A/N: Hello to all! Here's a chapter that you know you'd like to review! You know I'm right! So don't forget!
Chapter 7:
It was finally Christmas. Lily was excited to go home and see her family. Sh was hesitant about seeing Petunia but she still couldn't wait to see her sister. Despite all of their previous disagreements and problems.
"I'm going to miss you Lily darling!" Alice cried out as they were leaving the compartment. Surprisingly only Lily and Alice were going home. Along with Severus and the Marauders. Needless to say, the train ride home was interesting.
James and Sirius had messed with Sev a bit too much for Lily's liking. She yelled at him. It seemed that Lily and the Marauders were no longer friends. This upset James, he had really taken a liking to Lily but there as nothing he could do but persistently annoy her and Sev until she'd talk to him. Even if it was yelling at him, it was interaction. And that was all he could really ask for.
The students all filed out of the train compartments and ran over to their families. Lily hugged Alice and Sev before skipping over to the Evans family.
Her mum and dad greeted her with huge hugs and warm smiles.
Lily smiled, it was nice being back with her family.
Once they were in the car all the questions came and Lily started to gush about her fantastic time at Hogwarts. How she made friends, how beautiful the castle was, what kids were annoying (Potter and Black) and all the professors and the classes they taught. Her favourite was by far Charms. And not only because she was so good at it. She just loved it.
Once they got home Lily ran inside in hopes to find Petunia. She burst into her sister's room without knocking. Petunia was sitting on her bed writing in what looked like a diary.
Petunia's head snapped up, "YOU CAN"T JUST BARGE IN –"
Then her eyes went wide. "Lily?"
Lily smiled and nodded.
"Oh Lily! I missed you so much!"
She put her diary in a drawer in her nightstand and ran over to her little sister.
Sniffling slightly Lily whispered, "I missed you too Tuney."
Little did they know Jenna and Mark were standing in the doorway relieved that their daughters could tolerate being in the same room as one another again. Could things possibly be back to normal? Petunia had been acting like a zombie the past few months without Lily here. It could possibly be good for her health.
Lily and Petunia broke their hug apart and smiled brightly.
"Wanna hear about Hogwarts?" Lily asked happily.
"Er – I suppose it wouldn't hurt..." Petunia agreed grudgingly.
Lily looked ecstatic. She plopped down on the floor and began rambling on and on about the castle, the classes, her teachers, the students, the houses, and basically anything else she could talk about within the next half hour or so.
And then it was night. After a small family dinner, Lily went up to bed.
Laying down in her familiar sheets she thought about everything that had been happening. Petunia accepting her again, her mother and father being so thrilled about her studies, being home again. It was nice. Right as Lily was slipping into a deep peaceful sleep a certain messy-haired Gryffindor boy with hazel eyes and glasses crossed her thoughts. Lily smiled and rolled over as she fell asleep.
Soon enough it was Christmas morning. Lily jumped out of bed and ran into Petunia's room. She tapped her lightly on the shoulder.
"Tuney! Tuuuneeey! Get up! Get up! It's Christmas!"
Petunia's eyes fluttered open. With a few blinks she was full of energy and life.
"Happy Christmas Lily!"
"Happy Christmas Tuney! Now let's go wake mum and dad."
the two girls ran into their parents' room and jumped up on the bed.
"Get up! Get up! It's Christmas!" they chorused.
After ten minutes of brushing teeth, putting on robes and slippers, and combing hair, the family of four rushed downstairs.
Lily and Petunia gasped as they saw the tree. There were presents galore!
With determination and excitement they began opening them all..one by one.
All but two presents were opened.
"Open mine first Lils" Petunia urged.
Lily giggled and took the small box from her sister's hand.
Ripping open the wrapping paper a large smile grew on her face. It was a jewelry box.
She gently lifted the lid and gasped when she saw what was inside.
It was a charm bracelet.
There were six charms dangling from it. A petunia, a lily, a small golden castle, a little train, a small square with "Best Friend Forever" engraved on it and last but not least a heart with Sisters on it.
Lily stared at the small charm bracelet in awe.
"Want me to put it on you?" Petunia asked.
"Yes please." Lily said softly.
Petunia fastened the bracelet around Lily's small wrist.
Lily shook her wrist and the charms tinkled softly.
A small but yet magical noise.
"My turn!" Lily exclaimed.
She handed Petunia a badly wrapped box shaped present.
Petunia smiled at her little sister's horrible wrapping.
She tore off the paper and smiled at the gift inside.
It was a diary.
"How did you know I needed a new one?" she asked softly.
"I didn't. I got you this one because it's enchanted!" Lily exclaimed proudly.
Petunia grimaced a bit.
"Oh."
"Tuney let me explain. It will only open to your touch. It's enchanted so anyone else who tries to open it will get ink squirted all over them. Trust me...I tried it!"
Petunia smiled more genuinely this time and hugged Lily.
She whispered in Lily's ear, "Thanks Lils. Even thought it's magic. It's really sweet of you. I love it."
Lily smiled. She was so relieved that Petunia didn't freak out because it was magic. She had been truly worried about that.
But magical things were the only thing Lily could give to her. She had nothing else.
But Petunia had accepted the magical present.
Maybe things between the two of them would finally go back to normal.
"So tell me Lily, are there any guys you like?"
"What? Me? No way!"
"Well do you have any friend that are guys?"
"Well yeah, there's Sev. And then there's Jam– never mind. Just Sev."
"Who is this Jam– kid?"
"James. James Potter."
"And why are you no longer friends with James Potter?"
"Because he's a jerk!"
Petunia sighed, "And how is he a jerk?"
"Well, he and Sev don't get along that well. Mostly because Sev comes from a bad family and he's a Slytherin. Slytherin is all the bad kids. So Jam–Potter says that he's a bad guy and I shouldn't hang out with him. But I know Sev. He's a good guy! And Sev doesn't like Potter because he always plays pranks on him. I mean yes they are funny sometimes but it's just cruel the way he picks on Sev! He's my best mate! So I yell at Potter and he just smirks at me! It drives me mental! He's such an arrogant, big-headed toe-rag!"
"So his smirk drives you crazy?"
"Yes!" Lily cried.
"And he doesn't like Sev because he thinks he's a bad guy?"
"Yup."
"And he lets you yell at him all the time?"
"Yes. Where are you going with this?"
"Hush. I ask the questions. Has it ever occurred to you that James may fancy you?"
Lily burst out laughing. "Of course he doesn't! We're just friends Tuney. Well...we used to be. Not anymore."
Lily frowned. "I miss him being my mate. I had a dream last night and he was in it. It was just me and him hanging out like old times. I miss it so much."
"You had a dream about him? Lily do you fancy him?"
Lily was shocked. "What! No. No way do I fancy James Potter! He is an arrogant, big-headed toe-rag! Did you miss that part Tuney?"
"Sorry sorry! Just wondering.." Petunia said containing her smirk.
It really did seem that her little sister fancied this James Potter boy. Hopefully they'd be friends again soon.
Petunia wanted to see Lily be happy. And it seemed that James Potter made Lily happy.
The days flew by and soon enough Lily was packing her trunk to go back home to Hogwarts.
Petunia stood in the door frame, "Do you really have to go back to that freak school?"
She slapped a hand over her mouth.
"Lily, I didn't mean to say that!"
Lily turned on her heel to face Petunia. "Listen Petunia, I know you don't like my school. I get it, you think me and all my friends are freaks. But I belong there! I'm learning to become the best witch you'll ever know of! I understand that you hate the fact that I'm a wizard and you aren't, but get over it Tuney! Just be happy for me!"
Petunia looked away from her little sister, she had blown the chance of a friendship again with her. She felt like her heart had been ripped out.
"Sorry Lily," she whispered as she walked down the hallway.
Lily stood there fuming. How could she call her a freak again? After all they had went through to become friends again?
After a few moments sadness and regret washed over her as she realized that Petunia would probably never be her friend again.
She finished packing her trunk just as her parents called to her telling her that they had to go now or else she'd miss the train.
So with a last longing look at her sister's door, she picked up her trunk and followed the sound of her parents' voices calling her.
