Chapter 7: The Bride
I would like to thank Alexriolover95 for suggesting this idea, I want to clarify that this idea isn't just from Alex, it's from the book series Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (classic series if you love horror).
Today was the happiest day of a Scarlet Macaw and Spix Macaw.
They went by the names Alex and Lily.
They had been lovers for almost two years and today they were to become a happily married couple.
Soon enough they were standing together giving their vows and finally sharing their first kiss as husband and wife.
They then began to talk to their friends and family.
The first ones they talked with was the Gunderson's, Blu, the father of the family had been Alex's best friend for most of their lives, they were practically brothers, Jewel had been another close family friend, many times Jewel and Lily had spent whole days together, they called it their "girls night".
The Gunderson's had three children, Carla, Bia and Tiago, in fact, Carla and Bia were the flower girls for the marriage.
"Congrats Alex." Blu smiled.
"Thanks, Blu." Alex smiled, the two then shared a hug.
Alex and Blu had practically brothers for most of their lives.
"Congratulations, Lily." Jewel smiled, she hugged her best friend tightly.
"You looked so beautiful, Lily." Carla smiled.
"Aw, thanks, Carla." Lily smiled.
"Well, I thought it was gross." Tiago butted in.
"Shut up bird brain." Bia said annoyed.
"Stop calling me that, nerd." Tiago replied.
Lily giggled at their sibling rivalry before Blu broke them up with a simple "come on guys".
As the day went on the couple began to get quite board, that's when Lily had a fun idea.
She lend next to Alex and whispered in his ear.
"Hey, I've got an idea, how about I slip away and go hide and you try to find me." Lily whispered.
Alex knew it was rude for them to go away and play while birds were all wanting to speak with them but he was just as board as her.
"Okay, I'll count to one hundred and I'll look for you." Alex smiled.
"Okay, good luck." Lily smiled kissing Alex's cheek before sneaking away and going into another room.
Alex played it off as if she had went into the bathroom, he counted and once he reached one hundred he slipped away into the room as well.
He turned around and began to look for her.
"Lily, you in here." Alex asked, of course no response (obviously).
He continued to search through the room, he looked in a broom closet, behind a large shelf, she wasn't there.
He looked through other rooms and as time went on he still hadn't found Lily, he began to get slightly nervous, his nervousness soon turned to fear for her safety.
He searched the entire church and still couldn't find her, where had she gone?
He then recruited the whole church to help search for her.
Shortly afterwords the police were called.
The search went on for days, not only the church but the entire town was searched but they never found her.
Some suspected that Lily ran out of the church and met up with some unknown lover who then left town.
Others believed that she was kidnapped, some even hypothesized that Alex had murdered her, him being the last bird to see her before her disappearance, it wasn't an impossible theory.
But as the weeks moved on with no body to recover her search was called off and her family and friends, most importantly, Alex were crushed but as time went on they began to move on.
Three years later…
The cleaning lady sighed as she saw the cluttered and dusty attic.
She was certainly going to have her work cut out for her.
She walked to the center of the room and began, she dusted, vacuumed and moved around many of the old boxes, furniture and paintings.
She was actually amazed by all of the old furniture up there that hadn't been touched in years, why would someone let all of it just sit up there and rot away to dust.
She began to move a few boxes away to different areas.
She saw one large box which was, as well covered in dust, she tried to push the box to the end of the room but it was too heavy.
She knew she was going to make it lighter.
She reached out her wing and unlatched the boxes lock, she slowly opened it.
She let out a frustrated sigh she saw all of the things inside, books were stacked to the top of the box.
She began to take them out and put them in a series of stacks.
She then returned to the cleaning and eventually she finished, she began moving the chest back and as she moved them she found one which she hadn't opened yet, she walked over to it to remove some of the things inside.
She opened it and screamed in shock, she fell back and began to hyperventilate.
Inside was the rotting corpse of a female Spix Macaw, she wore a white wedding dress.
On the day Lily disappeared she ran into the attic to find a place to hide, she found a large chest and tried to hide inside of it, as she stepped in and crouched down the lid of the chest fell and struck her on the top of the head knocking her unconscious, the lid then slammed shut only being able to be opened from the outside.
As the cleaning lady stood and she ran down the stairs screaming for help she never noticed the claw marks from Lily's talons on the bottom of the lid, indicating she had been alive for sometime.
And done. I would once again like to thank Alexriolover95 for suggesting this idea.
