Hey! So I posted this chapter really fast, so don't get angry with me. I'm hoping to upload the next chapter this quickly again!
Lovi had started crying while trying to punch her boyfriend, screaming things Gilbert didn't really understand, but got words like "asshole" and "cheating", and after that she ran away. Antonio didn't know rather to go after her or explain himself to Gilbert, making him look really confused.
"Okay now you will have to talk" Gilbert said, facing his friend.
"Oh it's... it's nothing, really..."
"Well, if it were really nothing you wouldn't have a face like you killed someone so split it out"
"Ok, it's just…" He said, looking to his sides, a hand running through his hair. "He can be so cynical sometimes, it scared me a bit. And… I don't know Gil, this is too strange. I mean, as far as I know him, he would find you annoying and not like you."
"That's bullshit Toni, everyone likes me!"
"I know Gil, but… It just looks like he has a personality he tries to hide from everyone, probably to make his dad proud of him. He always thought he wasn't good enough. But what I'm trying to say is, I just think this is too weird of him"
"Man, just because he's like that with you, doesn't mean he's like that to me!" He said, though knowing what his friend had said was true. Well, part true, since Roderich wasn't acting weird towards him at all. That must only be his natural way. "Maybe you should go after your girlfriend now"
"Yeah." He said, and went toward the door. Lovi must be somewhere in the gardens. He stopped for a second, looking back. "I just don't want you to get hurt, Gil" And he left.
Ludwig was looking at his from the corner of his eye. He wanted to say something to his brother, but didn't know what. But it didn't matter, because when he finally decided to say something, the boy had already run somewhere he couldn't see.
Gilbert was fast on his way to meeting his… His what? Friend? Boyfriend? He didn't really know. But that didn't matter right now.
He was now next to Roderich. Roderich smiled on his way, and didn't stop when Gilbert put an arm around his waist. They heard the band starting to play Strauss, and the albino found it the perfect time to show just what he had learned.
"Hey, wanna show what an awesome teacher you are?" He said, close to his ear.
Roderich looked at him and pulled away from his embrace. He had a mocking look and a smirk on his face, and it quite creeped Gilbert out a little.
"What, dace with you? In front of other people?" He leaned closer "I don't think so, love"
Gilbert looked astonished. He didn't really know what to think at the time, only that Toni was completely right. Goddammit.
He still couldn't manage any words, which Roderich was apparently waiting for. With the absence of those, he started to speak himself.
"You know, I was feeling down before. There was nothing to do in this house. And then you came. You were so deeply irritating and really got on my nerves, but I was so lonely, Gil… I needed to play a little. You understand, right?" He said, going away from the boy.
Gilbert saw him leaving, meeting the Elizabeta girl. He took her by the arm and they went to the garden, not looking back.
Roderich was very satisfied with his performance. The look on Gilbert's face was something irreplaceable, and it made him feel so good. That broken, confused look. Now he wasn't going to be all that sure of himself, his unbreakable spirit should be torn apart by now. What was most rewarding was knowing that he did that all by himself, he could make people miserable if he wanted to. He could make them do what he wanted, as he planned.
The girl by his side had always followed him. He knew she wanted him, but he couldn't say the same. He surely liked her, but as a friend and nothing more. But to complete his vengeance he should pretend he did, what wasn't that much of an effort, really. They passed through a group of adults talking, and he recognized his father. He looked at his way, made a head greeting to his soon and looked back away. But even after he had destroyed the boy who his dad would not have hesitated to trade him for, there was still something missing.
What was different?
Nothing. Nothing was different at all. After everything he had done, after beating his rival, nothing had changed. And he realized now that it would always be like this. What difference would beating everyone in this world make to his father? None, because he would simply not be good enough anyway. What he wanted form his parent was something that he could not achieve.
And that only made his rage grow bigger.
He took Elizabeta's arm and guided her through the gardens.
