Chapter 7
Albright's POV
At first I found it odd that Rayne would address Godric first. Of course, I would never question her on the matter. It is just that she always addresses me first, then Niall.
Wait! Did she just call him her mate?
Now it suddenly makes sense. That would also explain her emotions earlier. I wonder how long they have been feeling the mating pull.
Eric will be lucky to keep his unlife. Goddesses have been known to kill for someone just looking at their mate. They are even more possessive before the relationship is consummated.
Rayne kisses Godric's neck before he rises. That is a sign of acceptance of the mate, but it also signifies her as the dominant in the relationship. Curious, I wonder if he accepted it. Once he has risen, he takes his place behind her and to her right. Rayne then tells me to rise, so I take my place behind her and to her left.
Now, we are all looking down at the kneeling Viking. You can see the resignation in his eyes, he expects his death, and Rayne is well within her rights as a Princess and as a Goddess to sentence him to death. Plus there is that pesky business of 'It' being in his territory, trying to procure a royal, whether Eric knew it or not.
When Rayne gives her sentence, it is perfect. Honestly, if it had been longer than a week, it probably would have caused problems. It wouldn't surprise me if he hosts an orgy after his sentence is up.
Godric's POV
I can't believe she was able to talk to me through her telepathy. That is a very handy tool. When I looked up into her eyes, they were still shining, but now they were a shining deep green.
The glow on her skin had subsided, but her markings were still visible. It appears that she also has one on her left hand, the Celtic Triple Goddess symbol and tribal bands around her ankles.
She puts her hand on my cheek and I instantly lean into her touch. Her skin feels amazing. She tells me to rise, but before I do, I turn my face into her palm and kiss it. I feel a shiver run through her body, and can't help the small smirk on my face. Before I could even think, she leans down and kisses my neck, acceptance of me as her mate. I know what these actions symbolize, and I am completely fine with them. She will be the dominant in the relationship. Rayne can dominate me any night.
I rise and stand behind her, on her right side. That is the rightful spot of a mate. I hope she is ok with that. I realize she is an empath when she sends me reassurance. I quite like that, I wonder if she will be willing to Blood Bond.
I notice she addresses Albright as 'Far'. Could it be? Of course, rumor has it that The Angel of Death is of the House of Wicca bloodline. Although, there is also a rumor that The Angel of Death is of the royal Faes. Either would explain why Nan addressed her as 'Your Majesty' earlier.
When she gets to Eric's punishment, I must admit that I am nervous. But, I know that I cannot go against her. It would be an issue of The Council if I went against the ruling of another monarch or royal. And it would be disrespectful to go against my mate, not that I would have. He might be my child, but she is my mate.
I cannot tell you the relief I felt when she said he would not meet the true death. But when she sentenced him, I had a hard time controlling my laughter. I had completely shut down my side of the bond, so Eric couldn't feel it.
