Chapter 7

When the bell rang signaling the end of fifth hour to head to lunch Alex stood up with a pit in stomach. Not because he was afraid of getting hurt, he knew Jake couldn't hurt him. No, Alex was afraid that if he didn't find a way to avoid the fight and he lost control Jake might end up dead.

"Hey Fiona!" Stacey called when she saw Fiona in the hallway.

"Hi, what's up?" Fiona asked as she joined Stacey by her locker.

"Didn't you hear, the druggie is finally getting what's been coming to him."

"What do you mean?" Fiona questioned slightly concerned for Alex.

"Well Alex skipped out on football practice yesterday so Jake has decided to teach him a lesson. Come lunch time the druggie is gonna get it." Stacey replied smirking happily.

Before Fiona could reply the bell for second hour rang.

"See you at lunch, I'll be sure to save you a good seat." Stacey called to Fiona as she walked away.

"See ya" Fiona called back.

Walking into second hour Fiona spotted Alex just staring out of the window like he did in every class. Sitting down she cast him a quick glance of concern asking if he was gonna be okay. All he responded with was a slight nod of his head.

During chemistry Fiona tried to pay attention to what the teacher was saying but she couldn't. Her mind just kept going back to Alex, more specifically the fight he would be partaking in during lunch. Fiona knew that Jake was no match for Alex. If he wanted Alex could kill Jake before he even swung a punch, which is what worried her.

Fiona subconsciously rubbed her neck where Alex had held her in a death choke just the night before. She knew first handed what Alex was capable of and how unstable he truly was. What concerned her was that Alex would loose control and she wouldn't be able to stop him. That Jake could end up dead and if that was the case she knew Alex could never recover from that. He would blame himself for killing an "innocent" civilian for the rest of his life.

As the bell for lunch rang Alex grudgingly dumped his books into his locker and headed towards the lunch room. He still thought of ditching the rest of the school day but that was just delaying the inevitable. Jake would never let this go, one way or another he was going to try and teach Alex a lesson.

"Well, well, well... Look who finally decided show his face" Jake said while cornering Alex as soon as he walked into the lunch room. A crowd quickly forming.

"Jake, please you don't have to do this." Alex said looking around for any teacher that would put a stop to the fight. Unfortunately for Alex it seemed , the only teacher in the room has decided to turn a blind eye. He always did hate me after I proved him wrong in world history last year Alex thought.

"Oh, but I do. You are giving this school a bad rep, and I need to fix that." Jake responded pulling up his sleeves and cracking his knuckles. His buddies formed a circle around the two.

Seeing that there was no way out of this Alex readied himself for whatever Jake may try. "Seriously Jake, you don't want to do this." Alex said spreading his feet and slipping into his killer domineer. His eyes taking in his sounding spotted Fiona right on the edge of the ring, concern and worry hiding in her eyes.

"Oh, but you're wrong. I do." Jake responded. With that he threw a punch towards Alex's head, which he easily avoided.

"You afraid to get hit Rider?" Jake challenged as Alex dodged his next two punches.

Jake's buddies chants echoed in Alex's ears. He was trying as hard as he could to fight his killer instinct and stay on the defense but it kept getting harder and harder as Jake continued to taunt him while throwing punches.

"Stop being a prissy Rider and fight me!" Jake yelled in Alex face.

In that moment Alex lost it, he switched form defense to offense. Dodging another punch form Jake he landed a quick but powerful blow to the gut. Wasting no time Alex attached like an animal, pelting Jake with punches that where impossible to dodge.

With a quick sweeping kick Alex brought Jake's legs out from underneath him and knelt down on top of him, digging his knee into his gut. Alex brought his fist back to land the killing blow to Jake's temple but before he could-

"Alex! Stop!" Fiona voice broke through the silent room like a knife. She stepped out of ring ready to take action if needed. "Alex, you need to stop" Fiona said again her voice loud and clear yet clam.

In that moment Alex came back to reality, his killer instinct fading. He saw Jake laying bloody and battered underneath him. There was fear in his eyes as he stared back up at Alex.

"P-pp-please, don't. I'm-" Jake started to say but his voice faltered at the look on Alex's face.

Alex was in emotional turmoil, his fist still hovering over Jake's face. Half of Alex's mind was telling him to finish it. Jake was the enemy, he started the fight he was the tormenter he needed to be stopped permanently. The other half of Alex's mind told him to stop. This was a civilian, and although Alex had killed before he was not a murder. He didn't want to cross that line, but on the other hand he was so far gone what did it matter.

With tears burning in his eyes over his emotional turmoil Alex brought down his raised fist with a sickening crack that could be heard through out the room.
