Link's Prov
I was barging in at rooms like a maniac, invading some Smasher's privacy. Some even threw stuff at me to get out, others even brought out their weapons to challenge me. But none of that mattered to me. I have to find him and if it means to get smacked in the face by a hair brush then it's worth it. I haven't been able to think straight or even take a sip of coffee. I might as well slowly be losing my sanity as well. My heart is pounding like crazy as I took in a shaky breath.
Okay calm down, Link. You've got this. He has to be around the mansion somewhere. I mean it's not like he got kidnapped or something...wait a minute what if he did?! He's always so clumsy and never pays attention and even forgets to carry his weapons sometimes. He also asleeping around and what if—oh Din please let him be alright.
I accidentally opened my enemy's door without thinking twice. Ganondorf sat on his chair reading a book that says, '10 ways to kill a hero'. That sounds like a lovely book. Wonder if it's a top seller or something. When he saw me he closed his book and gave me one of his ugly looks.
"What are you doing in my room, elf?" He growled, expecting a fight.
He knew very well that I hate being called that but there are more important things right now.
"Have you seen Toon Link?" I asked even though it was quite obvious he wouldn't care.
A cold smile crept on his lips. "Nope, I haven't seen that brat anywhere. Now get out!"
I gritted my teeth and closed the door. Guess I should check the stoatge room next even though I already did earlier. I was on my way, running through the corridor when someone behind me yelled 'WATCH OUT!'.
I found myself being dragged all the way through the corridor with someone pushing against my back. I knew it was Pit since he kept on screaming all the way, losing complete control of his own wings. We dashed through the hallway and everything seemed blurry. Some Smashers managed to get out of our way.
My teeth were clenched tight, and because of the incredible speed tears were forming out of my eyes. "Pit, you have to stop!" I yelled, my feet weren't on the ground anymore and I was flying in mid-air by an angel.
"I can't!" He yelled panicky. Up ahead was a dead end and we were heading straight for it. I tried to plant my boots on the carpet floor to make a stops but we were going too fast and instead of stopping my feet were running. All the air was knocked out of me as I met the wall face first. Pit who was still on my back finally got off me with little damage.
"Oh, I am so so sorry, Link!" He apologized as he helped me up and hand a tissue for my bloody nose.
I stood up, my leg was stinging with pain and my face felt numb, but I completely ignored all that. "Did you find him?"
He shook his head in disappointment. "No, I flew all over the roof and didn't find him."
With everything that's been happening it took me a while to register his words. "Pit, why on earth would he be on the roof?" I asked him slowly, my eyes narrowed at him. I am beyond in the mood for jokes or any stupidity at this point.
My angelic friend frowned. "I found him sleeping there a couple of days ago. I tried to take him back but he said if I touch him I'll regretted it."
I blinked dumbstruck. What in Din's name has Toon been up to? Sleeping on the roof? Is there any of other place he might've slept? Like in the middle of the road maybe? Oh Goddesses, what if he's asleep on the road and there's a truck...
I didn't want to shout at Pit since he's a close friend of mine and he's helping me find Toon but all the frustration that's been bottled up just burst. "He slept on the roof three stories high and you never bothered to tell me this?! He could've broken his neck for all I know!"
A surprise look slammed on his face but it was quickly replaced with anger. "Don't get mad at me! I didn't think you wanted to know!" He shot back.
"He was on the roof for crying out loud! Of course I'd want to know!"
"Next time I'll remember, sheesh! You don't need to act like a jerk!"
A new voice joined in. "Shut up the both of you! You sound like dogs."
We turned around to see that it was Tetra, her hands on her hips and glaring at us. I haven't seen her a while. Actually I haven't seen her since we started the search now doesn't that sound suspicious?
"And where have you been?" I asked as she walked past me.
She turned to me. "Well, I went to a place called none of your business. Ever heard of it!" She snapped.
I took a deep shaky breath trying not to get mad over her words, to try to brush them off like its nothing. Tetra is the kind of person that likes to get under your skin especially if you're stressed out. She hasn't been able to irritate me in the past since I've always been patient with her but now her attitude is starting to get to me.
"What are you two barking about anyways?" She demanded.
"That's none of your business," I replied dryly.
The little pirate shook her head at me. "You aren't the only one worried about Toon, you know."
"I know—"
"Then stop acting like a jerk."
She's right. I know that. Everyone is looking for Toon, everyone's worried to death about him and here I am taking out my frustration at Pit. I turned to my friend looking very shameful. "I'm sorry for yelling at you," I apologized and I really meant it.
He nodded putting a hand on my shoulder. "We will find him," he assured me.
I managed a slight nod but I felt so hollow inside. Toon's out there somewhere maybe hurt and here I am arguing. Just what am I doing?
My thoughts were cut off when Zelda walked towards us, her arm around a crying Peach's shoulder.
"Poor little Toonie! Where is he?" Peach cried, blowing her nose on a tissue.
Captain falcon walked in. "We have a problem."
I shook my head. "It will have to wait. Right now we need to find Toon."
"This is about Toon," he told me in a very serious tone, crossing his arms and sighed.
We all stared at him. "What do you mean?" Zelda asked in a worried tone.
Falcon sighed. "I went over to Mario to get him to tell me about Toon Link's issues. The only thing that plumber said is that the kid's been having trouble with himself, couldn't sleep, couldn't eat."
I felt my heart sink. "What else?" I asked even though I wanted to stop talking and go outside to yell his name hoping he'll come out maybe even start printing out some posters with his face on it.
He gave me a hard expression. "He told the kid to stop coming because he's over reacting…that's all I got."
Tetra snorted then glared at me. "I guess after he got turned down by you he went over to Mario and even he didn't help! Honestly, what is wrong with you?!"
I didn't know what to say as I asked the same question to myself.
Peach gasped and more tears streamed down her delicate face. "Poor Toonie. We have to find him so we can help him."
Falcon groaned, running his fingers through his hair. "We've already looked everywhere in this mansion! Heck, we might as well contact the police while we're at it! Just where is that kid hiding?!"
Pit hung his head down. "I don't know where to look," he muttered.
"We can't let that discourage us," Zelda replied calmly nodding at my direction. Just being with her gave me more courage "We'll look again and ask everyone if they've seen him. If it comes down to it we'll inform Master Hand then contact the police."
I felt a spark of hope and I could see so did everyone else. She has a way of doing that, letting everyone calm down and think straight.
Pit nodded with determination. "Yeah, let's split up and look again."
This time it was Tetra's turned to talk, "I know where he is," she said in a small voice.
At first I thought I didn't hear her right but then saw everyone else's shocked face and wide opened mouth. I didn't know what to say. My mouth went dry and my heart was beating faster. I've been giving myself heart attacks, barging into people's rooms, imagining all the worst accidents that could happen to him and here she's telling me she know where he was all this time...
I don't want to yell I honestly truly don't. Not like what I just did with Pit but this is too much. "Why didn't you say anything then?!" I'm pretty sure everyone on the same floor can here me. "What if something happened to him, Tetra?! Then what?! You could've just told us from the beginning! We could've helped him, we could've—"
Captain Falcon restrained me from coming in any closer. "Whoa, Link, man, calm down!"
His muscular arm blocked my way to that little cheeky pirate but I paid no attention to him as I kept on yelling. "Is this a game to you?! Some kind of prank?! You think this is funny?!"
"Link, knock it off!" Pit interjected, joining Falcon in holding me back.
The only person I gave my complete attention to was Tetra, who had her arms crossed and her face turned away.
"Stop this! Stop it, Link!" Peach cried out, sobbing even harder than before.
My face was red, I was trying to move forwards her but I couldn't take one step closer, I felt exhausted and tired from all this and I know it's all my fault. This isn't me, I don't yell at my friends, I don't act crazy yet here I am practically screaming at a little girl. I wanted to stop this but there was too much anger in me to just let it go. "What's the matter?! You have nothing to say?! If anything happens to him, Tetra—"
"Or what?" She finally said, turning to face me, her eyes darkened but her voice strangely kept calm. "You're gonna treat me the same way you treated him?"
I felt the saliva on my mouth evaporate." What? No—"
"You're gonna force me to tell the truth like you did to him at breakfast?"
"No!"
"Then what are you gonna do then? Huh? Big boy?"
Zelda stepped in between us looking furious. "That's enough!" She turned to me. "Link, you need to calm yourself right now!" Then to Tetra: "And you! Why haven't you said anything about Toon Link? Can't you see that we're worried sick about him?"
Tetra sighed. "He said he wanted to be alone," she replied simply.
Seeing her this calm despite the circumstance only fueled my anger. I took in a shaky breath, giving her a hard glare. "Where is he?" I asked her slowly with a warning tone.
She crossed her hands and didn't say anything.
"Tetra, you heard Captain Falcon! Toonie needs help so we have to find him before something bad happens! Please!" Peach pleaded.
Pit nodded, his grip is tightening around my arm. "Just tell us where he is."
Again she didn't say anything and that's when I began to understand. By telling us it would seem like she's betraying him. After everything thats happened she didn't want Toon to go against her like he did with all of us. He trusts her and she's not about to slap it in his face the same way I did.
My shoulders slumped as all the anger melted away. Pit and Falcon sensed this and finally released me but with some caution in their eyes. I looked over at Tetra and I could see that even though she had this tough girl imagine going she had that fearful look in her eyes.
"I'm really sorry," I apologized sincerely then looked around at my friends. "I'm sorry everyone for the the way I'm acting. I know this is all my fault and I want to make things better so please—" I turned to Tetra hoping she could see the desperation in my eyes "—please just tell me where he is."
She looked at all of us and for a second I thought she would refuse. Slowly, she sighed in defeat. "He's in his room."
Captain Falcon shook his head. "If he's in his room we would have seen him."
"He's there," she promised turning her eyes away from the rest of us.
I felt a wave of relief wash over my chest, it was so overwhelming that it made my knees buckle. "I'll go," I told them immediately as I turned around.
"Link," Tetra said in a small voice.
I thought she was going to argue but she surprised me by saying: "If I were you I'd pick my words carefully."
I looked at her confused. "What do you mean?"
"Just go before I change my mind," she snapped her expression changing almost too quick.
Very well, I thought as I climbed up the upstairs.
