Hello friends! Thank you so much for the wonderful reviews!
yessikg – Thank you! I'm glad to know you like it! Oh, and be welcome! =)
HELEN – Or may I call you Mrs. Merlin? It'll be really nice have an original character being with Merlin. I was thinking about put him with Morgause, but they don't match! So, welcome to the cast! Oh, tell me a little bit about you, so we can create the character. I've already an idea about how to make you enter in the story (surprise!). ;)
Maya – Thanks! So you liked little Uther, hum? Sometimes the king really acts as if he were a boy! About Kevin's destiny (hoho, I'm feeling like if I were the great dragon talking like this!), he still has some tasks here in Camelot... =)
Bilko – Thank you for the review! And I think you're right. I'll try to use other words to say that. And welcome here! =)
By the way, if someone else wants to join in the cast, just let me know and I'll find a way! The most important here is to have fun...
However, for now... What does Morgana knows about sights?
Previously...
"Morgana! Come in!" Gaius said. "You cried! What happened, my child?"
"Uther and I have an argument about my nightmare. Gaius, you have to help me, he doesn't believe it's going to happens!"
"Calm down, Morgana. I called you exactly to talk about this. Come, my child, let's sit."
All the three sat at the table. Morgana was thinking that was odd. Gaius's had never talked too much about her dreams before. And now he called her for this?
Gaius sighed. It was now or never. He loved Morgana as someone from his own family; he cared so much about her. He wanted to help the girl. And he must do this.
"Morgana, what do you know about sights?"
Chapter 7
"I... I don't, Gaius." Morgana was so confused. What was that? "A sight... just like when a witch sees the future? Is it what you meant?"
"Yes." Gaius was smiling. What a blessing to have a smart pupil at least once!
"But Gaius, I can't understand... why are you asking me this?"
"Well... let's imagine a seer who isn't allowed to develop and use her powers. What would happen to her?"
"I think... I think her powers would be out of control."
"Yes, Morgana, very good." Gaius was so weird today! She was feeling like a young girl being taught how to read. "And what if she slept? You know how our self control disappears during the sleep..."
"She would... have her sight while sleeping?" Morgana concluded, letting Gaius and Merlin proud.
"And what would happen when she awakes, my child?" Merlin was amazed by Gaius' technique! If it were him doing this he would probably just say everything and made her even more scared...
"She would... think that it was a dream and... oh!" She realized. "Gaius... are you trying to tell me..."
"Say it, Morgana." Gaius encouraged her. Merlin didn't dare to breathe.
"I'm... I'm a witch." She couldn't believe. "Of course! That's why my nightmares always come true! I'm a witch, my dreams are sights!"
"Very good, Morgana!" Gaius was smiling at her.
"No! That's terrible, Gaius!" Morgana was agitated. "Can't you see? He's going to hate me!"
"What... Morgana, don't be insane, nobody could hate you." Merlin holds her hands, trying to calm her down.
"Merlin!" Gaius reprehended him.
"Oh, he'll, Merlin... I... I have magic! You don't know how it is." She was almost desperate.
Merlin relieved her hands, and united his palms while the lady was wondering what he was about to do. The boy murmured something and, when he opened his hands, there was a small fire burning there.
"Yes, I know perfectly well how it is."
"Merlin! Oh goddess! You... you have magic too!" Morgana was very surprised.
"You aren't alone, my child." Gaius said. "We're going to help you to understand and control your gifts."
"Gaius... I... You always knew about this, don't you?" Morgana asked seriously. Gaius's thought this could happen.
"Yes."
"And you saw me having this dreams... No! These... these sights, since I was a little girl and you never told me!" She was more disappointed than angry. "Why?"
"Morgana, it was complicated. I... I always could notice you have magic, but as you know well, our king doesn't deal that well with it. At the beginning, I didn't say anything to protect you from him." Morgana was listening with much interest, as if Gaius were telling her something about who she was. Well, and he was. "After some years, as you were growing up, your gifts were becoming stronger, and I feared the king could figure it out... I feared your magic could put you in danger, Morgana."
"But I can see you haven't feared for Merlin." Her voice was still disappointed.
"It's different! When he arrived here he was already grew up and he already knew about his magic... and he isn't the king's ward, as well." Gaius pointed.
"Oh!" One more wave of shock passed by Morgana's face. "I've told him! Gaius! I've told him my nightmares! He's going to know I have magic and..."
"Calm down, my child. We're going to think about this together." Gaius said, concluding 'he' was the king.
"Gaius, but... Uther can't know about my magic yet and... and I can't lose him. But he doesn't listen to me when I try to tell him what is going to happen... He doesn't believe..."
"Morgana, if he believes, he would admit you're a witch." Gaius pondered.
Morgana got up, sighed and paced around, clearing her mind. In some moments she went back to the table.
"Gaius, how are you so sure everything is going to be fine? I wish I had your hope!"
"Because the dragon said so!" Merlin said excited.
"The... dragon? It's... it's a joke, right?" She was starting to get afraid of asking more...What else she didn't know?
"No! It's true, you have to see him!" Merlin continued.
"Merlin!"
"Gaius, what..." Morgana was lost.
"My child, I was about to tell you about this... When I noticed how your gifts were increasing, I went to talk to the dragon..."
"Gaius... you talked to... a dragon?" She couldn't believe. "I thought there weren't dragons here anymore..."
"Well, there's one, it..."
"He's amazing!" Merlin interrupted again. "You have to meet him, Morgana!" The boy had a big and sincere smile on his face.
"Merlin, are you allow me to talk?" Gaius was a bit angry now, making the lady smile.
"I'm sorry..."
"Good. When the king had banished magic from Camelot, one only dragon remained, and he confined it in the caves under the castle."
"What?" Morgana was shocked now. "Uther did this?" Prankish boy!
"Well... yes, he did." Gaius was calm. "Remember it was another time... everything was different, Morgana." He made a pause, so she could absorb everything she's heard. "Dragons are the wisest magical creatures, Morgana. He knows about everyone's destinies. Thus I went to him, to get an advice when you were a little girl, so I could know what to do."
"And...?" She was so anxious.
"And the dragon said me it would be better if you never knew about your magic. He explained me you, at that time, would have a terrible destiny involving killing the king and destroying Camelot."
"Gaius!" Morgana got up in shock. "I would never! I... I couldn't kill Uther!"
"Calm down, my child." Gaius got up, helping her to sit again. "I know. But at that time, going the way things were, that was the destiny."
"Oh... so... why are you telling me about my sights now?"
"Morgana, yesterday morning Uther came to see me." She already knew about this. But she wouldn't tell it. "He was really worried about you."
"Really worried..." Merlin repeated smirking.
"Merlin!" Gaius reprehended him another time. "And after my talking to the king, and everything that had happened yesterday, I... I send Merlin to ask the dragon about you and your gifts."
"You can be calm, Morgana!" Merlin interrupted him again. The boy was so happy, so excited.
"What do you mean?"
"Your destiny has changed!" Merlin continued. "You aren't going to kill the king or to destroy the kingdom or anything..."
"Obviously not! I couldn't!" She was shocked... she killing Uther? "Merlin, but... how could it change?" She was relieved, but still confused.
"The dragon said your love changed the destiny."
"My... my love!" She smiled, her eyes shining. Merlin smiled too.
"So he said." Merlin answered. "You're in love, aren't you?"
"Yes, Merlin."
"And does he know about your feelings yet?" Merlin continued, very interested.
"Yes... he does." Morgana was much calmer, thinking about her Uther.
"So he feels the same for you." Merlin concluded. It wasn't a question. How could any man, knowing about Morgana's feelings for him, doesn't feel the same? "Does the king know about this?"
"Merlin..." She didn't know what to say.
"Don't worry, I wouldn't tell." Merlin said. "Who's he?"
"Merlin, please, give her a time to breath!" Gaius intervened. "Moreover, we don't need to know about this, do we, Merlin?"
"No." The boy blushed, looking to his own hands.
"Good."
Uther was furious!
He left the throne room and walked along the castle, didn't worrying about where he was going, the king only need to make his ideas clear. And walking was excellent to do this!
He was proud of himself for had released that little boy. Morgana was really right; he wasn't the man who would be so bad to a kid. Even a kid who had magic. She was changing him in a good way! And what he made? He made her cry. Again.
His steps were driving him by some stairs, going up. And suddenly he saw himself in front of Morgana's chambers door. Damn!
He had to go out of there! Why? Even when he wants to forget a little bit about her he couldn't! His mind and his body betrayed him.
Uther went to outside the castle. Yes, some fresh air would be good!
The problem was she couldn't understand that he, being the king of Camelot, had some duties with his people. He must fight. It wasn't a choice. She was taking her nightmares too seriously. And she couldn't expect he would believe it! Come on, it was a dream... She believed it would come true but... but it was because she was so scared. Yes! Of course he will be by her side, but he couldn't take it seriously. It would be madness!
The king arrived at the area where Arthur and the knights were fighting. Better there than at his ward's empty chambers.
"Arthur!" The king called him.
"Yes, sir!" Arthur stopped his fight against Sir Leon and went to talk to the king.
"Give me a sword. I want to fight!" The king demanded.
"But you aren't even wearing your armour!"
"Arthur, can you please just do what I say?" The king was angry... why? He was so... happy few hours ago.
"Of course, sir."
"Here, take the mine, my lord." Sir Leon borrowed his sword to the king.
"Thank you. Now fight, Arthur!"
Arthur didn't have time to protest since the king was attacking him furiously.
"What's the problem, father?"
"No problem, Arthur." The men were talking without stopping the fight. "I just want to fight!"
"It's her. Am I right?" Arthur tried, taking advantage from the king's surprise to attack.
"I can't imagine what you mean." Uther defended a stroke perfectly well.
"Oh, you can. Morgana." Arthur continued. "You should be careful with her."
"What? Arthur, I would never hurt her!" The king attacked.
"Of course, father." Arthur defended an especially hard attack. "But you didn't get it. I mean, she's smart. And she's very beautiful. She can easily put wrong ideas in men's heads."
Uther's furious attack made Arthur's sword fall from his hand.
"What are you insinuating, Arthur?" The king was really angry, possessed.
"She made you release that boy. I'm not blind, father. I don't know what's happening, but she's trying to have some power over you and over Camelot! And if I know Morgana, she'll try anything."
How he dares? The king was still attacking while Arthur was walking back, trying to defend himself.
"Arthur, she was right about the kid. And never, are you listening to me?" The king was still furious. Arthur fell over his back and Uther touched his neck with the tip of his sword. "Never more talk about her like this. Understood?"
So Uther just dropped the sword and walked back to the castle, leaving Arthur trying to understand what was going on.
"We need a plan." Morgana said after had told in details her nightmares... well, her sights, to Gaius and Merlin. "Uther is determined to fight. But we can't let him just die."
"Do you have anything in mind?" Gaius asked, relieved to see the lady was calmer and thinking clearly.
"Well... I'd thought about tell him everything. My nightmares and how they use to come true. And ask him not to fight... But he didn't understand me and now I can't say this. He can't know I'm a witch, right?"
"He must know at the right time, my child." Gaius explained. "So said the dragon."
"Oh!" Merlin's face had a bright smile. "We can't take the king out of the championship... but the sorcerer we can!"
"It sounds silly, Merlin." Gaius pointed.
"No!" Morgana had a sincere and hopeful smile, making her two friends look at her. "It sounds brilliant! Merlin, you're a genius!"
"Am I?" The boy was smiling enchanted. Lady Morgana thinks he's a genius! Oh gods!
"But Morgana..." Gaius insisted. "How we could do something like this? We can't just ask him not to fight."
"Easy!" The lady was full of enthusiasm. "At the first day of the championship we wait for Kevin's father's fight. So we'll know that his opponent is the man we're looking for."
"Yes, but and then? What would we intend to do to this man?" Gaius saw what she meant.
"Just make sure he can't continue to compete." Merlin said.
"By killing him." Morgana completed receiving shocked gazes from both men.
The physician's chambers became a mess of voices and protests.
Arthur went to his chambers. He was sweaty after spend all the morning and the beginning of the afternoon fighting and training with the knights, and all he wants was a good bath and some food.
"Merlin?" He called.
Silence. Just after breakfast Gaius had gone to him, asking for Merlin's help. Gaius usually asks Merlin to go to the woods pick up some herbs, or to help him preparing and delivering some potions. So it sounded natural to Arthur. Plus, he hadn't so much work to give Merlin when he was training. Arthur didn't think Gaius would need Merlin's help during so much time... Anyway, he could find someone else to prepare him a bath and bring some food.
He took off his shirt, feeling heat because of all his exercise. He noticed that there was water in the bath, however it was cold. He went to open the door, so he could ask a guard to call a servant. However, what a coincidence! As he opened the door he saw her...
"Guinevere!" He forgot everything. About Merlin. About call another servant. About the weird way his father was acting during the last few days. The conversation they had while fighting. His bath. His hungry. And even he was shirtless... what didn't escape from Gwen's eyes.
"Sir." She bowed. She couldn't help but look at his body. He's the crowned prince, Gwen! Do not look at him this way! "May I help you, my prince?"
"Yes!" Oh! What on earth was he doing? "I... I went to call someone to bath. To prepare me a bath, I mean!" He added quickly as he saw the girl blushing. "And also to bring me some food, I haven't lunched yet. If you could call someone to me..."
"I can help you." Gwen said promptly, fighting against the image of Arthur bathing.
"Guinevere, I don't want to disturb you..." But I would love having you in my chambers! Of course he didn't say this part...
"You aren't. It's my job, Arthur." Oh, she called him by his name! Stop looking, Gwen, you aren't thinking well! The prince, however, would remember her voice saying his name for days – maybe weeks.
"Morgana can need your help." Arthur pointed.
"She's talking to Gaius..."
They smiled at each other and entered in his chambers. Gwen quickly put a bucket full of water to boil. Her movements were very elegant and lovely.
"You're so beautiful... you shouldn't be doing this things." Arthur couldn't reprehend himself before saying that.
"It's my job, sir." Gwen was a little blushed. Well, she wasn't so shy, it was just that... hum... it wasn't usual to her have Prince Arthur shirtless saying she was beautiful! Of course! It was only that.
"Please, call me Arthur! Why are you so formal with me?"
He looked into her eyes and... Oh! His eyes were so... blue!
"Arthur..." Gwen wasn't thinking. If she were she would notice the water was already boiling and the door was opened. "You know we shouldn't..."
"Why?" He was so near to her... and wasn't pulling away! His blue eyes were getting closer and closer!
"Because you're the prince and... and..." And your eyes are really beautiful...
He interrupted her with a kiss. A sweet and chaste kiss, but it made their hearts beat harder. Gwen was feeling so protected having his muscled arms around her... While Arthur was amazed having her soft body against his.
"Arthur!" She pulled away, blushed, as she realized that the half naked prince was kissing her in his chambers. "We can't." She whispered. Their faces still near.
"Why? Don't you love me, Guinevere?" Why was she saying they couldn't? He loves her! And he also had noticed her glances, the way she blushes when they talk... Oh, she definitely feels something!
"Arthur, please..." Gwen didn't want to pour a tear, but it was just so unfair! She loves him so much, but she couldn't do this, she was just a maid, after all... "I... I'm so sorry, sir."
And saying that she just ran away from his chambers, almost shoving Merlin, who was about to enter.
"Guinevere!" Arthur called her, but the girl didn't dare to stop.
"Arthur... what happened to her?" Merlin asked.
"I'm an idiot, Merlin."
"Yes, I know." Arthur looked shocked at him. "But I'm still your friend!"
"Shut up, Merlin!"
The afternoon passed quickly in Morgana's chambers. Her conversation with Gaius and Merlin finished with the physician saying they should talk to the dragon to have an advice about her recent sights before any kind of drastic act.
When the lady arrived at her chambers, she found Gwen there, crying. So they spent almost all the afternoon talking about her feelings for Arthur, Morgana's argument with Uther and, of course, the fact that she's a seer.
"You see, Gwen, what happened to you and Arthur isn't a bad thing! He loves you! And I know you're going to be together."
"Really? Did you see this with your gifts?" Gwen was excited.
"No, I don't need to. You belong together, anyone can see this!" Morgana said making her best friend smile. "Uther and me, by the other hand..."
"What are you saying, Morgana? Uther loves you! Of course sometimes you argue, because you two have so identical personalities! But you're clearly in love with each other." Gwen said. "As I said to you before: love someone doesn't mean that you must agree about everything!"
"And neither means that you must be of the same social class, right Gwen?" Morgana smiled, making Gwen blush. "But I don't know if I can make it works... Now that I know that I have magic... How long can I take this apart from him?" She had a sad smile on her face. Goddess, life is so ironic sometimes! When she starts to understand something about her, she realises it would bring some troubles to her relationship with Uther.
Gwen sighed. Love was something complicated sometimes.
"Well, Morgana... maybe it's time for the king reconsider his opinions about this topic."
"Oh, Gwen, he's so stubborn! Sometimes he makes me mad!"
"I understand..." She didn't knew what else to say, so the girls just stood in silence. Poor Morgana, Gwen could see how much she loves the king and how difficult her situation, having magic, could be. "Morgana, why do you think we always fall in love with the complicated men?"
"Because the easy ones aren't fun!" They smiled at each other.
"I'm going, Gaius! How do I look?" Merlin was excited.
"Like always, Merlin." The physician answered no stopping reading his book. "Remember it isn't a date, boy."
"Yes, I know." He answered carefully.
"So all you have to do is meet her at her chambers, go talk to the dragon and take her beck safely."
"Of course, I can do this." Merlin was still excited.
"I don't need to say you mustn't enter Lady Morgana's chambers, do I, Merlin?" Gaius was very serious.
"Gaius, you know, she loves another guy... You should trust her; she won't do anything to me..." Merlin joked.
"I trust her. But I really don't know if I should trust you in this kind of situation..." Merlin was laughing, but Gaius was still serious.
"I should go now. Don't worry, Gaius, I'll do everything right!"
"I hope so, Merlin..."
The girls were still talking about all her news when they heard someone knocking.
"I should go, now." Gwen got up, thinking it could be the king... And surely she didn't want to be in her lady's bedchamber with those two!
"Oh, I think its Merlin." Morgana said.
Morgana had told her friend that Merlin would help her to control her magic, since Gwen already knew the boy was a warlock. Well, it would be difficult to keep it from her anyway... And she said to her about the dragon. She liked to share all that information with Gwen, because she always understands her!
"Merlin!" Morgana opened the door with a smile that made his heart stops for a moment. The man she loves was a lucky man, whoever he were.
"Good night you two!" Gwen went away while both of her friends nodded to her.
"So? Are you ready?" Merlin had a big smile on his face.
"Always!" She wore her cloak and they parted to the caves under the castle.
King's chambers were quiet and empty without her presence. Each small part of his chambers remembered Uther something about his dear ward... And, with the good memories, came the regret for the argument they had in the morning. The day had started perfect. Why has he done that?
He couldn't stay alone there. So Uther made the only thing he could: he kicked his silly proud, then he took all his courage, his love and his regret and started walking to Morgana's chambers. Yes, he knew it wasn't usual for him, the king of Camelot, but what else could he do? He would apologise and say he loves her more than anything, more than himself.
Would she listen to him? Well, he didn't know. Maybe yes, maybe no. But anyway, Uther believed sometimes a man must to do what he thought it would be the right thing. And at this time, the right thing was talking to Morgana and doing anything to make her lover understand, once and for all, that he couldn't have a happy life (or even a dignified life) without her. Would she finally get it? He was hope so.
As Uther arrived at Morgana's chambers, he sighed and knocked. No response. He knocked again. He couldn't hear any response, any noise... nothing. He put his ear near of the door, trying to hear something... but it was so silent.
"Morgana, please!" He started to implore. Poor little Uther! "Open the door, my dear, we need to talk." Silence. No signs of her voice. No movements. Only silence. "Please, Morgana! I want to apologise, I shouldn't have talked like that to you. I'll make anything you want, but please, open the door, let me at least look at you. Please, let me hear your voice, so I can sleep in peace." Nothing. Oh, why was she being so cruel? "Morgana, my dear, I need you!" Uther said with so much love that it would melt anyone's heart. Well almost anyone's...
"Father?"
Poor Uther! But... can you imagine the wave of panic on his face when he heard this? Heheheh
It became longer than I've intended, so the dragon missed (ideas never stop coming!). I'm sorry... but we surely are going to have him next chapter!
Oh, please, let me a review... Come on, don't be shy! You can't imagine how much reviews warm my heart up! =)
