to get it again…"

"It's still one part accomplished," Walt said.

I looked to my right and saw that Nico had disappeared. Probably shadow traveled away.

"Anyway, we have to get going," Percy said. "I hope you can get back quickly?"

"Yeah," Carter said. "I'll call Freak. It was nice seeing you again."

I didn't know who 'Freak' was, but we all said our farewells, and ran up to the truck.

"Sorry it took us so long to catch up," I said.

The harpy driver just squawked and we hopped in the back.

"What happened to you… five?" Piper said as we got in.

"Well, Annabeth got really annoyed at Connor and Travis, and we were at this freak museum…" Percy started, and Jason raised a hand to interrupt.

"Why don't we just hear your story over some strawberries?" he said.

"I'm definitely with you on that," Percy said and they bumped fists.

"The harpies will notice!" Katie said again.

"Hey, it's fine," Travis said. "It's not like they're going to waste."

Everyone in the truck grabbed a small handful for themselves as they gathered around us to hear our story.

End of story! Kind of a bad ending, but meh. I suck at them anyway. XD

Any of you excited for the sequel to the Son of Sobek? Annabeth and Sadie are going to meet! Can't wait!
