Roommate Wanted
SAKURA'S POV
My 15th birthday is in a month. I'm honestly so excited. It saddens me that I won't have any family to celebrate it with though. My parents died in battle long ago, and I was an only child. All I have left now are friends.
I lay in bed, silently staring out the bay window. A warm breeze brushes my face gently, locks of hair tickling my ears. The silence emitting from my apartment was welcoming and feared at the same time. I miss having someone else around constantly. When I was younger, my parents were always entertaining me, and Ino was over very often seeing as we lived next to each other.
'We need a roomie.'
'That's actually a good idea, Inner.'
I sit up in bed, the comforter spilling around my waist and card a hand through my hair. After stretching, I undress myself and head to the washroom to shower.
One of the pros to living by myself is that I don't have to share the bathroom or worry someone will walk in on me changing.
But if Kakashi walked in on me, I definitely wouldn't mind. Oh wait, that has happened!
I blush heavily at the memory.
Locking the door to my house, I leave to go find Naruto. It wasn't difficult to find him. He was already sitting at the bar at Ichiraku's Ramen.
"Ohayo Naruto-kun." Naruto mummbles a greeting back through ramen noodles.
"So, I was wondering.. Are you looking for a roommate at all?" Naruto chokes on his favorite meal.
"N-nani?" He flushes red. "Are you asking me to move in?" I smile sheepishly.
"Yeah." He slurps down the rest of the bowl and roughly places it back down.
"Sorry Sakura-chan. The teme and I just got a place together and- don't give me that look."
"Why would you and Sasuke get a place together?" I wiggle my eyebrows suggestively.
"It's easier on money if we moved in together. Well for me it is. Sasuke is basically rich." He pouts. "I would have asked you if I knew you were looking!" I roll my eye's.
"Okay lover-boy." I push myself of the stool.
"Why don't you ask Kakashi?" He asks, knowingly.
"W-what!? No. No!" My face goes beet red.
"Why not?"
"He's our Sensei? That's against the... the rules!" I stammer. He rolls his eye's half-heartedly. I stomp out of the stand and follow the roads of Konoha.
It was mid-afternoon already so there were swarms of villagers and ninja's browsing the vendors. Walking past a supermarket, I could see people packed inside through the windows. It was a busy day. After pushing my way through the crowds, I end up in a wide field of grass. There is a strong looking Cherry Blossom tree in the middle of it all. I head to the tree and sit in its shade. Leaning against the thick bark, I relax.
All I need to do is find a roommate. That's all today, well, besides doing a little shopping. I sigh.
I hear footsteps approaching. The crunch of grass growing louder the closer they got.
"Fancy seeing you here." I groan in realization at the man sitting beside me.
"Sensei."
"Hi Sakura-chan." I look at him.
"What do you want?" He mockingly raises a hand to his heart, as if in pain.
"Gee Sakura, you sound so delighted to see me."
I actually am but I'm pretending I'm not because I really like you and you're fucking frustrating and-
"A little birdie told me you were looking for a roommate." The air thickens suddenly and it feels like I'm drowning. I smile nervously despite how I'm feeling.
"Haha, what?" I choke out, my voice cracking.
"Yeah, that's what Naruto said. And Sasuke. Even Ino."
How the hell did she find out?
"Any takers?" I shake my head.
"No, not yet."
"That's fortunate." I give him a dirty look. He smiles.
"Excuse me Kakashi?" The visible part of his face reddens. Moments later he sighs.
"Let me be straight with you," He pinches the bridge of his nose. My heart starts to race. "I'd love to move in with you just because I know how lonely it is being by yourself in an empty house."
Never in a million years did I think my Sensei and I would be having this conversation.
"The offer is still available." I say shyly. "There's two bedrooms and one washroom. A decent sized kitchen and living room." I smile, a blush stained on my cheeks.
KAKASHI'S POV
She's not bothered by this? Any other teenaged girl would be freaking out, yelling 'rape' and calling me a pervert.
"You're okay with living with your Sensei?" She nods shyly.
"Then we have a deal."
"But what about Lady Tsunade?" I grin.
"Just trust me Sakura-chan." I ruffle her hair affectionately and kiss her forehead. I feel her thin arms wrap around my neck, keeping me in place. The embrace lasts for only a few more minutes before she lets go. I look down at her, Sakura's cheeks on fire.
"So, you don't mind me having a crush on you while you live at my house?"
"Our house," I correct her. "And no, I don't. I feel like you'll start to resent me after a week of living together. So no more crush." I finish confidently. A sad look flashes across her face momentarily.
"Whatever you say Sensei."
"Kakashi, I don't know.." The hokage trails off.
"Tsunade, you must understand. Sakura is very lonely and may possibly be depressed! She needs a parental figure in her life."
"Why not just a friend? Like Sasuke or Naruto?"
"She's already gone to everyone she's close to." A.k.a; Naruto and I.
She sighs roughly, head falling into the palms of her hands. Moments later, she pulls out a scroll from one of the drawers in her desk and begins writing. Finally, after what seemed like hours, she stops, puts her pen down and hands me the scroll.
"Fine." I read her handwritten consent over and over until it's ingrained in my mind.
"Thank you Tsunade-sama. I know Sakura will be very pleased." I bow and leave.
SAKURA'S POV
A loud knocking sounded throughout the house. I get up off the couch and head over to the door, unlocking it. I open it to see Kakashi with a scroll tucked under his arm.
"Oh, hey." I eye the scroll. He pulls it out wordlessly and unrolls it, revealing a handwritten form of consent to live in this house.
"How?"
"Se~cer~et." He rests a finger gently against my lips and winks.
I let him inside, welcoming him into his new home.
That's the end of this chapter, phew. Thank you to everyone who read and reviewed last chapter, means a lot!
