"Young master, that fire is too high."
Ciel groaned, it was the tenth day of their temporary retreat and Sebastian insisted on teaching the young master how to cook. He sat on a wooden stool near the refrigerator, watching over every move Ciel made.
"The sauce has too much salt in it," the butler sighed, "and don't cook the fish so soon."
"Shut up, this is my first time using a stove," he said annoyed while taking out a baked salmon from the oven. He served the fish on two plates and placed one in front of Sebastian.
"It's not bad," he said after tasting it. Ciel looked down at his plate and ate a forkful of his creation before gagging and chugging down a glass of water.
"My God, this tastes horrible! You lied to me!"
"Young master, I do not lie. Demons have a different sense of taste. It seemed fine to me."
Bullshit. Ciel scowled but managed to finish his dinner.
After cleaning the kitchen (which consisted of dumping dishes into the sink), he walked over to the armchair. Sitting down as he peered over to the couch where Sebastian was resting.
Day Ten:
So far Sebastian's condition seem to be on hiatus. His symptoms have been mild and his fever broke yesterday. However, now he's become restless, constantly trying to resume his responsibilities and it's driving me insane! But to be honest, I am worried about him.
He still gets tired easily and sleeps most of the day, so I allow him to move around the house a bit as long as he takes it easy. I don't want him to exert himself.
"Do you wish to have something sweet, young master?" Sebastian murmured half asleep.
"No Sebastian, I want you to rest. Don't you dare set one foot into that kitchen."
Sebastian reached into his pocket and pulled out a piece of butterscotch. Ciel took the candy from his hand and popped it into his mouth. "Thanks," he mumbled.
"You shouldn't talk with your mouth full," he slurred a bit as he falls back into his dream state.
The boy rolled his eyes and returned to his journal.
But that doesn't stop him from being a butler. It's hard to believe there are these sides of Sebastian. Scared, weakened, angry, exhausted. I guess it's normal for demons to feel this way when they have the Agonia Phenomenon. But it's not normal for me to see him like that. Could a disease really cause all of this to happen to someone? Is it possible, that even Sebastian has his limits?
"What soft paws you have, Mr. Cuddles..."
Ciel looked up. His butler was sleeptalking about cats again.
"Miss Fluffy, would you like some milk...?"
Ciel stifled a laughed. So that's what goes on in his head. Ciel set aside his journal and shifted towards the dreaming butler.
"...oh, you brought the kittens, Madame Purrcy. How adorable are they. Heh, their fur tickles my fingers..." A genuine smile spread across his face as his fingers curled.
The young master snickered. No matter how much Sebastian wants to deny it, in some ways, he was like a human.
