Chapter Seven

They didn't have the opportunity to ask many more questions before Mrs Weasley came into the room to announce that lunch was ready. During the lunch, Kakashi discussed some of the details of the plan with the adults at the table. They were leaving tomorrow to scope out the castle before returning to catch the Hogwarts Express with the other children. They decided that it would be best in order to blend in and raise as little suspicion as possible. Kakashi was to teach defence against the dark arts this year and in order to prepare he would stay behind on the trip tomorrow to learn from Sirius Black and Remus Lupin. Asides from discussing the plans for protection the lunch was fairly uneventful and ended with the young ninja and wizards returning to their own rooms.

Gathered in their room reading books about wizard's spells, Sakura thought this would be the perfect time to confront Naruto and Sasuke.

"Hey you guys have been weird ever since you came back from the Valley, are you ever going to tell us what happened?" She questioned.

Both Naruto and Sasuke turned to each other, a little surprised at what Sakura had asked but both of them knew that she'd ask eventually. They looked at each other and seemingly had a conversation with their eyes. Then Sasuke let out a small sigh.

"Just tell her Naruto," Sasuke said softly.

Naruto was shocked that Sasuke actually wanted him to tell Sakura what happened in the Valley but he complied anyway.

"Well its kinda a long story," He began.

"We have the time," Sakura responded.

"Uh okay so I managed to catch up with Sasuke in the Valley and at first there was a lot of fighting" Naruto turned to Sasuke for confirmation that he really wanted to tell the story. Sasuke nodded.

"And then after we went at each other with Rasengan and Chidori we were both so exhausted and injured we couldn't move so we just spoke. And I guess we both confessed some feelings that we had for each other…" Naruto trailed off hoping that Sakura would catch on. She didn't.

"We're dating Sakura", Naruto announced.

Sakura was shocked, to say the least. Of all the reason why Sasuke returned she had not expected this. Well not at first. The more she thought about it the more it made sense. Ever since they returned they were always around each other if you saw Sasuke Naruto wouldn't be far behind. Even just yesterday when the fox started to go out of control and the way it calmed down as soon as Sasuke approached. It all made sense now.

The longer Sakura thought about it the more nervous Naruto became. He and Sakura didn't start off as friends but after Sasuke left they became closer and he did not want to their friendship to fall apart. Sasuke noticed Naruto's worry beginning to sink in and moved closer taking his hand into his own. Sakura saw this and made up her mind.

"Thank you for trusting me enough to tell me this," She began.

Naruto felt relief wash over him and even Sasuke felt a small feeling of relief.

"So you're okay with this?" Naruto asked.

"Of course! You have been so much happier recently, even you Sasuke. Why would I not support something that makes my friends happy?" Sakura replied.

Naruto felt like a huge weight was taken off his shoulders. Sakura knew and she accepted their relationship, which meant no more hiding it. Naruto rushed forward and pulled Sakura into a hug.

"Sasuke join us!" He turned and called Sasuke over.

"Hmm I think I'll pass Dobe"

In Harry's room Hermione, Ron and Harry were discussing the four ninjas.

"I just don't understand why Dumbledore would do this without even talking to us," Harry complained.

"That's Professor Dumbledore Harry and you know it might not be such a bad idea. I mean they seem pretty nice." Hermione said.

"Yeah mate," Ron added. "And if they turn out to not be strong enough we always have you to defeat you-know-who."

"That's true Ron but something just seems off about them especially that blonde one. I mean he has those weird lines on his face and also don't forget that freak out he had. His eyes went red for god's sake." Harry said.

Ron and Hermione had to agree with Harry to some extent. This Naruto kid seemed quite strange.

"Maybe we should just ask him about what happened?" Hermione suggested.

"Bloody hell Hermione you can't be serious. We can't do that."

"Why not Ron? They're all in their rooms, we could just go ask now."

Hermione stood and started to leave the room. The boys following just like she had thought. She knew that their curiosity would get the better of them. They approached the door of the room that the ninja have been staying in and knocked.

The door opened slowly to reveal the dark haired ninja.

"What do you want?" Sasuke asked glaring at the wizards.

Ron nudged Hermione forward causing her to turn and glare at him.

"Sorry but we were just wondering what happened yesterday when Naruto's eyes went red?" Hermione asked nervously.

"That's none of your business."

"Sasuke-teme don't be so rude," Naruto exclaimed bounding over to the door. "What do they want?"

"They want to know what happened yesterday"

This caused a visible shift in Naruto's behaviour. He went from happy to nervous as soon as Sasuke spoke.

"Oh well, in that case, yeah it's none of your business," Naruto replied moving to close the door.

"I think we have a right to know. What if it's going to affect your ability to protect the castle," Harry demanded.

"It's not going to affect my abilities at all and I'd really rather not say it's very personal," Naruto tried to explain in order to get rid of these kids.

"It can't be that bad," Harry insisted.

"I've already said I'm not telling you," Naruto said we a forced smile.

Hermione and Ron could tell that the ninja were beginning to get angry, especially Sasuke who's glare intensified. Hermione was beginning to think that this wasn't such a good idea and tried to nudge Harry back.

"Oh come on, just tell us!"

"He already said no." Sasuke growled pushing Naruto behind him and moving forward closer to Harry, "So just let it go and leave."

Harry hated to admit it but Sasuke did frighten him slightly. So he backed away and stormed off back to his room.

Hermione turned and looked at the ninja apologetically before dragging Ron after Harry.

Sasuke slammed the door shut. He was fuming, they were stuck with a spoiled brat for the next year who thought he deserved the world. Naruto noticed this anger and asked Sakura if she could give them a minute.

Naruto moved closer and pulled Sasuke into a hug.

"I know. They're going to find out about Kurama at some point. There's nothing we can do but try to keep it a secret as long as we can."

Sasuke nodded. The longer he was in Naruto's embrace the calmer he felt. Naruto pulled back.

"They're not like the villagers Sasuke. They're good people."

"Let's hope so."
