DISCLAIMER: I Do not own Inuyasha
Chapter 7: Friends Alike
Under the glimmering moonlight is me and Inuyasha. Maybe it was a while ago since he transformed back to his hanyou self, but now he is exactly as I remembered him, his long silver hair, dancing with the wind. I can feel his warm embrace smothering me closely, as we shared a kiss under thousands of stars.
Inuyasha's fangs were tickling my tongue as he explored each area inside my mouth. The heat of this moment is overwhelming. Inuyasha started caressing my back, shifting slowly from my neck to my hips. Each movement is in tune of our passionate reconciliation. I placed both my arms around his neck. Without realising it, I found myself holding onto one of his ears. He flinched for a moment, but then let it slide. Maybe it's to make myself aware if this moment is real or not. However at this moment of time, I only know one thing. I want this moment to last forever, for me and Inuyasha to be together forever.
We stayed in the same position for a while. I slowly pulled away, trying to remember this memory. I wanted to gaze at his beautiful golden eyes. Inuyasha locked his eyes with mine. I can see his gentle smile of satisfaction. It's almost the opposite of how he was when we first gaze upon each other. I don't know why, but it was soothing for us to just sit in silence, under the sacred tree. I never took Inuyasha for a silent type, but I suppose any noise can just ruin this serenity wrapped around the small space we are accommodating.
"Thank you Kagome. Thank you for waiting for me. It's been so long, but…" Inuyasha whispered.
"But I still love you? To be honest, I don't know why either. I tried to forget you Inuyasha. I tried so hard to move on, but with each day that passed my heart just longed for you even more." I replied.
Inuyasha's face never looked so content.
"I almost thought I was cursed, or I imagined everything that happened. All of the time we spent together, was probably just a dream." I added.
"A curse? A dream? You think I was a dream!? That was one heck of a dream! What kind of twisted person would dream fighting demons?" he ranted loudly.
"That would be me." I chuckled. "Inuyasha…If you don't mind me asking, what happened to our friends? After I left, I mean." I asked.
"Well, Sango and Miroku are still happily married with their 3 children, for now. 'Cough' Those 2 girls still won't stop calling me doggy man. One day, their parents will correct them, right?" Inuyasha chuckled, he looked very happy as he remembered our friends. I'm happy to know that they filled him with happiness rather than going back to a void of loneliness. Maybe if it wasn't for them, he would have gone back to the way he was. The Inuyasha I knew, before our journey started, when he was all alone, travelling the vast part of the country, only to find any means to survive.
"Shippo, pretty much, lives with Sango and Miroku. Come to think of it, their kids are taller than Shippo now." Inuyasha rolled back and forth with laughter. I suppose he is imagining, how our small fox demon friend, still hasn't grown up in appearance since we first met him. I wonder how they measure a demon's age; Even Inuyasha must be hundreds of years old. Wait doesn't that make him a… Wait let's not think of it like that.
"Oh, and of course Kaede is still alive and kicking. She had to resume to the shrine duties of a priestess…because of a certain someone disappearing for so many years. The poor old maid couldn't retire." He said whilst pointing at me.
"Oh yeah? Well she won't need to worry about demons, if someone wasn't slacking and slain them for her instead." I answered with a smug on my face.
"Who're you calling a slacker!? Me? Keh- You don't even know the meaning of slaying demons" Inuyasha exclaimed. He was so proud of himself that he even stood up, just to be on a higher level than me.
"I don't huh! So I'm guessing I was right all along! It was all a DREAM!" I stood up and shouted back at him. I wasn't really mad at him. I just retaliated to his short temper.
We both stared at each other for a while, and then started laughing. I suppose we both understood that it's just like old times. When we bicker out of the smallest of things, but still reconcile almost instantly.
Inuyasha held out my hand and wrapped his fingers around mine. He brought my hands closer to his lips. He started sniffing my hands, maybe to remind him of my scent. All this years he lost me, he must want to make sure he never loses me again. This action brought a smirk upon my face. I want to tell him, not to worry anymore. Inuyasha, I'll never leave your side…ever again… I know I didn't have to say it out loud, with just one look I knew he already knew what I am thinking.
"Kagome…I" Inuyasha whispered. Slowly he moved his face ever so closer to my face again.
'CRACK! BANG! BOOM'
The bonds of our realm have cracked. The lighting covered all the sky, thunder roared moments later. The roar of the night sky was to be feared. Something was coming. Something I could have never foreseen.
'Thud'
"INU-yasha…" A faintly familiar voice cried out his name. The voice was coming deep within the startled forest.
To be continued…
