WHAT AWAITS AT THE END

Fumi Grayheart

A/N: It pains me to see my story rotting on a far side corner of this site. TT_TT. Anyways, I hope you're still on with the story. Because…I think it has been a year or two since I last updated it. I'm really sorry /3

Warning: A series of POVs and Flashbacks. Next chapter will be updated within the week. I apologize for grammar errors. =D

Disclaimer: I do not own Kuroko no Basuke. It solely belongs to one Fujimaki Tadatoshi. Any other stories in parallel with this fanfic are of pure coincidence.

WHAT AWAITS AT THE END

CHAPTER 07

"Kise-san, here is your script. Remember not to feel nervous when delivering your lines 'kay?. Just act naturally." A tall, brown-hairedl tanned adult smiled, putting a folder at the table.

"Honestly, I feel a bit nervous as of this moment. This is my first time showing up on screen!" Kise blurted.

"Memorize your line well 'kay? Don't mess up your first TV commercial or else you'll die." His shirt spiky-haired manager said, placing a light poke on the model's head.

"Kasamatsu! Stop hitting my head please! I might forget my lines. Tch."

"You won't forget, idiot." Another poke, this time it's harder.

They both laughed, Kasamatsu blushes as he stares at the handsome blonde sitting in front of him.

"Ah, it feels good. I feel better now, thank you Kasamatsu-san."

Kise grabbed the manila folder and began scanning it, reading the script word by word.

Kasamatsu watched his model intently, heart beats fast than usual. He admits that he liked Kise Ryouta ever since he entered the modelling industry. His mother knows it that's why she made him Kise's manager. And now that he is always with the blonde, his liking turned into an insane love—insane because albeit he knows that Kise has someone else in his heart, he still pushes through his feelings though his object of affection would never notice and would never return it as well.

#####################

KISE

It seemed that I was in dream land. Tons of modelling load, big companies asking me to endorse their products, overwhelming billboards hanging on the busy streets of Tokyo and all over the country, not to mention the squealing crowds when they hear my name—for me there is nothing more to ask for. In one year I made a big name on my country and next will be the neighbouring nations. That is Kise Ryouta after graduating in Teikou Middle School.

That is Kise Ryouta of Kaijou Private High School.

And in just one fateful day, for just one specific person; I, Kise Ryouta, is willing to give up everything, is willing to go down from the clouds of success and stardom to say the three letter words to the only one I love most.

I hope he feels and still feels the same way too… up till now.

#####################

"Oi Kuroko, you're not going home?" a tall red head asked.

"Not yet Kagami-kun, I'll wait for Kise-kun to arrive."

"Kise? That model? You know him?" two eyebrow furrowed reversely.

"Everyone knows him Kagami-kun." the teal head deadpanned.

"I know that! What I mean is, are you friends with him?"

"Yes. Since middle school."

"I see, then good bye for now. Maybe I'll meet him next time."

Kuroko nodded in reply and waved to the tall red head before him.

He stared at the fleeing figure for a while before he rested his back against the entrance gate wall.

After three hours of waiting, no Kise Ryouta showed up. Kuroko tried calling him but his line was out.

"He must be very busy." Kuroko thought.

First semester ends and still there's no blonde model appeared. And since giving up never counts in his own vocabulary, he still waited for his calls and for his arrival. And he only stopped one rainy day sometime in the middle of second semester.

Kuroko waits patiently at his usual waiting spot. The sky is dark and cloudy; a heavy rain is about to fall. Blank teal eyes stare up at the lonely sky. Just like the sky, his eyes feel heavy and are about to well up when a crimson-coloured umbrella appear before him. He tilted his face downward to take a look on the owner of the said umbrella and was surprised to see a stranger.

"Excuse me?" Kuroko asked in a polite tone.

"Aren't you tired of waiting here every day?" a cold, strong voice replied.

"I do. I'm tired already. But the person I'm waiting for promised me he'll come for me, and I promised him I'll wait here as well." He paused; tears began to well up at the corner of his eyes. "What if that person shows up the moment I'm away? He would think I broke my promise." He ended his statement with a slight quiver in his voice and before he knew it, his tears fell continuously.

He sobbed, his tears won't stop. He sobbed in front of someone he doesn't know, in front of a complete stranger.

#####################

KUROKO

I had waited for him for almost a year, but he never showed up. I always see him at the magazine stands, at the billboard hanged on a city mall and on a TV commercial of a famous clothing brand. But I never get to see him personally. "He must be very busy." I always thought. But he never called me, he never answered my calls, he never showed up.

Maybe he had forgotten me. He is now at the peak of his expectations, eyes are now into him. What could a person with a little presence do to someone highly appreciated by the crowd? But nevertheless, I will still wait for the day he will come to see me, even if he no longer likes me.

"It's cold here, let's go somewhere to warm you up." The stranger suggests.

"I didn't mean to bother you mister, but I think I'm okay from here." He tried to walk away from the unfamiliar teenager but was stopped by a grip on his wrist.

"You are not okay, Kuroko." His sharp voice rang.

"Y-you know me?" teal eyes stared widely at the stranger's mismatched eyes.

[ Teikou Flashback ]

Akashi heads to a table in a secluded area of the library which he calls his sanctuary. Just as he places down the books he borrowed, an unfamiliar student with a powdered ocean blue hair pulled the chair across him.

He clears his throat so the latter would notice, but he was totally ignored.

"Excuse me?" finally the red head stated.

The aforementioned student looked up and crash his blank eyes to the strict pair of heterochromians.

"Excuse me?" he replied.

"I'm afraid you are sitting on the wrong table."

The light blue haired student looked around the table, turned his head upside down and again looked around the table.

"What are you doing?" Akashi asked, his composure loosens.

"I'm looking for a signage that says this is the wrong table." The teal head replied nonchalantly.

Akashi Seijuurou could only laugh by the teal haired student's defiance and sarcasm. He sat down and observed the busy teal head.

"There wouldn't any problem if I let you stay here, would it?" he asks curtly.

"I'm a very quiet person so I think you can count me on that." He replies, eyes fixated to his novel.

"Okay. And you are?"

"Kuroko Tetsuya. How about you?"

"Akashi Seijuurou."

And with that Akashi began what he is about to do, to read a novel just like what Kuroko is doing.

That first meeting was an extraordinary for the red head emperor. Because that day marks his first heart beat to the stubborn, defiant and sweetly sarcastic invisible student of Teikou Middle School. But his happiness from his first love didn't last upon knowing about Kuroko and a model. It's not his first heart break though, because Akashi Seijuurou doesn't simply gives up. He would just wait should the blonde and his first love could make it to their forever.

AKASHI

From the day I saw you up till now, I would always desire to be with you. I'm not the type of person who begs but if it's you, you indeed are an exception. So just for once, listen carefully: Please, stay by my side, forever and always.

Oopsie. I made a very short Akashi POV. It's just that, I don't want to hurt him any further. HAHA. Yeah I really am a bias, I know I know. =D
