Helen sucked in a small breath then opened her mouth to speak, only to be interrupted.
"No, don't. I'm sorry. I don't want us to do this again. We've come too far for me to be so childish around you just because I'm insecure." Will stopped, running his hand over his face before he would say anything else, anything that he might regret later.
Helen let her hands rest on the table, palms up, as if inviting Will to take them. He looked down at them, raising a brow.
"We've come far, not that far. I don't need you to console me."
She tried to not look affronted, "It was more for me than you." Her even tone didn't suggest annoyance, but the hunched shoulders and downcast gaze told the psychologist otherwise. He had noticed lately, he'd started to rely on the others to tell him what was going on, rather than inferring and searching for the answers like he'd used to. He'd have to stop that.
He did not relish hopping back on the bike, straddled so close behind her, but he didn't want to dally either. "Can we go?"
"I'd rather not." Helen offered, much to Will's surprise. Normally, at his first sign of discomfort, if it wasn't of importance, like a mission, she'd stop, and allow him his retreat. Not this time.
"What are we doing here?" He jabbed. If she wasn't going to let him back out of it, then he'd be childish about it. Maybe she'd think twice about making him stick around.
Helen did not answer, but left the table, kicking off her boots, and stripping first her jacket, then her shirt, and finally slipping out of her leather pants. She lay all of the garments neatly across the table behind them, then turned to her colleague.
"Swimming. At least I am. Care to join me?"
Will thought of blinking, and couldn't bring himself to do it. He didn't want to avert his gaze from the body in front of him. From his boss. That thought almost broke him, but he continued to let his eyes wander over her curves, and imagine what she looked like without the simple black undergarments. His heart beat a little faster, each thump harder as he considered the proposal. He'd have to disrobe as well. It wasn't the most comfortable of thoughts, but she was willing to bare all in front of him. Then, she was a goddess, and he...
He took the offer, standing, and stripping as she had, as she turned to head towards the sparkling water. She left her underclothes just off the beach, away from the water, before wading in until the water was to her collarbone. She didn't turn until she heard Will's attempts to control his breathing behind her.
"The water is nice this time of year. Still warm, even though the air is chilly." She commented before dipping her head back to wet her hair. As she pulled her body up, Will continued to stare, unable to do anything else.
She grinned, "A picture will last longer, Dr. Zimmerman."
The short reply, "But it would ruin this moment."
"Ah." Helen laughed and stepped through the squishy sand underneath, closer to Will. "Like this?" She leaned forward and kissed him, gently, tenderly, bringing one hand up to his cheek while the other arm wrapped around his torso.
He accepted the kiss gracefully. Even returning it, once he finally realized he wasn't dreaming. When she pulled away, his eyes had finally left her, and instead, looked at the small distance of water between them.
"Did you know the warehouse would be empty?" he asked.
Helen lifted his chin and looked into the baby blues that almost matched the water around them, "Yes."
"Did you have today planned all along?"
"Yes."
"And it's safe to assume you sat awake all night calculating all of the ways this could go?"
"Of course."
"And you still concluded, that today was acceptable?"
"We're here, are we not?" Helen smiled slightly, her hand still on his chin, and arm around his waist, slowly moving his body closer to hers as the waves moved them to and fro.
"You kissed me."
"That isn't a question." She replied.
"It feels like it." Will responded with a small chuckle before kissing her again. This time, there was a hunger to the kiss. A small nip of her bottom lip, and a slight graze of tongues had both breathless by the time Will ended the adventure, pulling away from the woman entirely.
"Magnus,.."
"Helen. We're alone." She corrected.
Will shook his head, "I don't know if I can. I can try, but you've, always been Magnus to me. In my head, sure, I've thought about calling you Helen, but it doesn't sound right when it leaves my mouth. Like I'm being disrespectful."
Helen laughed and splashed him, "Then we'll just have to make you say it some more, until it's as natural as the noises you make when you stretch."
He let her poke, but slowly headed towards shore, not turning to find his way. He watched as she followed suit, the water sinking lower and lower on both bodies, until they were in ankle deep water. Both were aroused, but Helen would never admit to her guilt in the matter. Will, on the other hand, couldn't hide it.
He stopped when his feet hit dry sand, and she approached until they were touching again.
"It's hard to back away when something tempts you so, isn't it?" She teased.
"You've no idea." He muttered, as her hands softly played down his sides.
"I think I do. I've been tempted too long, I think."
"Not by me." He defended.
"Oh, yes. By you, Dr. Zimmerman. You have been one of the biggest teases of all. So timid, and shy. Scared to cross boundaries. You leave the choice to me, when all I can think about is you not giving me the choice. I wanted you to break, to know that you would risk everything to make sure you could or couldn't have me. Too bad, you value you're job with me a little too much."
Will shuddered, re-imagining all of the scenarios that fit this one little fantasy she wanted, and knew it to be true. He pulled away, tugging on underwear that seemed to fit a little tighter than before.
"Of course I value the job. It's everything I could've hoped for in a career. Did you ever expect me to actually try anything?" He tugged on his pants and shirt over his wet skin, leaving every garment damp.
"No, which is why I would have been surprised and delighted had you done so. In any case, we're here now. I'll let you run now, but this isn't finished William. I expect another round of chess tonight. Same place, same time. Pack up what's left of the food, will you?"
Will sighed, and smiled slightly while Helen got dressed. This couldn't end well. But he was willing to see it to the end, especially after that kiss.
