The next movie night didn't go quite as well as the last one. The movie ended up not being interesting and hearing Captain America shout "Language" at a screen does get boring after a while. Petra couldn't discus anything about it with the constant interruptions. Bruce found his temper tried. Natasha of all people ended up threatening to sedate him if Steve wouldn't stop it, and she was on her best behavior! No one managed to ignore the annoying irritant.
No matter what anyone tried, he wouldn't be quiet about it. He kept scolding the scenes the characters found themselves in. He ranted at its raunchy jokes. He wouldn't cease his complaints. Tony was smug at how far he had reduced his rival for leadership, but even he was getting annoyed. "Would you please stop with the interruptions already?"
"No, how on earth do you not see how repulsive this garbage is?" Steve retorted.
"It's not that we all consider it good quality," Petra spoke up in an unexpected move. "The problem is how annoying and disruptive your unproductive complaints are! If you dislike it so much, ask to leave or request a different movie. As it is, everyone else here is just annoyed by your pointless rambling"
When everyone stared to look at her, Petra suddenly felt the need to defend herself. She resisted it a few moments but when everyone kept looking, she spoke up. "It's true!"
"Are you agreeing with Cap or chewing him out?" Bruce asked.
"Yeah, who's side are you on?" Tony questioned, "You should be siding with me"
"How on earth can you agree in one sentence and disagree on the other?" Steve asked.
Both Clint and Natasha gave their silent agreement, not willing to stick their necks out as much as the others were.
Petra had to speak up again. She refused to be part of this argument. "The only thing that I was asking was for you to stop making your arguments so emotional and to start using facts, mister Rogers. I will be having dinner in my room tonight, if that's alright with you Dad" Hopefully the retraction to one wish would stop the bombardment from all sides. The use of a relational term for Tony (he could be dad if he wanted to) might cut off the insecurity about her agreeing with his rival on one topic. No one objected as she left, and taking an overly large portion of tonight's pizza should remind Bruce about his promise to meet with her tonight, even though he might wait a little longer in order to be discreet.
