Woah, I didn't realize that it had already been such a long time without any update. So here's something to read! :D
Chapter 6: No Happy Ending
I found myself at the beach of Hargeon and watched the waves crashing into the shore. It was calming and yet so disconcerting. Just like those waves, I felt like I had to crash and claim new lands while an invisible force kept dragging me back home. I couldn't go home, though. Everything I knew had to be left behind to ensure everyone's safety. Resting my head on my legs, I took note of crystalline tears rushing out of my tired eyes. It never stopped; it never will. I will always keep crying. My Fairy Tail life ended, no happy ending for me.
A few years back, before I supposedly died, I had spent a day with Natsu at this very beach. It was similarly warm out and the sun shone just as bright. Nevertheless, with the salmon haired boy around, everything seemed brighter, warmer and friendlier. We tried to build a sand castle that resembled our guild building. But Natsu, as clumsy as he is, kept drying the sand with his warmth and had it crumble. We gave it up soon and decided to swim a bit. It was very romantic and I always loved our little trips as a 'couple'. We never labeled it, secretly, though, I always liked the idea that he was my boyfriend and he never cared to contradict. The pink tinting his cheeks whenever I brought something like that up was further evidence that he got a little nervous when thinking about it.
Reminiscing like some old lady, I actually smiled. It was too ironic that I was finally back and was denied to go home.
"Young miss. We're leaving soon. Come aboard if you still want to go" a sailor called out for me from the pier.
"Yes, I'm coming. Wait for me" I waved at him and started running up to where they were.
Before I arrived a warm hand grabbed ahold of me and pulled me into a tight hug. A gentle smell travelled through my nose and stirred up a feeling of nostalgia. The scent was sweet like roses, fresh with a hint of peppermint, and slightly spicy like cinnamon. "Natsu" I said without even taking a look. Enveloped inside his strong arms, I knew that he wouldn't let me go. "Is Levy going to make it?"
"She's still recovering, but she's alive. Don't change the topic" He said angrily and a gentle tear dropped on my shoulder. "Where did you plan on going? Will you leave us forever?"
"I have to. No one in Fairy Tail will be safe when I'm around…" I had disappointed him. At least I knew that Levy was alright. I couldn't live with myself if something had happened to her.
"Fairy Tail mages never give up. We'll find a way…" he said pulling me even closer. He started coughing and I knew what was slowly happening. The anima inside of me started to collect. Nevertheless, he kept strong and held me as tight as ever.
"Natsu…" I sighed trying to break out of his grasp. The pigheaded fire mage still fought against all of it and attempted to keep me as close as possible. "I have found a way…"
"Running away is not the right way. Come back with me. Mirajane and Elfman need to know you're alive and safe. Everyone in the guild will want you back. You have to come back. What's the reason for you to be in this world if it's not to be with us, with me?" He tried to convince me. Although Natsu was never too good with words, his speech pierced right through my heart. It hurt.
"I'm sorry…" were my last words to him. Our memories had to fade away to keep him safe. I had to let go. It was nice to know that he was there and I'm overly thankful that he cared so much. But there was only one way, whether one would refer to it as running away or whether it was doing what's right. It was goodbye either way. So goodbye, Natsu, goodbye, Fairy Tail.
Slowly, I felt enormous power inside of me and his caging hug was not as assertive anymore. I saw how his fingers turned blue. He shivered because I was gradually killing him. I had watched Levy do her craft several times when growing up. So I cast a word that spelled train and had Natsu board it. His face instantly turned a sick shade of blue and the magic took him away, took him to safety. I headed the other way and met up with the sailor.
On the ship to wherever, my eyes saw Hargeon for the last time, Fiore for the last time. So much for my happily ever after.
I hope you enjoyed the chapter. And they have names, now! :D
