Chapter Seven

I woke up with a smile, putting my arm out and opening my eyes when Sylar wasn't in the bed next to me. I wasn't too worried though, I could hear him tinkering in the shop.

After we had come back in, soaking wet and dripping on the floor and barely stopping to breathe through our kisses, he got me some pants and respectfully went in to the shop to change his. His chest was smooth, unmarred and so warm. I had fallen asleep curled up against him, my head on his chest, just listening to the beat of his heart.

I rolled on to my back, folding my arms beneath my chest and looking at the ceiling. If someone had told me that I would meet someone who was only identical to Spock in his looks and I would choose him over Spock, I would have laughed. Never in a million years would I have thought that I would fall in love with a psychopathic serial killer whose emotions usually were in the red.

Sylar came in to the back room wearing a black t-shirt and raising his eyebrows when he saw me awake. I grinned at him, jumping up and swinging my feet on to the floor.

"Morning." I said.

"What were you thinking about?" He asked, striding over to me.

"Well…. Spock kissed me last night." He tensed, moving to turn around and I grabbed his arm. "And the only thing I could think about was you kissing me."

He turned around slowly, eyeing me warily before straddling me, biting my neck while I groaned, slipping my hands under his shirt and on to his waist.

"You are very weird." He muttered in my ear, going back to giving me a hickey while my breathing picked up.

"And I love you." I moaned. He immediately froze and I opened my eyes, blushing at him when he pulled away to look at me.

"Hmm…. Well, I don't love you…" he trailed off and I smiled at the unspoken yet. "But I do love your lips."

I gasped when he kissed me, his tongue slipping in and immediately taking dominance of mine. He nipped at my lips and I dug my nails in to his skin, allowing myself to fall back, pulling him down with me.

The bell above the door rang and we froze, eyes locked on to each other's.

"Sylar!" Peter yelled. He really doesn't give up, does he?

"Do you think he's even here, wouldn't he have abandoned the place already?" Hiro said.

"No, he's here, I know it." Peter growled.

"Maybe they'll go away?" I whispered, not wanting to stop. Sylar smirked, giving me a quick kiss before helping me up and throwing another black shirt at me. The guy really liked black! I quickly put it on, doing up the buttons and following behind him.

"What do you want?" He asked, tilting his head. Peter saw me and blinked, his eyebrows furrowing while Hiro gasped.

"You told us that the rest of his crew came and brought him back to his own world!" Hiro said, looking at Peter accusingly.

"They did." I interjected. "But I chose to stay here with Sylar."

"What? Captain Kirk has gone to the dark side?" Hiro protested. I didn't see Ando with him. I sighed, shaking my head and lacing my fingers through Sylar's. He looked down at them before shrugging and looking back at Peter.

"Five seconds to tell me what you want or I'm going to need to replace the door." He threatened.

"You know what I want."

"Why are you guys even fighting?" I asked, looking at them while they looked at me in shock.

"It's complicated. But the fact of the matter is, you need to choose whose side you're on. His, or ours. Know this, if you choose his, I will kill you, no matter who you are." He said, fixing me with a look. "Make the right decision."

"Of course he will! He's the hero of Starfleet, he's saved the world twice now!" Hiro said, grinning like a little boy. Sylar's grip on my hand loosened and Peter was inspecting me, listening in to my thoughts.

"And what if I'm not a golden boy anymore, Hiro?" I asked, letting go of his hand and stepping in front of him. "What if I said there were things more important than choosing sides and fighting wars?"

"You'd be wrong." Peter said. "There's not a damn thing more important."

"Not even family?" I said, stepping forward. He froze, stumbling back a step. "Not even love?"

"Shut up!" He yelled, swinging his hand and slamming me in to one of the tables. My arms went out in front of me and I hissed as something cut in to my skin.

"Let me fight my own battles." I said before Sylar could do anything. I got up, ignoring the trickle of blood down my arm.

"You don't know a damn thing about family." Peter yelled.

"My father died the day I was born. He was Captain for twelve minutes, he saved eight hundred lives, including my mother's and mine. I grew up with a mother who was never there, a brother who ran away and left me to fend for myself against a step father who used me as a beating post." I fixed him with a glare and clenched my fists. "Go ahead. Tell me I don't know anything about family. One. More. TIME!"

He backed up a step and Hiro looked at him for a moment before looking back to me.

"Captain-."

"Not Captain anymore, Hiro, just James." I said. He swallowed hard and, eyes on Sylar, took another step forward.

"James T. Kirk, you have been through hell and back, you even died." I reeled backwards, grabbing on to the table I had fallen on, ignoring the pain in my arm.

"How the hell do you know that?" I yelled. He flinched but met my eyes unwaveringly.

"You have the blood of a vicious man in you and still you are good. So please, don't do this." He pleaded. I looked back at Sylar who was leaning on a table, his arms crossed tightly. I met his eyes and they said one thing. You go and I will be the one to hunt you down and kill you.

"Hiro, I made my decision when I didn't go home with Spock. Here is my home now. This is where I belong. So please, don't make this any harder than it has to be." I said.

"So you're choosing him over all the principals, all the rules you followed." Peter said. I smirked at him, tilting my head.

"You obviously don't know me well, cause I don't follow the rules. To me, rules were made to be broken. And I don't believe in no – win scenarios." I said. "Go ahead. Throw a punch at me, use your super powers. I will protect him until my dying breath."

"And what, you have nothing to add to this." Peter said.

"He protects me, I protect him. Now get out of my shop before I throw you out." He threatened. Peter looked at me, turning around and storming out without another word. I relaxed slightly, I hadn't expected him to leave without a fight. Hiro gave me another pleading look before frowning and starting towards the door. He stopped, turning around slightly with a hand on the door, his eyes fixed on the other side of it.

"Sylar killed Peter's brother." He whispered. Then he met my eyes with a look of determination. "No matter what you chose, you will always be my hero."

I took a step forward, my hand out, and he left, the bell chiming. I choked, feeling like a complete dick for mentioning family to him.

"Let me see your arm, you landed on my clock parts." Sylar said quietly, coming over and lifting my arm. I finally let the pain get to me and hissed, clenching my jaw.

"How bad?" I asked.

"Well, you have a small gear in your arm and a few scratches, but other than that, you're okay." He said, sighing.

"Great. I guess he really grinded my gears." I said, grinning at him. He fixed me with a not amused look and I dropped the smile, ducking my head. "Sorry."

He sighed again, capturing my lips before grabbing a head set with a magnifying glass in it and a pair of tweezers.

"Hold still." He said, looking so intent. It would have been adorable had there not been extreme pain in my arm from him pulling a fucking gear out of it! I tried to be strong, so I wouldn't piss him off with weakness but I couldn't help clenching my eyes shut and groaning in pain as I felt it inch by inch.

"Thank you." I said breathlessly. He looked up at me for a second before lifting up the gear with a smirk. It was covered with my blood and just the thought of it being in my arm… oh god! I booked it in to the bathroom, throwing up the very miniscule contents of my stomach. I was dry heaving and coughing, my face red while I groaned, when I heard his footsteps approach.

"You did that on purpose you sadistic son of a bitch." I managed to say. I heard his chuckle as I wiped my face and flushed the toilet, kneeling back and trying to breathe. Then his shoe connected with my ribs, sending me sprawling on my side coughing.

"That's for getting blood on my gear." He said, a dark tone in his voice. I lay there in shock and the moment I went to get up, he kicked me down again. "That's for telling me what to do."

"Fuck you." I coughed, glaring up at him and feeling blood drip from my mouth, the metallic taste of it filling my senses. "Looks like the only fucking protection I need is from you."

A familiar blade was at his throat in a second but he seemed unfazed.

"Hiro." He said, smirking at me.

"James." Hiro said, stepping out from behind Sylar but not taking his eyes off him. I instantly felt on edge and safe with this Hiro. He looked older, more mature. His glasses were gone, his hair slicked back. A dark trench coat fit to him and I couldn't help but stare.

"See something you like." Sylar spat. I glared at him and coughed as I slowly got to my feet.

"I am Hiro from the future, and I came to warn you despite how I shouldn't." He said. His accent was practically gone and he was speaking English fluently.

"What's wrong?" I asked. He tensed up before his eyes flickered to me.

"He kills you."

"W… What?" I said, backing up. Sylar tilted his head, eyeing me like he usually does.

"I just swore to protect you, why would I kill you? He's lying to get you to leave me." Sylar said.

"Bullshit, you just kicked the shit out of me." I shot back. He stiffened and a look passed through his eyes.

"I shouldn't have, sometimes I lose control." He muttered. Hiro looked over at me again.

"Leave now, take this card, and call the number. It is Ando's cell phone. Go, be safe, and maybe you can go back home if you want. I am not saying this to make you choose my side, I have more honor than that." He hesitated for a second as I took the card from him. "You will always be my hero. But today, let me be yours."

I hope it was worth the wait! Please review and let me know what you thought of it!
