Chapter 7
The little time I had hope for to be with my thoughts seem to elude me as the door was pulled open revealing my husband with a bottle of rum in one hand, and two wooden pint cups being held by the other. His face held a charming smile as he sauntered into the room in his normal swagger as he kicked the door shut with bottom of his boot.
I couldn't stop the smile from creeping onto my face as I watched him walk over to the desk and deposit the items onto the wooden surface. He kept his back turn toward me as he inclined his heads slightly toward my general direction. "What is troubling you, luv?" He inquired as I heard him pop the cork off of the rum bottle. The thoughts that originally eluded me now seem to wash over me. I kept silent as I tried to at least grasp one of the thoughts.
When I finally grasped one of them, I was startled to see Jack standing just inches in front of me offering a one of the wooden pint cups that was now full of rum.
"What is it, luv?" Jack's voice had a soft and comforting tone to it. I looked up at him, and breathe in a deep breath hoping that this wasn't the start of a huge argument. "Why Will? Why are you going to have him negotiating for you while you stay here and watch from a distance?" I asked.
Jack looked as if he was taken aback, but soon recovered as he glared down at me. "You know bloody well that I wouldn't do that to him if I didn't have a plan to back it up!" he growled, "Plus why do you care so much for the whelp? Is there something going on between the two of you?! I mean you were in a bone cage together!"
I felt like I had been slapped in the face. My blood began to boil in rage, and before I could control myself from making the situation worse the words seemed to exploded out of my mouth with venom dripping from them.
"Oh yes, Jack! There must be something going on between him and me since we shared a bone cage for about 2 hours!" I shouted back sarcastically.
"Jade I didn't-," Jack didn't get to finish his statement as I cut him off mid-sentence.
"Plus you wouldn't have had to worry about that if you never landed on that god-forsaken spit of land!" I shrieked as I felt my blood boiling to an uncontrollable level, "On top of that Will is my friend, and I would never hurt you like that! Also we both know that most of the plans that you come up with don't always go as planned!"
"Why can't you trust me?!" Jack growled.
I stood there in shock and felt like I was frozen in my spot. My eyes were wide in disbelief at his words. "Says the man who just accused me of committing adultery!" I sneered.
"Well if you would have let me finish earlier you would know that I didn't mean what I said!" He barked.
"You know you meant every word or else you wouldn't have said them." I snarled as I grabbed the pint of rum he was still offering.
I took a couple of sips before turning my attention to him. "I've always trusted you… If I didn't I would have never come with you when we left Port Royal, and I wouldn't have married you either… Also if I loved Will in that manner I wouldn't have left either… Did you ever think of that?" I inquired as I turn around and walked to the door.
"There's something for you to consider before making vicious accusations," I said softly without turning around to face him. With that I opened the door, and stepped outside of the cabin.
'Oh that's just lovely,' I thought as I was met with the sight of crew members standing around the deck staring at me. Apparently they had heard our argument, and now they were looking at me with pitied expressions. "Get back to work!" I barked as I walked to the railing that was furthest away from the cabin.
I replayed the fight repeatedly in my mind, and let out a frustrated sigh. 'Looks like I'm sleeping in Alyssa's room tonight,' I thought as I looked at the sea below.
