Disclaimer. I don't own Austin and Ally. If I did I wouldn't have Austin and Ally break up.

CH. 7! ALLY

I don't know how Austin and I made it back to the house. It took us over 30 minutes to get back. I was driving very slowly making sure I wouldn't hit anything through my drunk mind. Although I did almost ran us into a ditch but Austin took over the steering wheel and turned for us. That's a miracle to because he was drunk and he pulled us out of almost going into a ditch. Other than that incident, we made it home, no damage, nothing.
We walked in the house trying to be quiet as ever. Austin and I held onto eachother when we were walking up the stairs. We were still swaying with holding eachother. Austin and I crashed on his bed not caring about anything.
When I woke up the next morning the first thought to run through my mind was, I'm stupid. I hadn't had a drink in over alittle bit over a week. I was actually feeling I had a life without drinking.
The first of January in the morning passed by quickly. I was now sitting at my kitchen table talking on the phone with my mom after having my lunch.
"I've got a great surprise for you" she squealed.
"What is it" I asked with no emotions. I have learned from both my parents not to get my hopes up about good surprises. They somehow never end up turning to be a great surprise. They always end up turning into a disaster.
"We're going to a ski resort in Colorado! Your father and you are coming up tomorrow. It's free too" she yelled through the phone. She was so loud I had to hold the phone inches out of my ear.
"You and dad are going to be together. In the same place, at the same time?"
"Yes, I know, it's weird, but it's happening!"
"Dad's probably not going to come though. He probably has some kind of business thing he has to do."
"No he won't. I yelled at him that he can't do or take care of any work related business on the trip."
"How did you book us at the resort for free?"
"I know a person. They said they would like to meet you and your father. So they invited you two to the resort for free!"
"Really! Oh my gosh, I have to start packing! This is the first time since we've had a family vacation! I have to go! I'll call you tonight" I yelled really excited!
I called Austin telling him I won't be around until the second day before school starts. He was whining how he won't have anybody to hangout with. I told him he had Dez and Trish but he said I'm not the same as them. Which made me feel touched. I answered back to him to suck it up though.
"Mom" I yelled right when my dad and I got off the plane. I ran to her and hugged her.
"Ally" she squealed and hugged me back tight. "It's so good to see you!"
"Jen" my dad smiled once she let go of me.
My dad made a nickname for my mom when they first met. My mom was so nervous talking to my dad when they first met. When he asked her name she said Jen because she heard someone in the background yelling the name Jen. When my mom realized her mistake, she told him her actual name with her last name. He smiled back saying more the reason why I should call you Jen. Her last name is Jenkins.
"Lester, it's good to see you. How's business?"
"Good, how's managing?"
"I stopped managing. I'm back at writing."
"Oh."
"Yeah."
"So, let's go to the resort" I said changing the subject.
When we entered the resort's lobby it was wonderful. So many lights were hanging. I was awe struck by the master piece chandelier hanging above us. The lobby had multiple couches for people to sit and talk or just wait. Then off to the corner of the fire place by the window were two computers. They had a kids place where they could play and it was honestly one of the cutest place I have seen.
"This place is amazing Jen! I want to meet the person who owns this resort and tell them that!"
"You will tomorrow at lunch. He has agreed to have lunch with us" she said smiling. Now why would the owner want to eat with us. Did my mom tell him about me and that's how she got this place for free?
"This trip is going to be amazing! Just you, dad, and me. Finally a family vacation" I said smiling ignoring how my mom got this place for free.
"I have something to tell you" she said, then she looked up and smiled. "Actually two things I need to tell you."
"Ally" I heard a little girl behind me.
I turned around to see Cloudy and her family. I smiled brightly at her and then turned my head to face my mother and gave her a glare. I thought this trip was going to be just us three.
Cloudy was running to me and before I knew it, she was hugging me. Then I had a little boy hugging me on my leg.
"Hey Clouds, hey little sport!"
They let go of me so Ms. Beck could hug me. I noticed she was kind of slim. Her skin was a dull color. I saw circles around her eyes. I noticed she was thin at the party but I didn't noticed her skin color or her baggy eyes.
"Ms. Beck, are you alright" I asked her.
"No need for that question. I haven't seen my little Penny in ages! Get over here little Pen!"
Ms. Beck loves to joke around with my mom that she is the oldest. My mom was six months younger then Ms. Beck. She loves to point that out.
"Beck! It's so good to see you" my mom said smiling wider then ever.
"Lester it's good to see you too."
"It's good to see you too Susy."
Susy was my dads nickname for her. Let's just say my dad loves to make nicknames for everyone. He doesn't like to go by their actual name.
"When we get our rooms, I just want to lay down" Ms. Beck yawned.
"I'll check in" my mom sighed and walked up to the reception desk.
"Ally would you watch Elle and Eli" Ms. Beck said. She walked up to the desk where my mom was before I could answer her back.
"Honey I'll be right back. I need to use the restroom" my dad said smiling to me.
"Ally how was the party you went to? I didn't see you in the morning."
"Mrs. Moon said you were out with your mom and I left before you came back. I'm sorry Clouds. The party was a party. Lots of drinking" I told her.
"Were you Austin's driver going back home since he probably couldn't?"
"Yeah, I was his driver going back home."
"What do you feel like when you drink?"
"What" I choked replying back.
"It's okay Ally. I know you drink."
"How" I stuttered.
"First, your change isn't enough to not get people to notice you. I'm surprised you haven't been bombed with any pictures yet. Second, I know what you do. I listen to the radio. Your music is great by the way. You're talked about a lot on the radio though. Third, I looked at my mom's email. Your mom sends a lot of pictures to my mom."
"Well, well, well. How long have you known this?"
"When your first song came on YouTube. Your orginal song. I showed it to my mom because I was freaking out how amaizng you were and she muttered your name. I just kept quiet about it."
"Alright little miss know it all. I see how you know who I am. I'm surprised a ten year old back then didn't tell anybody about knowing me."
"I am trustworthy Ally."
"It's true" Eli said popping into our convosation during a commercial break watching t.v.
"I learn something new everyday" I said smiling.
"Guys, ready, we got our room key."
Our room was more like a suite. They had five bedrooms. One main hangout area and a kitchen. It was like a huge apartment.
Once everyone got settled we all separated. I went with Cloudy to go skiing. She really wanted to go skiing and nobody else was volunteering going with her. I didn't have anything to do. I had no one to talk to besides Cloudy because Ms. Beck was going to take a nap. My mom was out talking with someone. I don't know who though, my guess is the guy who let us stay here for free. My dad was in his room reading and Eli wanted to stay and watch his favoirte cartoons show. Plus she can't go out skiing by herself.
I noticed Cloudy's dad wasn't here on the trip. Was something going on between Ms. Beck and Mr. Ridge? Did he have a business meeting to attend? Then I remembered he's a banker. His job doesn't aquire him to have meetings all the time.
"So how's Tanner" I asked finally while walking to the ski lift.
"Good" she said smiling.
"When did you guys start dating?"
"Almost two months. The 12th will mark our two months" she said proudly.
"Where is your dad? I haven't seen him around since the party" I asked once we were finally sitting on the ski lift.
"He's not here, he's on a business trip. He's on a convention with other bankers."
"Oh" I said looking forward. "Race ya to the bottom" I said smiling to her.
"You're on!"
"Honey, what happened to you" my mom asked getting away from the computer when she heard us. I saw a blond figure behind the screen. The blond looked familiar, too familiar.
"This is what I get for trying new things" I said glaring at Cloudy still leaning on her and having one of my hand on top of my head.
"Hey, it's not my fault you wanted to race from the beginning" Cloudy put her hands up. That was a mistake on her though, while she lifted both her hands up, I went down screaming and landing on the grounding managing to twist my left foot some more.
"Cloudy" I glared at her some more.
"Oops" she said looking sorry and putting her hands to her mouth making her eyes widen.
Ms. Beck stopped talking to the person on the computer when she heard me scream. She ran over to me putting one of my arms over her shoulder while my other arm was around my mom's shoulder.
"Who just screamed" the blond asked while Ms. Beck was helping me up. The voice sounded way to familiar too.
"Ally did" Cloudy answered back going to the computer.
He chuckled back and answered, "of course she did." Yeah, this had to be the only person I was thinking of.
"Austin, now is not the time to laugh at her" Ms. Beck said glaring at the computer once she helped me to sit on the couch. My suspicion was right. Of course Austin would be the one laughing at my condition. "She hit her head twice I'm pretty sure, so we think she might have a minor concussion" Ms. Beck said going back to the computer standing behind where Cloudy was sitting.
"Oh, can you give her the computer so we can chat" he asked.
"Of course" Ms. Beck said smiling. "Come on Elle, Austin wants to talk to Ally."
Ms. Beck handed the computer to me. I was glaring at Austin the whole time while Cloudy, Ms. Beck, and my mom were going into their rooms.
"So, what happened? How did you hit your head twice" he asked calmly still trying to his back his chuckles.
"Race ya to the bottom" I said smiling to her.
"You're on!"
When it was our turn to get off the ski lift we both started racing. Cloudy was really good at skiing so I started to push myself more. That didn't help me though. Being the clumsy self I am, I got tangled with my other leg somehow and I started rolling down. While I was rolling I landed on my left foot the opposite direction my foot was suppose to go. Once I got to the bottom I just layed their thinking, how in the world did that just happen? It took a minute until Cloudy was trying to help me up. She was laughing really hard a few seconds after I landed at the bottom. It took her a good minute to finally calm down and try to help me up.
"Ally, how did that happen" she asked laughing.
"I was trying to beat you. Man you're good! How did you get to be that good at your age?"
"My mom taught me like three years ago when we started comming here" she answered back smiling. "Come on, lean on me. We're going back to the suite."
"I think I can try to beat you again. Lets go back and see" I said ignoring her idea.
"No, we're going back to the suite. You can barely stand on your own. You're actually leaning on me" she said pointing to my arm around hers.
"Fine, I'll prove to you I'm not hurt" I said letting go but falling down again not wanting to put pressure on my left foot.
She grinned at me in defeat. Cloudy helped me up again and took me out of the ski equipments. Once she was out of hers and took it back to the shed, we walked over to the suite.
"Ouch" I said hopping on my left foot while Coudy was leading me to the elevator once we got in the lobby. Along the way before we were going up to our floor, she was leading me to our suite, well I hit my head against the sliding doors before entering the lobby. "Ouch! Cloudy, you may be good at skiing but your leading skills aren't the greatest" I said putting my hand on top of my head while hopping and leaning on Cloudy some more.
"You may be good at talking to people but your not good with your landing" she said mimicking me.
We got in the elevator and I leaned against the railing to give Cloudy some rest against her shoulders. I may be small but I do weigh more then her. I got my card key out and handed it to Cloudy.
"And then my mom turned around from the computer because Cloudy tried to lead me to the couch but along the way she made me hit my head against the mirror. Then when she was trying to lead me to the couch, my left knee against the table. Which I don't know how because it was the opposite direction from the couch."
Austin couldn't handle it anymore. He was trying not to laugh but he couldn't help to let out a few.
"Austin!"
He held his hands in surrender. He was still chuckling at the story I just told him. "You hit your head four times Ally. How could I not laugh" he said while telling me that.
"Fine, let it all out."
He then busted up into a laughing fit for a good two minutes. Everytime he would look at me he started laughing again. Finally once he controlled his laughter we started talking normally again.
"Hey is something going on between Ms. Beck and Mr. Ridge? He's not on this trip and they weren't together at the party when I was there" I asked him once he stopped laughing.
"My family thinks he's ready to leave her."
"What! Why?"
"Something is just going on in their family, no need to worry. They'll patch things up together soon, I hope."
"If it's nothing to worry about then why did you say he's thinking about leaving her?"
"Ally, just let it go" he sighed.
"But Austin-"
"Ally, let it go" he said firmly. I've never seen Austin use that expression before.
"So, how's Miami" I asked changing the subject.
"It's boring without you! Dez and Trish fight constantly like they did before you got here."
"I swear, they are so going to end up together. So how come Cloudy and her family are here but you guys aren't?"
"We don't go to Colorado for vacation during Christmas break. Instead we go two weeks during the summer where you guys are at."
"Ah, so we won't be able to hangout during the summer for two weeks" I said whining.
"Suck it up. I have to suck it up right now, you're going to suck it up then."
I chuckled and then my mom came out. She told me we were going out for dinner.
"Austin, I have to go. I guess we're going out to eat."
"Have fun, make sure you don't run into anything along the way" he said joking with me.
"Hardy har-har. Very funny, goodbye Austin" with that I clicked the end call. I tried to get up but I couldn't. My left foot still hurt and my mom saw I was trying to get up.
"We'll go to the doctors first."
"Well, it doesn't look like anything is serious. You just have a sprang foot and a minor concussion, nothing to worry about. We do want you to stay up past 12 to make sure your concussion is fine though. We're just going to wrap your foot. You're going to use the crutches only for two days then come back here and we'll check it out again" the doctor said and smiled.
With that my mom and I left the doctors to go meet up with Ms. Beck, her kids, and my dad. I set my crutches down once we were all seated at a big round table.
"Hey where is Ms. Beck? I thought she was going to eat with us" I said wondering where she was.
"She stayed because she was tired" my dad explained.
"But she slept when Cloudy and I went skiing."
"She didn't take along nap" my mom said. "Now Ally, let it go" she said looking at me. Her face looked like she wanted me to drop the subject. So I sighed and turned to my menu.
It was eight once we got out of the restaurant. We were in the lobby of the suite and I saw someone familiar.
"Amy?"
"Ally" she smiled wide eyed then her smile faded. "What happened?"
"Never try to race a 12 year old that's expierence in skiing" I said looking at Cloudy.
She laughed and then hugged me. I introduced Amy to Cloudy, Eli, and my dad.
"So Ames, what are you doing here?"
"The girls and I are just having a vacation. I'm surprised they invited me concidering they don't usually invite me anywhere with them. Then again, it's my birthday this week so I guess it makes sense."
"Where are they" I said looking around.
"Robin is checking us in and her daughter is with her. Meg is flirting with some guy by the fire place."
I looked over at the reciption desk and sure enough I saw a women and a four year old. Then I looked over at the fire place and saw a honey blond girl twisting her already curls while talking to a guy.
"Where are your parents" my dad asked not knowing that Amy's parents died of a car crash two years ago.
"Dad, they aren't here" I glanced at him and have a look.
He looked confused but let it go. Then I heard a little girl yell my name.
"It's Aunt Mari" a scream came from the reciption desk. She ran over to me. I bent down to her level and hugged her.
"Hey kiddo! It's actually Ally" I said smiling at her.
"It's good to see you again. Amy told us what you decided to do for alittle bit" Robin said smiling. Then she glanced down at my crutches and she sighed. I could tell she didn't want to know what happened with me. I gave her a sheepish smile.
"I'm glad she did. I can't explain it to everyone" I said smiling and standing up to hug Robin. "Yo Meg, get over here and hug me" I yelled over to the fire place. There weren't a lot of people in the lobby so I didn't really disrupt what other people were doing.
"My little bitch" she said smiling and coming over to me. "Hey dipshit, what happened to you?"
Once she got where I was I pointed to the kids around us and glared at her. "Meg, I would like you to meet Elle and Eli and I got in a skiing accident."
"Oops my bad" she said laughing at her language.
"Hey mom, can I go out with them for awhile. I haven't seen them in awhile."
"You can tomorrow. You're having a family night" she said looking at me.
"It's fine, we'll see eachother tomorrow" Amy said laughing.
"Bye Auntie" the little burnette hair girl said quietly to me.
"Bye, I'll see you tomorrow" I said smiling. "Bye Robin. Meg you better improve your language around the little kids before I see you again."
Meg stuck out her tounge at me then hugged me again. "See you Ames" I said to Amy.
Let me tell you about the girls. Robin's 23 years old. She got knocked up by her boyfriend at 19 and had her daughter. Later on, Robin's boyfriend left her when her daughter was only three months old. He wrote a note saying, "I couldn't handle a kid" then left, what a jerk. Ever since Robin had her daughter she's been nothing but responsible. Amy always took care of the four year old whenever Robin had college classes. Robin didn't trust Meg to watch over her daughter because Meg was forgetful at important things. Robin was actually about done with college. She was planning on being a first grade teacher. Meg's the second oldest. She's an outgoing 21 year old and like I said, she's not trustworthy with important things. She has her moments though. Like my secret but she's not responsible with a human being. When Meg did watch over the four year old once, she left her at the wal-mart parking lot in the cart. Robin was so furious with Meg when she forgot her daughter. She and I are party buddies we would say. We would always go to bars and get drunk together. Amy is almost a year older then me. Her birthday is in January, two days from now would be her 18th birthday. She and I met at school when I first went to public school. Since I was new and she was in my homeroom she showed me around. Instantly we became bestfriends. She's been with me through the good and bad and vise versa. Amy is the talented one in their family. She's an actress and well known.
About two years ago their parents were driving home from a dinner party. They were driving through a nasty storm. The storm got heavy and they couldn't see out of their windshield. They didn't see there was a red light and a drunk driver was coming their way.
Cloudy, Eli, my mom, my dad, and I walked to the elevator once we all said goodbye. We got in our room and decided on watching a movie. Eli had to go to bed at 8:30 though so he couldn't stay and watch. Cloudy had to go to sleep at 9:30 but my mom made the acceptance of her staying up alittle bit later because the movie was almost over. My dad went in his room to read then just fall asleep causally.
It was just my mom and I. When I was about to get up and make something my mom spoke up.
"Honey, don't talk about Beck's health around the kids."
"Why, is something going on?"
"Just don't talk about it. Alright, I'm heading to my room. Make sure not to fall asleep and don't forget we're meeting with the owner of this place for lunch" then she left and went in her room.
I decided to call Austin and talk to him. It was a good thing that he was still online because if he wasn't I didn't know what else to do. I waited until he accepted my call.
His head popped up and he was smiling. "Hey clumsy."
"Hey to you too jerk."
"How was the dinner night out?"
"It was good. Although Ms. Beck wasn't with us" I said glumly. "But I met with some of my friends that are from California."
"That's good. What are they doing at the resort?"
"It's my best friend's birthday in two days."
"I'm hurt, I'm not your best friend?"
"I have more then one you dumby." I said smiling.
"So did you go to the doctors?"
"Yeah, I have a sprang foot and I'm in crutches for two days. I have a minor concussion that I have to stay up past 12 to make sure it's alright for me to go to sleep."
"Dang Alls, you have only been at the resort for almost a day and you're already banged up. Take it easy cripple."
"Shut up. So I'm meeting with the owner of this place tomorrow at lunch."
"Okay" he asked me confused.
"I don't even know why my mom wants my dad and I to meet with him though."
"I can't help you there Ally."
"Wow, good talk Austin."
"I try to help" he said grinning at me.
We talked over two and I could tell Austin was sleepy. It was nice of him for staying up with me but he needs to go to sleep. I'll just try to find something to do for alittle bit over an hour.
"Goodnight Austin" I smiled to him.
"Ally, you can't go to sleep. You still have alittle bit more then an hour until you can actually go to sleep."
"You're sleepy and I'm going to let you go to sleep."
"No, I'm making sure you don't go to sleep. I'm staying up past 12 with you."
We talked more then an hour. We both fell asleep on eachother. I woke up seeing Austin sleeping but resting on his hand which was on his cheek keeping him up. I yelled his name and I guess he had earphones on because he jumped up and I saw his earbuds.
"Hey sleepy head! Thanks for staying up with me last night by the way."
"Yeah, no problem. You probably would've done the same."
"Probably not, you wouldn't get into a ski accident."
"Yeah that's true" he said grinning.
"Hey I have to go. I'll call you or video call you maybe later today."
With that Austin and I ended our long hours video chat. I yawned and took a shower. When I got out I ate breakfast with my mom.
"Mom can you please tell me what's going on with Ms. Beck?"
"After lunch, which we will have at 12."
"So what's the owner's name?"
"Connor Scott."
I went down to the pool to watch Cloudy and Eli while they were swimming. I sat on the lawn chair with the computer checking for updates. Apparently it's rumored that I checked myself in for rehab of drinking and that's why no one has seen me. Well that's what my manager told the press. I need alittle chat with her.
"Demonica! Why am I apparently in rehab?"
"Hello dear. I told the press you were in rehab. You really need to though."
"I'm doing better."
"Well if you aren't in the press anymore then you should be able to come back two or three months from now. Are you going to school there?"
"Yes, right now the school is on break. School resumes on the 15th."
"Good, maybe you can finish junior year there. So how is Miami?"
"It's great to see people I haven't seen in along time. I'm in Colorado with them. We're at a ski resort. My dad and I are going to meet the owner of the resort very soon."
"Oh shut up."
"Exuse me" I asked confused.
"Not you dear" she said looking at me. "Mari I need to go take care more things about you."
"Make sure not to tell more lies and it's Ally." I said glaring at her.
"We'll see, bye Ally" she said emphasizing my name.
I ended our call and put the computer away. My mom came down to get us. Cloudy and Eli were both watching a movie when my family were heading out the door.
"Will Ms. Beck be able to watch them."
"Why would you say that? Of course she can watch her own children!"
"Well she has been sleeping a lot."
"Drop it Ally. Lets go" my mom said and walked out the door.
We were meeting the owner at a Country Club. My dad and I sat down while my mom was going to the bathroom.
"You must be the Dawson family" a guy came up.
He looked like a golfer kind of man. He had brownish whitish hair. He had one of those sweaters the golfers would wear.
"You must be Mr. Scott. The owner of the resort. You have a really nice place" my dad said standing up and shaking the guys hand.
"Please, call me Connor. You must be Lester. It's great to meet you. You must be the famous Ally your mother has been talking about."
"Nice to meet you sir" I said standing up and shaking his hand.
"Again, just call me Connor. Now where is your beautiful mother?"
"She's right here. Hey Connor, I see you met Lester and Ally."
"Pen, they are lovely."
"Shall we order" she said sitting down.
"So Mr. Scott, why did you let us stay at a resort that's expensive for free" I asked while my plate was being set down by the waitress.
"Ally" my mom warned me.
"Mom, I just want to know."
"Well you see Ally, I just wanted to meet you because-" but my mom interuptted him before he could finish his sentence.
I digged into my BLT sandwich and looked at my mom continuing her sentence. I was looking at my mom wondering why she interuptted Mr. Scott.
"Ally, Lester, I have something to tell you."
"Hey what was the thing you were going to tell me yesterday but you didn't" I said with my mouth full of food.
"Ally, I'm about to tell you so let me finish and don't talk with your mouth full of food! Well Connor and I are together and we're engaged."
I swallowed my food then I was drinking my water when she announced the engagement. When she told my dad and I, I faced Mr. Scott and spat out my water at him. He was sprayed by my water that was in my mouth and I didn't care. I looked at my mom and gaped at her. She never told me she was in a relationship. How long have they been together?
"Ally! Say you're sorry to Connor right now!"
"How could you have a boyfriend? This is why he payed for the vacation for free. He wanted me to like him. He wanted dad to like him!"
"Ally, please don't drag me into this" my dad pleaded.
"Why, all he ever wanted was us to like him. So for him to do that he thought a nice free vacation would do the trick."
"Don't talk about him when he's right here" my mom snapped at me.
"I thought this was going to be a family vacation. Just the three of us! I was fine when we saw Ms. Beck and her kids here because they are family but him" I said pointing at Mr. Scott. "He's not family!"
"Connor will be part of the family in five months. I'm including him in family things now."
"Then I quit being in the family. I'm getting emancipated from you."
"Don't threaten me with that."
I rolled my eyes at her and crutched away from the table. Good thing the Country Club wasn't far from the suite.
"Don't ignore me and walk away. You get back here right this instant young lady!"
I kepted on going and finally I got back to the main lobby. I was headed to the elevator but I spotted Amy talking on the phone by the fire place. I went towards her and sat down on the couch across from her.
"Yeah, I got to go. Yes I love you too, bye!"
Once she got off the phone she smiled at me. She put her phone in her bag.
"Was that Will" I said smiling at her.
She rolled her eyes and nodded her head. "So what brings you here?"
"My mom and I got in a huge fight and Demonica apparently told the press I put myself in rehab."
"Oh I'm sorry dear. I heard about that news anyway. How about we go up to my room and talk about it."
I nodded my head. We both got up to go to the elevator. Once we entered her room I sat down on the couch again.
"So where's Meg, Robin, and the little munchkin?"
"They are all shopping. I had a shoot 10 minutes ago. So what happened?"
I told her the story of what happened at lunch and the rehab story. We mostly focused on the lunch problem though. After I was done she whistled.
"Dang dude, threatening your mother for an emancipation. That's deep, no wonder why your mother was mad."
"Are you taking her side!"
"She's in love. Do you seriously want to take her love away and be selfish?"
"She's not in love. The first and only time she was in love was with my dad."
"Lets not think a out this for awhile. Lets go shopping. I really need new clothes."
That night I stayed with Amy. We caught up with eachother on what has happened between when I left and now. Apparently her boyfriend Will and her are getting serious. They moved in with eachother last week. It was about time. They have been dating for almost five years.
"Oh sorry, I have to take this" I said pointing at my phone.
I got up and walked out of the room. I went to Amy's bathroom and shut the door lightly. I flipped my phone open and pressed the call button.
"Yes Austin?"
"You had me worried sick!"
"Why? I told you I was going to call you maybe."
"Your mom told me you ran off. Ally don't get mad at her."
"Did she tell you everything?"
"No, she told me you were probably going to tell me. She just called me thinking you already told me what was happening. Your mom thought I would know where you were."
"Yeah, well I'm not telling. I'll see her tomorrow, maybe."
"Ally, what happened?"
"I rather not talk about it right now" I sighed.
"Okay, hey so how did the lunch thing go?"
"Horrible, that's where my mom and I got in the fight."
"Alls, just tell me what happened."
I sighed in defeat. I couldn't keep this away from him. He was my best friend and I needed him. After I told him the whole story he sighed.
"Emancipated! Ally, that's a huge thing!"
"It's my choice!"
"Just let your mom explain. She probably feels horrible about this. Your mom probably didnt want the lunch thing end like this. Go to your suite and talk it out."
"Austin, I'm staying with my friend from California and her family tonight. Her birthday is tomorrow so I'm going to spend most of the day with her tomorrow. I might go back to the suite tomorrow, who knows."
"Ignoring the matter won't help. I think you should go and talk things out."
"Well you can't chose what decision I make."
"I know but I know you and I know you will make the right choice. Call me tomorrow, Dez and Trish are at eachothers throats again. I swear-"
Then he stopped and I looked at my phone. "Austin? Austin you there?"
"Ally I have to go. Trish somehow has a giant saw and is chasing Dez with it! Call you tomorrow!"
With that the conversation ended. I opens the bathroom door and went back to the living room. Amy was watching t.v. When I entered she smiled up at me and asked, "who's Austin?"
"Oh a long time friend. He called because he was worried where I was. I swear, I think he thought I was kidknapped or something!"
"Why was he worried?"
"My mom told him I wasn't at the suite and he got worried so he called. Now lets go back to you and Will!"
"No, we have talked about Will and I for along time. I need answers. How did you and Austin meet?"
"My mom and his mom were best friends since day care."
"Wow! That's along time! How old is he? Is he older then you? Is he older then us?"
"He's exactly a month younger then me."
"Ah, a younger guy I see" she said then wiggled her two eyebrows up and down. "Have you been hanging out with him since you got in Miami?"
"Yes."
"What do you guys usually do? Are you guys together? You guys should be!"
"What is this? 20 questions from Amy? Why do you want to know so much!"
"Come on, it's written all over!"
"What is?"
"You are so oblivious!"
"What! I don't know what you're talking about!"
"Come on, we need to eat dinner" Amy said looking at her phone. "Robin just texted me to go down to the Country Club."
Amy and I spotted Meg, Robin, and the little cutie at a booth. We went over to them and sat down. All of we're catching up on eachothers life. Robin actually got her teaching job and she is now looking for a position that's open. Meg told me she put herself in rehab right after our last party and got out the first of January. I smiled proudly at her. She was proud she went to rehab. I've never really seen anyone proud about going to rehab.
I stayed up with Amy until it was her actual birthday, 12:32 in the morning. She was now an adult and I was still a teen. I woke up with a brunette kid jumping on me.
"Ah" I said then attacked her with tickles.
"Alright you little turd, lets get cleaned up for today. You know what today is, it's your Aunt Amy's birthday" Robin said smiling.
"Yay" she yelled and clapped her hands.
"Hey Robin, could you come with me to the doctors? They just need to see if I can have my crutches off."
"Yeah sure, Amy, take care of my daughter for an hour. Ally and I are going to the doctors."
"Um, yeah, sure, okay" she said confused.
"Well good news and bad news."
"What? What is it?"
"Do you want the bad new or the good news first?"
"Good news" I asked more like a question.
"You're off your crutches and don't need to wrap it anymore."
"And bad news?"
"You can't do anything that will cause you to fall. You can't put pressure to cause you to fall to the ground on your foot for three days. After that, do whatever you feel like doing."
"Alright, thanks doc."
"So are you guys doing anything special tonight for Amy" I asked once we were back in the suite. Amy took the little one to the pool.
"Um, maybe go out to eat again. This whole trip was her birthday present. Meg and I split our money for this trip and payed for Amy."
"That was very nice of you two! Where is Meg anyway?"
"I saw her in the lobby flirting with the same guy from the day we got here again."
"Typical Meg. Well I should probably get back to my suite and talk with my mom."
"Yeah you should." I was about to close the door and head back but Robin spoke. "Hey, let your mom explain first. Don't be so hard on her. Since she has always put you ahead of her all the time, I think you should let her think about herself this one time."
I nodded my head and then shut the door. I walked up to the elevator. Once I got on my floor and reached my door I knocked on the door. I didn't have my room key because I left it with Cloudy.
The door swung open and a women engulfed me with a hug. Ms. Beck hugged me hard but she was so slim it was a bony kind of hug, very uncomfortable.
"Ally! You had all of us worried sick" she said still hugging.
"I'm so sorry for making you feel this way" I said still hugging her.
Her hugs may be uncomfortable but she was still one of the best person I knew. Whatever my mom would disagree on, Ms. Beck would always try to pressure my mom for letting me get my way. Ms. Beck would always be on my side for anything.
One time when I was younger before I moved out to California, Ms. Beck, Mrs. Moon, my mom and I went on a just girls day and we went shopping. That day Mrs. Moon had to cancel beacause she was going to spend a family day with her husband, Austin, and his siblings. That bummed us three out but we moved forward and went shopping. I wanted this really cute dress. I was nagging my mom and she kept on telling me no. Ms. Beck was smiling the whole time and kept on trying to change my mom's mind. Of course my mother had to get the stubborn kind of mind and wouldn't change her mind. Like any seven year old would do I pouted and screamed. My mom went to me and threaten me with not watching Dragon Tails. I was obsessed with that show and she knew I loved that show. That of course got me to shut up. Later on when we got home Ms. Beck called me from her room. I waltz in there and I was twirling until I saw the blue dress I was pouting and screaming for. My jaw dropped like a mile down. I ran over to Ms. Beck and hugged her tightly. I knew right there and then she cared about me. She truely did care about me.
Later on when I was 12, a few days after I turned 12, I had freaked out about Mother Nature. My dad, Austin, Ms. Beck, a seven year old Cloudy, Mr and Mrs. Moon, and I were going to go to the beach in the middle of a hot July summer day, just the seven of us. My mom was making me go because she wanted me to get fresh air. When Austin and I hangout during the summer, I usually make us stay inside and not go I decided I needed to the beach. I went to go to the bathroom before putting on my new swimsuit.
When I went to the bathroom and pulled down my pants, there I saw little droplets of red dropping on my underwear. I started to freak out and stayed in the bathroom for along time. Ms. Beck went to check on me. She used the joke, "I hope you haven't drown in the toilet." When I didn't laugh back she knew something was up. So she knocked on the bathroom door again and asked if I was alright. I answered her back with my 12 year old shaky voice, "is there suppose to be red coming out of my" then when I said privates I whispered that word. I was young and still disgusted how what makes a girl and what makes a guy. I could tell by Ms. Beck's voice that she was smiling. She answered back in the most cheerful way, "honey, you're finally growing up. You have your period!" I looked up from my underwear and started bawling. I didn't want to grow up. I still wanted to be a daddy's little girl. I never wanted to grow up. I heard Ms. Beck asked in confusion, "why are you crying? Ally, let me in, we'll figure this out together." I opened the door slowly and looked up to see a smiling Ms. Beck. She bent down to a full drawers of pads. She took one out and explained to me how it worked. "Can you cancel going to the beach, make an exuse?" When I asked her that she just nodded her head. I was kind of relieved that I got my period. I knew right there and then that she was the person I could go to when I needed help. She was always there when my mother wasn't. I mean every mother is there for their daughter to get their first period. Well not mine. My mother was all way across the Atlantic Ocean in Africa. I had a motherly figure helping me out and that's all what I needed.
And right now I needed her most, I needed a motherly figure that cared about me. I just needed her because right when we were hugging, she collapsed. Her hug wasn't tight anymore. I was the one hugging her tight. I was the one holding her up. When I relaized that, I yelled. I was holding Ms. Beck's torso while her head was resting on my lap with me in a kneeling posion.
"No no no no. Ms. Beck, you can't leave. Promise me, you can't leave, you can't leave Cloudy or Eli! You can't leave my mom, your best friend. You can't leave me" I said crying.
I thought I saw her eyes flutter but when I saw it I got hopes again. When I yelled her name again she gave no response. I imagined her eyes flutter. I imagined her responding that one time!
"No no no! Mom! Dad! Get in here! Dad! Mom" I said crying their names.
My mom came rushing to the living room. When she saw me holding Ms. Beck she ran over. My dad came up and saw what was happening. What made me cry even harder was Cloudy and Eli popping their heads out and seeing their mother laying still, unconscious. My mom then saw my gaze and spotted the two younger kids. She knew what I was thinking, they shouldn't have to see their mother like this.
"Lester, get the kids out of here. I'm taking Beck to the hospital. Ally will call you once everything is settled."
That's just it mom. What if nothing settles down. What if- no I can think this. She's going to be okay. She's coming back. her eyes fluttered, she heard what I said. I relaized that what I imagined wasn't a image. When I kept on saying the words out loud, I knew I wasn't imagining. I knew Ms. Beck heard me and she was going to come back to us.
My mom and I were pacing back and forth outside of Ms. Becks's hospital door. We stopped when the doctor came out and shut the door behind him.
"Are you guys family?"
"Yes. What's going on doctor" my mom asked frantically.
"Well as you all may know, Susannah has breast cancer. We thought her medicine was helping her but we think she stopped taking them. Her cancer spread to her lungs and her lungs collapsed."
My eyes widen. Suddenly I felt my heart drop a ton. It was like I was being smashed by a giant building and it was crushing me. You know in movies after they hear something bad they just block everything out and your screaming but the movie put it on silence. That's what I felt like doing. I always thought doing that was stupid but once you're in their shoes you do it without thinking it. That's what has been happening with Ms. Beck. I wanted to know what was going on but I payed for the price of finding out and this is what I get. I get why eveyone has been hiding this from me. They knew I would react. They didn't want to see me in the condition I was in. Does Austin know? Of course he does, he was trying to tell me to not talk about it. He was trying to avoid this from me.
"Can we go in and see her" I asked once I was alittle but under control of my breathing.
"Not today. She's hooked up with many machines right now and you wouldn't want to see her like that. We're putting her in surgery right now. Tomorrow you can see her" the doctor said sympathetically.
"I'm going to call Mimi" my mom sighed once the doctor left.
I sat down thinking why do bad things have to happen to good people. Ms. Beck is the most caring, wonderful person I know. Sometimes I wish she was my mother instead of my own mother.
When I was 11, for our language class we had to bring our parent or guardian to class to tell us what they do. Well my dad couldn't because he was busy with his business expanding. My mom was still in Africa observing the gorillas. I was throwing a fit at my dad because he couldn't come. So my dad called Ms. Beck. My mom and her always had a closer relashionship with Ms. Beck then Mrs. Moon. She came over right away and knocked on my door. She asked me what the problem was. I told her I didn't have a parent to take with me to show off. She told me "even though I'm not your mother but I am close, how about I go and tell them what I do. It would be like I'm your mother for the day." I smiled at that point and nodded my head. Ms. Beck has been with me no matter what. When my mom wasn't there, she was.
I saw my mom talking on the phone still talking to Mrs. Moon. I wasn't looking at her but I was ease dropping.
"No. She's connected to a lot of machines right now and they won't let us in to see her" I heard her say.
"Not doing so well. I feel like I have disappointed her and if I was where Beck is I don't think she would react like she is now" I heard my mom whisper and out if the corner of my eye I saw her looking at me.
"Mimi, she's been with her throughout everything when I wasn't there."
"I don't know if she would like to talk with anybody right now- not even Austin."
I then stopped ease dropping. More tears started to form and run down my face.
"Dad" I said once he picked up.
"Ally, how is she?"
"Her lungs collapsed and she's in surgery right now. Did you know she had breast cancer?"
"Yes" he sighed.
"Am I the only one who didn't know" I yelled in frustration. "Hey I think you shouldn't bring the kids. I think they should go home and you should go with them."
"Honey, are you sure?"
"Dad, they don't deserve to see their mother in the condition she's in right now. Plus, you have nothing here. In a way, I know you're happy to go with them."
"You'll be home in just nine days. Just enjoy it."
"Yeah. Tell Cloudy and Eli I'll miss them. Bye dad" I said then hung up the phone.
"Ally, you need to go back to the suite" my mom came up to me later that night.
"I'm not going back."
"Her surgery went as planned. Go and sleep, I'll call you if anything happens."
"I'm staying until she wakes up" I said firmly.
"The doctor told me not to get your hopes up if she did wake up."
"Ms. Beck will be better after she wakes up. She's strong, she'll make it" I said more like I was convincing myself more then stating the fact.
"Ally, I'm not going to lie, but she's in the bad stage of her cancer. Anything could happen to her right now. After her lungs collapsing, anything is possible for Beck to-" then my mom swallowed the last part of her sentence. "to die."
"She won't die. She promised me she can't die on us, on me" I said again trying to convince myself.
She sighed and sat down next to me. "Ally, we still need to talk about what happened at lunch at the Country Club."
I sighed nodding my head. I remembered what Robin told me, what Austin told me. Let my mom talk first. I've already had my share of what I thought.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier about any relationship with Connor. I didn't know how to tell you. I didn't want anything to happen like it did at lunch."
"How did you guys meet?"
"I met him on the airplane coming back home. I thought we would never see each other again but that next month when we moved to California I met him again when he was visiting his daughter and her fiancé. I walked in the coffee shop getting hot chocolate for you in the morning for school and I saw him. Then one morning he asked me out on a date."
"I just can't believe you didn't tell me and you're moving on from dad!"
"Honey, it was bound to happen. Why can't you be like your father and be calm like he was at lunch?"
"I'm not like anybody else. I'm my own person. I'm not like dad and I'm deffenetly not like you!"
"Ally, how much you hate it, he's going to be in the family and you're showing up" she said firmly.
"Not if I get emancipated from you."
"Ally, that idea is stupid. It takes months to actually be free of me and you're almost an adult."
"It's not stupid. What's stupid is that you getting into a relationship."
"You'll need my signature if you want to get emancipated."
"I'm leaving this so called vacation right after Ms. Beck wakes up and when I have talked with her" I said firmly then got up and left my mom sitting in the same place as she was when we were talking.
I couldn't sleep at night not knowing what was happening with Ms. Beck. I only slept an hour all in total. I will be honest, I was tired when I walked in the hospital. An hour later once I got their waiting outside her room slouching on the chair, her doctor came out. I suddenly stood up to the doctor and talk to him.
"How is she? Is she up yet?"
"She's up but we want to give her some rest."
"When can I see her" I asked eagerly.
"We think it would be best if you see her tomorrow."
"That's what you said yesterday. I'm seeing her now" I said going to open the door.
"That wouldn't be the best idea. She's not in the best condition right now."
"Nobody with cancer is in any best condition" I said then opened the door.
As I walked in Ms. Beck's head popped up and she saw me. Of course her being herself started to make a joke.
"Whoa, who died? You look like crap."
A tear formed in my eyes and I couldn't help it. I smiled at her and went towards her bed quickly.
"Ms. Beck, you scared the crap out of me!"
"Well, I did promise not to leave you."
"How come you didn't tell me?"
"I didn't want you to pity me. I hate that you know. Have you talked to Austin lately? He's worried about you."
"I talked to him two days ago."
"You should call him again. He's one worried guy."
"Yeah, well he's going to have to wait."
"Ally-"
"Ms. Beck, Austin can wait. I told my dad to take your kids home. He's watching over until Mr. Ridge gets back on his business."
"You know Ally, once I die I want you to promise me something. I want you to watch over Elle and Eli. Be their mother, help them with the good and bad. Take pictures when Elle goes to her prom, when she gets married, be there for her through everything. Make Eli feel like he can do anything, help him get his dream girl. Take care of my babies, promise?"
"No, I'm not promising you anything because you are going to live. You're going to live a long happy life" I said shaking my head while starting to cry.
"Ally, we all know I'm going to die. It's more likely at my stage now."
"No I refuse. You're not dying."
"Ally-" she started to say but my mom opened the door.
I shifted in the chair I was sitting at close to Ms. Beck's bed. My mom walked in and she stood there awkwardly. I got that she wanted me out so she could talk with Ms. Beck.
"I'm going to go. I will check up and see how you're doing by her" I said moving my head towards my mom. I didn't really know what to call her right now. "I'm going back to Miami."
"Ally, just please promise me" she said pleading in her glassy hazel eyes.
"Goodbye Ms. Beck, I'll see you when you get home" I said then I leaned in to give her a gentle hug.
That night I packed my belongings and went to the airport. I got a plane ticket to Miami right away. After the taxi dropped me off at my house and got my suitcase out of the trunk, off he went. I rolled my suitcase up to the front of my house but stopped. I saw a blond boy waiting for me.
My mom probably called Austin because there I saw him, sitting on my porch, in the rain getting wet, waiting for me, in the middle of the night. I dropped my suitcase and ran towards Austin. I didn't care if my suitcase got wet. Nothing mattered to me anymore. All that mattered was having Austin here for me. Austin stood up and hugged me. I cried, no I sobbed, in his chest. I'm probably leaving a wet stain but I don't care and I know for a fact that Austin doesn't care. His head was resting on top of my head and he kept on whispering to me it's going to be alright. Shh, it's alright. While he kept on soothing me he was rubbing my back. It was nice having comfort back. Having someone looking after you when you are hurt. It was nice having Austin back.
The last time I had comfort was when I found out the Hollywood guy cheated on me. That wasn't real comfort though. It didn't feel like it to me. My mom's comfort wasn't like Ms. Beck's comfort or Austin's.
When I was 9 during our winter break, Ms. Beck and Austin convinced me to go to the beach with the whole gang, Austin, his siblings, well Anthony and Mary weren't with us. Anthony was with his girlfriend and Mary was at her summer job, his parents, Ms. Beck's five year old daughter was, Ms. Beck, her happy right by her side husband back then, and my dad. The dads were in the arcade just talking. Ms. Beck and Mrs. Moon were watching the kids on the beach in their lawn chairs. Mark and Michael decided to go hangout with their friends. Cloudy was with Ms. Beck and Mrs. Moon napping. Austin decided that we should go in the water. I didn't really want to but I did. We were just having fun. Austin and I decided to see who could swim out the farthest. I stopped when I saw a jellyfish. It looked so cool, I was tempted to play with it. I began drumming it in top of its head, the jllyfish got so mad, it stung me. Austin brought me back to the shore and ran up to get his Ms. Beck since his mom was out buying ice cream with Cloudy. Ms. Beck saw my swollen ankle and she saw me crying. I was in Ms. Beck's arms and crying. that wasn't that bad part though. After I was calm in 20 minutes, Ms. Beck got a phone call from my mom. After what Ms. Beck heard what my mom told her she told me and I started bawling again. My mom had told Ms. Beck that my uncle died. I was crying hard, harder then I usually did. Ms. Beck just held on to me and rocked me back and forth. Her comfort got me to stop crying hard. That's when I found out I could trust Ms. Beck.
I cried harder in Austin's arms. He rocked me back and forth just like Ms. Beck did when I found out my uncle died. I was in Austin's arms and my hair was blowing in my face because of the storm picking up with the wind. There we were me crying in Austin's arms while he was trying to calm me down in the pouring rain. It was rare of Austin seeing me like this. I mean after the whole Cassidy when I was younger, I stopped crying in front of him. He has seen me shed a tear when we went to the pond. Other then that, it was a rare case of Austin seeing me cry hard.
