New chapter, folks! This was originally supposed to be one big chapter but because both scenes are not related to each other, I decided to split them and make them into two. So yeah, this one day has been split into three chapters. But honestly, these are my favorite moments of the story, Finn and Roselinen getting to know each other before inevitable eventually happens. I hope you like it as I'm currently happy with it. Anyway, enjoy!

Imperfections

The day continued on with Roselinen showing Finn more and more about the Pillow Town, as much as she could anyway. Not going any further than what was needed, even at Finn's requests.

As they continue walking, they stumble upon a young pillow dude looking like a sofa cusion is seen trying to fix a torn hole on the floor.

"Hello, Denim!" Rosey calls out.

Denim attempts to wipe the dried sweat off his forehead but fails in the attempt. "Darn it." Then looks up to face the smiling pillow girl behind him. "Oh, hello, Roselinen."

"Did that hole open up again?"

"Yeah. I don't know why it keeps doing it. I've been tying every single knot, it's gotten to where I can't feel my arms anymore." Denim sighs. "I don't know. I'm starting to think I should leave it."

Roselinen ponders at this for a bit, and then shines at an idea. "Do you have a needle?"

Denim looked confused. "A what?"

"Never mind, I got one." Rosey's arm reaches and pushes at her as if trying to scratch a mean itch. She mutters to herself while it still locates it. "Aha!" She raises her arm back as it reveals a small thin metallic needle about the size of her hand out of it. "Thread, please?"

Denim reaches into his pockets and pulls out a bobbin of thread and hands it to Roselinen. She then carefully places the end of the thread into the top hole of the needle, pulls it and bites down on the bottom of it, tying it up afterwards.

"Excuse me." Denim makes room for her as she crouches down and places the needle down on the left side of the tear going straight to the right and so on, tying it right back up as if it was never there in the first place. Well, except for mismatched color that now replaces it. She bites the remaining thread off and ties that up carefully.

"There, good as new." Roselinen smiles at her finished work.

"Wow, thanks Roselinen!" Denim exclaims.

Rosey chuckles, "It's no problem, just don't stand on it for a couple days and it should be fine afterwards." She takes the thread off the needle and sticks it back in, well, her back. "Take it easy, okay?" She and Finn commence walking.

"I will!" Denim shouts as he waves. "Thanks again!"

Finn looks at Roselinen. "Doesn't that hurt?"

"Not really." Rosey said. "I taught myself how to sew when I was four. A lot of doctors and nurses learn how to do so when they have to repair an injury. I just thought of doing it as a hobby, you know?"

"Yeah, still that's math, yo."

Rose giggles. "Thanks."

They climb up a hill and sit down on it once they reach the end. The midday button sun is just in front of them not yet setting across the dark blue blanket sky.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" Rosey looks amazed.

"Very." Finn looks up as well, for as much as he can anyway without looking back at Roselinen and carefully examines how well the sun is hitting her, brightening her features. She catches him and he immediately looks back at the sky.

"So... have you ever been cut?"

"Oh, uh, once or twice. A few actually." Roselinen tries to remember. "There aren't that many sharp objects here. The only ones we have really are the needles everyone uses and daddy's office is the only place really that has scissors which we only use for emergencies. Daddy keeps them locked up now since the accident."

"What happened?"

"I was playing with them once and I cut my shoulder. It wasn't awful but it left a bit open and I had to go and get it stitched." She removes the grey cloth and loosens the left side of her dress to reveal a small but revealing purple stitch on her left shoulder.

"Did it hurt?"

"At the time, it did. But as I got older, I became very immune to pain, which is weird because no one ever feels it at that age. I tried asking dad about it but he told me it was just something every pillow child went through, certain stages of pain. Honestly, I never got it."

"Yeah, sounds confusing."

"So after that, I learned how to sew and I've been teaching myself ever since." She continues looking outward. "It's not that hard, really."

"That's awesome, Roselinen." said Finn. "Hey, you should be a doctor. I bet they'd really need someone like you."

"Nah, they got enough peeps as it is." Rosey shrugged it off. "Besides, I like just chilling in the background. I like being able to help out people whenever I'm needed and just being there not really having a title other than the mayor's daughter."

"What do you mean?" asked Finn. "I thought you liked your dad."

"I do, I really do." Rosey replied. "It's just the responsibility that comes with that title that gets to me. I like being around people and helping them out and stuff, but I've never really had people to talk about it with except for my dad and maybe Goldy." She looks down playing with the sewed pattern on the ground. "I don't have many friends my age and the ones that are my age don't talk to me much, mostly because I'm...different."

"How so? You look fine to me."

"I'm taller, I wear a dress, I have hair, arms, legs, am I missing anything?"

"Your lips are a little bulgier but other than that, no."

"Oh," Roselinen covers her mouth, worried. "Are they?"

"No, no!" Finn stumbles. "I didn't mean like that! I meant-" Rosey turns around. Finn thinks of something real quick, then snaps his fingers. He moves places and faces a near crying Roselinen. "This is gonna sound really weird but just bear with me, okay? Look." Finn opens his mouth and reveals his teeth which are rather messed up, I must say, with almost half of them missing or broken.

"See that?" He points to a gum where a tooth was once located. "I fought a giant bear monster ages ago which cost me that tooth." He points to another one. "And over here, I was duking it out with my bro Jake and he got me good." Last one is a broken tooth. "And this was when we had to eat rocks for breakfast because we didn't have any food. They weren't bad though."

"What's your point?" Rosey asks, confused.

Finn lets go of his mouth and realigns it again. "Imperfects are like, part of you, you know? You shouldn't let anyone get to you because you're...diffs and junk. Heck, we're all different, just in our own way. How we look, how we act, glob made us the way we are for a reason. If not, then we'd all be boring and-" He loosens his head down and fake sleeps, complete with fake snoring. Rosey giggles.

"See? You shouldn't worry what other peeps say about you, cause you're already perfect, in here." He points to his chest, at his heart. Well, almost his heart. He keeps pointing at his lungs and can't seem to get a good aim. Rosey guides him toward it. "Right here." she says softly.

"Yeah, thanks." Finn says remotely. "Besides, from what I've been, everyone seems to like you the way you are, and if they don't, then, well, I like ya." His cheeks turn red.

Rosey blushes even more, to the point where she hides her face in her blond hair.

Finn nervously laughs and hides his face too as he scratches his head. "Well, as a friend, you know. I'd be happy to be your friend." He smiles and looks at her.

Rosey puts her hair back and approaches Finn a bit closer, embracing him. "Thank you, Finn. That means a lot."

"I know, Roselinen." Finn hugs back.

"Rosey's okay too."

"Okay, Rosey."

They stay like this for quite a bit as the button sun slowly starts to set in the sky.

"You're very comfy, by the way." Finn states.

Rosey laughs. "Thanks?"

The second part of this will show up sometime this week. Then we can finally move on with Finn's other experiences here and plenty more of him with Roselinen. Look forward to y'all reading it! :D
