Hello readers,
I know some of you are getting irritated with how harsh his accent is, but that's just how I write. I love to put detail into my story and make it real, instead of just describing his accent. I want you guys to think that you are living in the story rather than just reading it. I love all of you, and I want you guys to enjoy this. Oh, and Rose, don't worry. The accent has to be taken away a bit as the story progresses. You will be able to understand him soon.
P. S. This chapter is just a short one.
Chapter Five
Theodore
I wrap the towel around my waist and walk out of the bathroom. This whole shit with dad isn't going down well. He's been against these assholes before and they almost made me lose him. I can't lose my dad. Not to some piece of shit mafia.
Throwing on some boxers and sweatpants, I get in bed. Maybe if I go to sleep I can wake up and this will be a dream. Fuck, I sound like some little bitch who isn't getting her way. I understand that dad has a duty to this country, hell he even puts me before his country, but I just don't want him hurt like last time. Last time was the worst I've seen him and I don't want to see it again.
I hear my phone ping on my night stand and when I pick it up I see I have several missed calls and texts from Ashley. One text from Phoebs.
Answer your phone baby.
-Ashley
Where are you?
-Ashley
Why are you ignoring me!?
-Ashley
Are you cheating on me?!
-Ashley
Fine, don't talk to me!
-Ashley
I groan. This girl is killing me. All she ever thinks is that I'm cheating on her when I don't answer her. I was sleeping for crying out loud! I open Phoebs text.
Hey asshole! I made it home. Hope you and your dad are okay.
-Best friend til the end
I chuckle. I send a quick text to Ashley then call Phoebs. She answers on the first ring.
"Yello?" she answers.
"I hate that color."
"Oh shut up." she laughs. "Are you okay? I figured you'd be in bed when I left." she asks concerned.
"I can't tell you why, but dad's going to be gone for awhile." I sigh.
"Shit Teddy, I'm sorry. Where are you going to be staying?" she asks.
"Most likely my grandparents or uncle El's place. I'll ask tomorrow."
"So I guess the whole plan isn't going to work out then." she grumbles. I grin. "It's not meant for them to be together anyways Teddy."
"What, why?" I ask, shocked. "You were all on board for this." the line is silent for what feels like forever. "Phoebe? You still there?"
"My mom isn't the best person for your dad Teddy. I shouldn't even be hanging out with you but you're my best friend."
"But why?" I ask. "Can you at least tell me that?"
"I wish I could." I hear sorrow in her voice.
"It's okay Phoebs, you're still my best friend. Stop thinking like this, okay?"
"Okay." she whispers. "Get some rest okay?"
"You too. Night Phoebs."
"Night Teddy." I end the call. Damn, what was all of that about?
My mind drifts back to early this day, when Phoebe and I were forming a plan to get our parents together.
Dropping our bags, I guide Phoebe to our gym. When we get there she grins. We have a nice setup because dad needs to stay in shape due to his night shifts at the base and even during the day at the station taking down multiple arrest. Uncle Elliot usually comes over to train as well with the rest of the guys when needed.
"This place is badass, and I thought ours was awesome." I raise an eyebrow.
"You have one as well?" she puts her hands on her hips.
"What, just cause we're women we can't have a gym?" I smirk.
"Didn't say that." she glares at me.
"I could easily kick your ass Teddy." I narrow my eyes.
"Bullshit." she crosses her arms.
"Bet."
After several rounds in the ring, Phoebe has taken me down three. I have blood pouring down my nose and so does she. She also is sporting a bruise on the left side of her face, and I have one on the same area. This girl is strong and her mom must have put her in some damn classes or some shit. All I know is that I'm close to tapping out because the pain is getting to me and I can tell the same for Phoebe the way she flinches.
"No more Phoebs. Both our asses are hurting." I jump over the ropes as she nods. I hold the ropes open for her so she can squeeze through.
After we cleaned up, we both walk to the kitchen. I run back to Uncle El's truck and grab dad's piece of cake I had hidden under the seat. I bring it in the house and put it in the microwave. Phoebe laughs. A moment later dad calls.
As I'm talking to him Phoebe grabs the phone, bragging how she kicked my ass in the ring. Lying bitch. It was a tie! I push her on her ass and grab the phone back, and finish talking to dad before glaring at her. She just smiles innocently at me. I flip her off. I watch as she sends a quick text before putting her phone up.
"Can I ask you something?" I ask her, pulling out two bottles of water from the fridge. I hand her one. She nods.
"Go for it." she takes a sip.
"What do you think about our parents being together?" she lets out a long dramatic sigh.
"Well, I was kind of hoping, well, we could be together." I freeze. The fuck? She suddenly busts out in laughter. "Oh my God! You should have seen your face!" I let out a breath.
"You're such a bitch." she snorts.
"That was the funniest shit I've ever seen in my life. And I've seen some funny shit." she points her bottle at me.
"Yeah, yeah. What do you think though?" I ask. She raises her eyebrows.
"I saw the two of them constantly looking at each other at dinner. I also wouldn't mind having your ass as a stepbrother either." she smirks. "So let's do this. How do we start the plan though?"
All throughout the day me and Phoebe came up with multiple plans and scenarios on how to bring our parents together. My dad was 34 and hasn't had anyone special in his life since my mom so I thought Phoebe's mom would be perfect. Not just because she was my best friend, but because the way he looked at her mom. He hasn't looked at anybody like that since my mother, and I wanted to help him since he helped save me from her. The only thing is, he always pushes people away. The only people he doesn't push away is me.
I guess the plan won't work now since Phoebe isn't in on it. It's fine though. Dad won't be here for awhile and I understand where she's coming from. Some families just aren't the best to be around. Just like mine used to not be.
