Chapter 7: Hold You Close

Regular POV…

Dipper headed back to the Shack.

(A/N: Holy shit, I made a rhyme.)

Apparently, Stan had died of a liver problem via heavy drinking.

"So, he drank himself to death?" Dipper remembered asking.

"Basically, yes. Though we're not sure if it was intentional or if he was under the influence of a stronger kind of alcohol. We need to run more tests and gather more evidence." the lady replied.

"Okay, thank you… I'll, uh, let you know if I find any clues, 'kay?" Dipper said as he turned to leave.

And while he had intended to check out the Shack for clues to this mystery, his main focus was to get back to Mabel. Ah, Mabel… his sickly little sister. Just thinking about her made his heart pound and his stomach got butterflies in it.

"Wow… I MUST be in love with her…" Dipper muttered.

Truth be told, Dipper had come to terms with his feelings a short while ago. And while he had a hard time accepting the fact that he was practically on his way to committing a taboo, his strong desire to make Mabel his was greater. So, wearing a determined grin, he set out for the Shack once more!

Meanwhile…

Getting information, well the right information, out of Mabel was harder than anticipated. Even though she was sick and loopy, Mandy still couldn't get her to spill about her real, true feelings towards Dipper. Call it cliche if you will, but mother's know pretty much everything that goes on with their kids…

(A/N: I have enough experiences with my mom to know that… *shudders*)

Although she did manage to get one crucial piece of information out of her. It was something about "spilling on the day". She didn't quite know what that meant, but she would find out soon enough…

When Dipper got back, he noticed his mom looking at him in a way that made him feel uncomfortable. She wasn't mad or upset, but still, it was quite unnerving… Nevertheless, he remembered what he was gonna say.

"Oh, I see… Well, thank you, Dipper." Mandy replied after he told her the info.

"No problem, mom." her brunette son replied.

The two stood there for a long time, not saying a word.

'Damn… we're stuck for conversation…' Dipper thought, sucking air in through his teeth.

Almost 3 minutes had passed before Mandy decided to clear her throat and break the silence.

"Well, Mabel is doing fine. Her fever went down a little but she's still pretty sick." she said, looking up at the stairs.

Dipper laughed nervously. "Well, I guess that's our fault for running out when it was gonna rain."

Then he mumbled an apology.

"Oh, it's alright," Mandy assured him.

Even though she was disgusted with both her children for being this intimate with each other, she still loved and cared for them a lot. And she had intended to set them straight about this whole thing. But not yet… With Mabel being sick and Dipper being wracked with grief, it wasn't the best option to act now… Even if waiting meant that more incest would happen.

Incest…

Just the very mention of the word sent chills down Mandy's spine and made her stomach churn. It was such a disgusting thing. Truly, horribly revolting! And if anything, she was gonna make sure it never ever happened…

Not ever again…

Later…

Dipper had gone upstairs to his and Mabel's room to check on her. When he got there, she was awake and reading a... book? No, a magazine. It was the same one she had been reading for weeks on end, now… It was so weird, that such a silly book full of pictures, ads, and models could make her happy.

"Hey, Dipper…" Mabel greeted in a hoarse voice.

She clearly was not fully over her sickness. Just hearing her like that made Dipper feel bad for his twin.

"Hey, Mabel. How, uh, how're ya feeling?" he inquired.

"Eh, a little better I guess. The only real thing bothering me right now is my throat. But other than that, I'd say I'm coming along just fine." she answered.

To prove her point, she ran her fingers up and down her throat, causing her eyes to screw themselves shut and tremble. She was clearly in a truckload of pain. Which only made Dipper even more upset. So, he decided he wanted to help his sister. He walked over to her bedside and stared down at her.

"Yes?" Mabel asked, a little worried.

Dipper said nothing and proceeded to step two.

And when he did, Mabel's face reddened, because the older twin had just lifted up her blankets and slid underneath them…

Mabel's heart raced like crazy! Just why was her brother snuggling under her covers?!

"Uh, D-Dipper?! Why are you doing that?!" she stammered and stuttered.

"Just shut up and cuddle with me, Mabes… You need rest and so do I…" he replied in a sleepy tone.

Mabel was dumbfounded. Her brother was being so… nonchalant about this! He was giving such a simple reply that it was almost nerve wracking. And even though Mabel did as instructed, she still couldn't help but feel awkward and embarrassed about this particular situation. While she loved her brother very romantically, she still couldn't shake the sense of unease that towered over her.

Still, this was an opportunity for the twins to become more intimate with each other… As weird and twisted as that sounds, Mabel decided to seize the opportunity and cuddle her brother!

"Mmm…" they both sighed out as they melted into an embrace.

Sleep soon overtook them and both twins drifted off to dreamland…

Done! Hey, hey, hey, I'm back!

Shadow: So am I!

Here's a new chapter for you all. Honestly, I have no clue why this story is so popular? Can someone please tell me? Seriously, I need to know!
