muie5: Let me introduces my new kitten. -looks around- Where is my new kitten?

Kurama: I am pretty sure Kuwabara has her.

muie5: OH NO! -runs out-

I do not own YYH or Inuyasha, just Shine.

Chapter 7: Secrets and Enemies

I walked down a hallway that I did not recognize, but that did not matter. I was so livid at Inuyasha that I just needed to continue to walk or else it would overtake me. The situation just kept playing over and over in my head.

"I can't believe him! I was just trying to make him feel at ease. All he did was ask me tons of inappropriate questions, and say such awful things about Sesshomaru."

"Shine," Sesshomaru kind of called down a hall.

"Sister Shine! Sister Shine!" called Rin, more enthusiastic.

I caught sight of a golden door up ahead. When I got to the door, I opened it and walked right in. My brazenness while staying here has grown exponentially. The door lead to some stairs which brought me to a cold, dark room. When I got to the bottom, what I saw made me fall to my knees.

Sesshomaru came upon the golden door wide open. He motioned for Rin to stay up in the hall as he walked down the stairs.

"Shine?" Sesshomaru whispered into the darkness.

I did not answer his call. When he got to the bottom of the staircase, he saw me collapsed onto the floor. He lowered his head, unhappy with me finding this room. I just sat there on my knees, staring at the wall in front of me. Sesshomaru placed both his hands on both of my shoulders to get my attention.

"Why?" I whispered.

Sesshomaru did not answer my question. It was evident to me that he was not going to answer it either. So after a moment of silence, Sesshomaru helped me to my feet.

"This is not a good place to stay, Shine. Let us go," he finally said.

When we reached the hallway, there was a loud noise from outside.

"Inuyasha, don't!" yelled Kagome.

"Kurama!" Hiei groaned.

"Rose whip!"

We both ran outside in time to see Inuyasha with Tetsusaiga unsheathed and in attack position. They were fighting a person in a white baboon pelt. I thought it looked like funny sight, but no one else seemed to find it amusing.

"Naraku," Inuyasha and Sesshomaru said in unison.

"Lord Sesshomaru, what a pleasure meeting you again," Naraku said in his normal sly voice from underneath the baboon pelt.

Inuyasha charged at Naraku with his Tetsusaiga. Naraku easily dodged the attack, and just as easily cut Inuyasha with his own katana.

"Shine, grab Rin and get out of here," Sesshomaru ordered, grabbing hold of his Tokijin's hilt.

"But…"

"Not this time. If you stay here you are in more danger than you could ever realize. Now grab Rin and go," Sesshomaru ordered, unsheathing Tokijin.

"Understood," I agreed, grabbing a hold of Rin's hand.

We ran into the forest. Naraku watched as we disappeared into the shadows of the trees. Sesshomaru made sure we were safely away from the fight before he got involved.

"Smart girl. Running into the forest instead of the castle. Sadly, she will not get away from I, Naraku," Naraku thought with a smirk.

Sesshomaru and Inuyasha both charged at Naraku with their swords. Naraku dodged Inuyasha's attempt at attacking him, but got scathed by Sesshomaru's. Purple gas gushed out of the wound on his right shoulder. Everybody but Sesshomaru and Hiei covered their mouths.

"Miasma," Inuyasha stated to himself.

Hearing this, Hiei covered his mouth with his right hand. Sesshomaru charged at Naraku again, but this time Naraku was ready to dodge.

"You're not affected by my miasma?" Naraku asked rhetorically.

"I use poison as well. I would not be affected by such weak miasma as this," Sesshomaru boasted.

Sesshomaru cut Naraku's leg, leaving a pretty deep gash, causing Naraku to disappear. The miasma let up enough for everyone to see after he was gone.

"Too bad the two human girls will not live long enough to see your departure to the other world," Naraku's voice rang out.

Naraku's laugh faded into nothingness as Sesshomaru made his way into the forest. Kurama and Hiei followed his lead without skipping a beat.

"Sister Shine, where are we going?" Rin questioned, trying to keep up with me.

"I'm not exactly sure. We just have to get as far away from here as possible. Just keep running," I ordered, moving a branch out of the way.

We ran a little further into the forest before I caught a glimpse of a white baboon pelt in my peripheral. I suddenly stopped, causing Rin to accidentally run into me.

"What is…" I placed my hand over Rin's mouth to keep her quiet.

"Come out!" I ordered, looking around a bit surprised that I have gotten so brave.

"What a sharp girl," came a dark voice from amidst the trees.

"Don't play with me!" I snarled.

Naraku jumped out of a tree right in front of us. I pushed Rin behind my legs so if worse came to worse, I could protect her easier. Naraku just grinned at us as if nothing we did would make a difference in the end.

"Sesshomaru is coming for the both of you. But of course he will be too late."

"Rin, go straight to Sesshomaru. Tell him I'll be okay."

Rin ran off the way we came from to do as she was instructed. I did not really know how to fight at all, so I just stood there waiting for Naraku to do something. It appeared he would not attack first.

"So you will risk your life for a child you have just meet? How amusing," Naraku snickered.

That statement really ticked me off so I took out a sword that was covered up by my kimono. Yet, the fact that I had it did not mean that I knew anything on how to use it. I placed the sword in front of me and held it in both hands.

"You don't expect to win against me, do you?" he asked in a more or less teasing tone.

"Well, let's see if any of that short training session helped."

~~~~~The Night Before~~~~
Around midnight, there was a knock on the door to my room. Reluctantly, I sat up in my bed and rubbed my eyes. All I felt like doing was to lay back down, and just ignore the knocking. The only thing bad about that idea was that it would not be wise to ignore anyone in the castle.
"Come in," I answered rather sleepily.
In walked Sesshomaru. That would have completely surprised me, if I was not still about eighty percent asleep.
"Yes?" I asked, leaning against the wall at the head of the bed.
"Come with me," Sesshomaru requested from the doorway.
I got to my feet with the blanket wrapped around myself, since I was still in my undergarments, "Give me a second to get dressed," I yawned.
Sesshomaru did not move. I twilled my hand to signal him to turn around. In response, he turned around and left the room. A few minutes later, I came walking out of the room, dressed in a pink kimono with black pants underneath.
I followed Sesshomaru down a few hallways, into the entrance hall, and out into the front courtyard. We continued are midnight walk through the forest, until we got to a clearing a little far off from the castle. The trees that surrounded this little clearing looked to have been hit repeatedly by some sort of bladed object. The grass near each of the trees were burned to patches of dead yellow.
"I have something for you," Sesshomaru explained, being the first thing he said to me since my room.
"What is it?" I wondered, looking to him, now fully wake do to the long walk in the nippy weather of early morning.
He unsheathed a beautiful sword. It bared a red gem on the top of the hilt, a shape gleaming blade, a golden hilt, and a black dragon surrounded by red on the sheath.
"It's…It's gorgeous, Sesshomaru," I gasped, completely taken back by the beauty of it.
Sesshomaru handed the sword over to me. I did not even hesitate to take the sword. As I took it, the tip of the sword hit the ground. It did not occur to me that a real sword would be heavy. But I immediately lifted it back up.
"This is yours. Hopefully this sword can protect you when I am not around to do so myself."
"I have no idea how to even use a sword. It is obvious I never even held one before."
"I will teach you."
~~~~~Present Time~~~~~

Naraku took out his own katana. He easily blocked my attack without even really having to move. I attacked once more but he easily blocked once again. Before I knew what was happening, Naraku and I were in a sword-to-sword combat.

"You are pretty good with that sword for a human," Naraku lied, blocking an attack.

"You're not going to distract me," I replied, blocking on of his as it sent me skidding back.

I finally got an open, so I took it. I hit Naraku's sword at the bottom of the blade and flipped it out of his hands. It went flying and landed several feet away from where we fought. When his sword flipped out of his hand, I instantly went for his neck.

"You have some skill with a sword. Who taught you?"

"No one. I just happened to pick it up as I went."

"That would explain why I could easily do this," Naraku stated, flipping my sword out of my hands and into his, "The smart thing to do is to surrender."

"Well then I mustn't be too smart. I would rather die than surrender to such a creep! I'll make sure of that."

Sesshomaru stopped as soon as he caught sight of Naraku and me. Everyone else that was following him, did as well.

"Lord Sesshomaru…" Rin got interrupted.

"Be still," Sesshomaru ordered. "Let us see how well Shine can defend herself when her life is endanger," He thought to himself.

"Let's see if you can even wield my sword, Naraku," I smirked.

Naraku took a step forward, but the sword did not move along with him. I just stood there smirking at how well that worked.

"What kind of sorcery is this?" he barked.

"My sword will not harm me. Thanks to Sesshomaru, that is. He got a spell put on it to make sure it wouldn't be used against me in battle," I explained in a snippy, know-it-all tone.

Naraku held my sword in both hands with a grin. As he gripped the sword and started to pull it forward, I could tell that is was reaching the breaking point. Within seconds, he broke my sword in half and threw it to the side.

"MY SWORD! That was the sword Sesshomaru gave me, you jerk! It was meant to be my guardian angel. You'll pay for breaking it. I will never let you get away with what you have done," I warned as every inch of my body erupted in anger.

"What hope does a weaponless human have against me?

I ran right at him, and without thinking, punched him square in the face. I did not stop running until I reached my sword which was thrown behind him.

"Man! He really did a number on my sword," I said to myself, kneeling down next to my sword.

"What an annoyance," Naraku stated, picking me up by my collar.

"Let me go!"

"Let's go," he ordered, taking to the sky with me on a purple cloud.

Everyone ran out from the shadows of the trees.

"Ah-Uh!" Sesshomaru called.

Ah-Uh landed in front of Kurama, Hiei, Sesshomaru, and Rin. Without any reluctance, Sesshomaru mounted Ah-Uh and took to the sky.

"Rin, you should go back to the castle," Kurama instructed as he and Hiei took off after Sesshomaru.

"Let me go," I demanded for the umpteenth time.

"Shut up or I will kill you," Naraku ordered, firmly.

We flew in silence till an old mansion came into sight. As we flew over the courtyard, Naraku started to descend until we landed on the ground.

"What are you doing? Leave me alone! I never did anything to you!" I screamed, trying to get away from Naraku's grip. "Well, I mean, I did start the fight…and I did try to kill you. Plus, I did punch you in the face, too."

"Shine, we are on are way. Just do as you are told for now," rang Hiei's voice through my head.

"Get in there," Naraku ordered, shoving me into the mansion.
