Chapter 6: Green with Envy

Harry figited nervously as the other students of the Care of Magical Creatures class filed into the clearing. Although the class was made up of both Slytherin and Griffindor, Draco did not have this class together. Poor Harry was physically shaking with uneasiness. He wasn't used to the seperation from his mate. A hand on his shoulder made the cat jump and let out a startled yip. When he spun around, his eyes widened in recognision. "You...what are you doing here!" The boy in slytherin robes smiled. He was a few inches taller than Harry. His black curly hair was punk style with a large green streak on the front of his bangs. His eyes glittered with joy at seeing the small neko who quickly launched himself into the boy's out stretched tan arms. "What do you mean what am I doing here? I'm here for school just like you.I transfered here after I moved to London in the late spring. I just got in early this morning, so this is my first day." Harry smiled, overjoyed at his new company. "I didn't even know you were a wizard Nate!" Nate's lips curled into a smirk as he shrugged his shoulders. "You never asked."

Early in the summer, Harry was almost completely gone. He was slowly giving up. He almost didn't make it, until he met a dark haired and sassy teen by the name of Nathaniel Alexander. The boy worked as a clerk at the small store where Harry did his shopping for the families meals. It was another one of his many chores. It started out as nothing much. Nate was a very perceptive teen. He noticed Harry's scrawny form, and the bruises that were poorly covered. At first, Nate just slipped Harry an extra bag of chips or a roll of bandages. It wasn't much, but Harry greatly appreciated it. It was after his inheritence that Harry ended up getting really close to Nate. Nate could sense the change in the boy. Submissive nekos are naturally drawn to each other for means of protection and support. Harry may not have known that Nate was one at the time, but he did feel the strong urge that enveloped him and demanded that he stay close to the other. Visiting the store quickly became Harry's favorite chore. It was nice to have someone to vent to. The Dursley's, however, noticed the cats new attitude and, two weeks before school started, banned Harry from doing the shopping. It had depressed the neko to no end. This was the first time that they had seen each other since then.

Harr nuzzled the others chest lightly in affection, but stopped suddenly and pulled away to look at the other boy closely. He was startled to see two black cat ears with green tips twitching on the larger boys head. "You're a neko too!" Nate chuckled lightly and ruffled Harry's head. "Why do you think I was so crazy about keeping you safe over the summer? Neko's stick together, especially submissives. It's like an unspoken code or something." Harry nodded and smiled at Nate. He always new there was something special about this boy.

Somebody clearing their throat snapped the two nekos out of their little bubble. Hagrid stood in front of them with an amused smile on his bearded face. "Everyone is getting into groups of two to study the thestals at the edge of the clearing. Why don't you twopair up and join them?" Harry flushed and nodded while Nate dragged him over to the edge of the clearing. Nate looked around, sniffed, and then huffed in aggitation. "I can smell something but I don't see them." Harry looked around, but unlike Nate he saw the large skeleton horses with wings that were trotting around. "You can't see them because you have never witnessed death before. They are here. Lemme show you." Harry pulled Nate over to a small kare and brought his hand up and placed it on her hack. Nate nearly jumped out of his skin when he felt his hand make purchase on an invisible surface. "Woah...that's...not wierd at all." Harry laughed at his friends shock and continued to show and tell him more about the odd creatures until the teacher dismissed the class for lunch.

Draco figited nervously at the Slytherin table. He was switching between looking a the door and tapping his fingers against the desk. Lunch had started 2 minutes ago and he had yet to see hide nor tail of his mate. Pansy patted his back in a comforting manor. "Chill out Draco. He will be here. Right now all you need to worry about is calming down so you don't go on a rampage." Draco nodded and tried to relax. His head snapped towards the enterance as a familiar laugh resonated into the large room. His joyful face grew sour at what he saw. A black haired boy dared to wrap his arm around HIS mate! As thee two approached the table, Harry slipped out from under the other raven's arm and ran into the open arms of his blonde mate. The other members eyed the new member shifting awkwardly by the table while the two mates caught up in their affection. Hermione tapped Harry's shoulder from across the table. The neko peeked up from his mate's arms to see what she wanted. "Hey Harry,"she thumbed tiwards the larger raven," Who's the punk?" Nate probably should have been offended by her use of the term, but he mearly smiled. She had a point. He had three silver loops in each ear, skinny jeans, black leather bracelets, and if his hair hadn't naturally had the green streaks he was so fond of, he would hve dyed his hair too. He was the definition of a punk, and to be honest, he kind of liked it.

Harry looked up at him and smiled. "How rude of me. I'm sorry buddy. Everyone, this is my friend Nate. We met over the summer." Nate waved and smiled nicely. Harry patted the seat beside himself and Nate eagerly took a seat and began to to eat like the others. Draco's grip tightened a bit as he looked the newcomer over with a critical eye. Harry was oblivious to this as he ate his small bit of lunch before sitting back against Draco's chest. The blonde pulled a vial out of his bag and handed it, uncorked, to the neko by his side. The small cat quickly tossed it back and made a disgusted face at the awful taste. "That's terrible. Is it too much to ask for a little grape flavor?" Nate bust out laughing with the rest of the tabld who knew about muggle medicine and wrapped an arm around Harry in his myrth. The joyfulness of the table was snapped by the loud snarl that ripped itself from Draco's chest as the now red-eyed veela yanked his mate away from Nate, and hid him away in his own arms. Nate immediately threw his hands up in surrender. "Woah man, calm down. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to overstep my boundaries here." Harry, who had been struggling in his mate's arms, finally managed to break free. He moved between the blonde and the other neko. "Draco that's enough!" Draco was going to argue back, but the neko stopped him short. "No, I don't want to hear it. You do this to all of my friends. Nate is a submissive, so there is no reason for you to get jealous. And for us to be doing anything, I would have to be a part of it which means that for you to do this, you must have no trust in me! You're just so...uh!" Harry turned on his heels and ran out of the Great Hall, tears clearly visible running down his cheeks. Draco tried to run after him, but once again Pansy held him back. "Don't Dray. He needs to calm down first. Nate could you please-" "Got it," he cut her off and ran out after the other neko. Draco sat back down and clutched his head in his hands and sighed loudly. "Why do I always do this? What's wrong with me Pansy?" Pansy rubbed the poor blonde's back. He was in near tears. Never before had she seen him look so broken. "Look at me Dray." Nothing. Pansy snatched his head up and forced the veela to look her in the eye. "It is not your fault. You are the most loyal person I know, and I know you don't mean to hurt him. It's your instincts. Everything will work out. That bond between you two is already so strong. There is no way something as stupid as a bit of a hissy fit can break it." Draco noddecd solemly and laid his head in his crossed arms on the table. "I hope your right Pansy, I really do."

Back in the halls, Nate was closing in on the scent of the other neko. When he turned the corner he found the small neko curled up in one of the many alcoves within the large school. He walked over and knelt down to the small raven. Harry sensed that someone was in front of him and opened his eyes. He launched himself into Nate's arms once he saw who it was. Nate just sat quietly, rubbing Harry's back soothingly as the boy cried softly. "Why does he do this? Doesn't he know that it hurts to think he has no trust in me?" Nate pulled harry away to look directly into his eyes. "Harry, you listen here and listen good. He doesn't do it on purpose. His instincts are what make him do those things. He cant control them anymore than you can control your jumpy reactions to loud noises. I can promise you that he feels really bad about it. I can see it in his eyes. It kills him everytime he sees you upset. The kid is really trying. Do me a favor and just ease up on him. He really does love you with all of his heart." Harry wiped away the new tears that were forming in his emerald green eyes and nodded. Nate stood up and held out a hand to pull Harry up from the floor. Harry allowed himself to be lifted and dragged back towards the Great Hall. At the door, Nate stopped and urged Harry on. Harry ran towards his brooding mate.

Pansy tapped Draco's shoulder frantically. Draco looked up and was met with the sight of his mate sprinting towards him once again in tears. Draco sat up and barely had time to open his arms as the small raven dropped into his arms and wove his arms around his neck tightly. "I..I'm s..so sorry Dray. I didn't mean it. I love you. Please forgive me! I'm sorry." Draco patted the poor, trembling cat in his lap, trying to calm the sobbing boy. "Hey, shh shh shh. Calm down kitten. Theree is no reason for you to be sorry. If anything, I should be apologizing." Harry shook his head. "No, you did what your instincts told you to do. I shouldn't have overreacted so badly." Draco smiled and pulled the small boys head up to look him in the eyes. He brushed a stray tear from the neko's face. "I forgive you kitten. How could I not. I love you too much to lose you over something so petty." The blonde leaned in and pressed his lips against the neko's in a chaste yet passionate kiss. The two pulled away moments later, faces flushed and eyes shining. Someone clearing their throat made the two snap out of their love induced trance and face the source of the disturbance. Pansy stood infront of the two, smiling in mild amusement. "If you two love birds are done, I would like to yet to class on time. Sure enough, the two looked around only to be met with an empty Great Hall. Harry jumped up and practically dragged his mate up from the table. As the group exited the doors, Nate held Draco back. "Hey Harry, mind if I steal him for a moment? I promise I'll give him right back." Although a bit confused, Harry nodded and walked off with Hermione and Ron. Draco turned to the odd neko and raised an eyebrow. Nate handed the veela a vial with a silvery strand floating within it. His brow furrowed further in confusion. Nate smiled at his reaction. "It's my memory from a few minutes ago. Cosider it a sign of good faith. I really care about Harry, and I want to keep him in my life. That will hopefully show you that I am on your side here." Draco wad to say the least stunned by the act. He must be really dedicated. Draco patted the neko on the back and smiled at the cat. "Thank you, and for the record, I would like nothing more than for you to join our little group. It's an honor to have someone care for my mate almost as much as I do. Now come on, Harry is probably frantic worrying about what I am doing to you. The two chuckled lightly and walked down the hallway towards the light of both of their lives.

a/n- Yay I'm done! Thanks to mo person for Nathaniel and I hope I write him right. You know the drill. Read and review so I get enough motivation to get off my lazy butt and type.
