Dean-
Getting to work, I went and sat down at my desk. My eyes on the door. Seth walked over and sat down on my desk.
"Dude you are such a pig", he said.
"Huh?", I asked.
He pointed at my desk and I cleaned it up. Getting rid of the trash. I took a deep breath and watched the door again.
"Relax, she's coming", Seth said smirking.
"Hunter still hasn't told me if he's switching me partners again", I said.
He nodded, the door opened and Alyssa walked in. She looked so good in her uniform. I smiled and stood.
"Hey Aly", I said.
"Good morning", she said.
She sat down at her desk. I saw Hunter and he noticed Aly was here, he came over and smiled.
"Sorry to break it to you Ambrose, but it looks like you're stuck with her", he said.
"And I'm okay with that. We've had time to talk and sort out some things", I said.
He nodded.
"Good. Aly I hope you're okay working with him?", Hunter asked her.
"I guess, I'm stuck with him aren't I", she said.
Hunter laughed and patted my shoulder.
"Get to work", he said, before walking away.
Seth left and I sat down. I looked across at Alyssa and smiled.
"You look good doll face", I said.
"Inappropriate officer Ambrose", she said.
"Kinky, role playing. You've been a very bad girl officer Martinez. Come sit on daddy's lap so he can punish you", I said.
She laughed and shook her head.
"Please be serious, especially at work", she said.
I nodded.
"Yes, now come on, we gotta go check out something", I said.
She nodded and stood. We drove around for a bit and I gave out a few tickets. Her phone started vibrating and she glanced at it. She ignored it.
"You can answer you know", I said.
"I don't want to", she said.
"If you don't mind me asking, who is it?", I asked.
She sighed and looked over at me.
"My mom", she said.
"Why wouldn't you want to answer her call? She's your mom", I said.
"The reason is none of your business, I'm just not talking to her right now", she said.
"But you hung out with her yesterday. I mean, something had to happen between the time I left you and now", I said.
"Well I don't feel like telling you, can we please drop it", she said, her tone of voice was harsh.
"Okay", I nodded.
We were driving back to the station, I heard her sigh.
"I'm sorry", she said.
I looked over at her.
"I didn't mean to snap at you, it's just", she stopped.
"Is this about that nothing you mentioned?", I asked.
She looked at me and nodded.
"You aren't ready to talk about it, it's okay", I said.
She nodded.
Alyssa-
I got home that night and locked up my apartment. Sticking to my routine, I placed a chair against the door. I sighed and went to shower and dress for bed. I made myself a tv dinner and I was about to sit down to eat and watch Empire when there was a knock at my door. I walked slowly over to the door and took a peek out the peep hole, Randy. I moved the chair and unlocked the door, opening it.
"Hi", he said.
"How do you know where I live?", I asked.
"We work together, I asked around for your file and it was in there", he said shrugging.
"Its late", I said.
"I know and that's why I brought dinner", he said, holding up bags.
"You're lucky I'm hungry", I said, gesturing for him to walk in.
He did and looked around. He pointed to the tv dinner on the couch.
"Really?", he asked.
I shrugged.
"I was too lazy to cook", I said.
He laughed.
"So what did you bring?", I asked, trying to peek into the bag.
He chuckled and opened the bags.
"Chinese food", he said, opening the box of egg rolls.
"You can stay", I said.
He laughed and set the food out. He sat down and I took a seat beside him.
"So how was work? Did Dean behave?", he asked.
I nodded.
"He's not so bad", I said.
"He's hot headed. Sometimes his temper gets the better of him and he might say some things that he doesn't mean", he said.
"People don't say something they don't mean", I said.
Randy glanced at me.
"Why did you prop a chair behind the door?", he asked.
I looked over at him.
"You don't have to tell me", he said.
"Then why did you ask?", I asked.
He raised a brow.
"Why don't you tell me what you think of why I put the chair", I said.
His eyes ran over me and then they met mine. He sat up more and nodded.
"I got it", he said.
"Care to share with the class?", I asked, before eating some noodles.
"He hurt you, whoever you're scared of. At work I noticed you scratch and rub your wrists a lot. You don't wear jewelry, so he was abusive. He would bind your hands. You also have small scars, I'm surprised Ambrose didn't notice", he said.
I placed my hand on my wrist.
"You try to stay away from men you don't know. When you do have to go near them you hesitate. You're comfortable around Roman and his friends because of Nikki and Brie", he said.
I bit my lip.
"That's another reason why you don't want to date. You're afraid that person will be exactly like your ex", he said.
I looked at him.
"You also look exhausted, like you haven't slept in days. You don't eat a lot or sometimes you don't eat at all because with him, there would be days when he let you eat and days when he starved you", he said.
A tear slipped.
"And if he would bind your hands, that means he raped you", he said.
He reached over to wipe my tears, but I flinched and backed away. He let his hand drop.
"Does he live in town?", he asked.
I shook my head no.
"He lives in Boston. He knows I moved here but not my exact location. My mother promised she wouldn't tell him", I said.
He looked angry now.
"Are you telling me your mother knew and didn't stop it?", he asked.
I shut my eyes and nodded.
"What? Why?", he asked.
I finally opened my eyes.
"That's how she was raised. My grandfather would beat my grandma and my mom. He always told her that women had to do what men say and if they didn't listen then they had to be taught a lesson", I said.
"Did your dad", I quickly stopped him.
"No", I said quickly.
He nodded.
"My dad would never put a hand on my mom or me. My mom was afraid of him though, you know when she would make a mistake or forget to do something. I never knew why till she finally told me, after I left Dolph", I said.
He nodded.
"What's his last name?", he asked.
"I'm not going to tell you", I said.
"I just want to check up on this guy", he said.
"I already have someone doing that and do me a favor? Don't tell anyone. The last thing I need is everyone feeling sorry for me", I said, standing to get another drink.
"Wait, so Roman and Seth don't know?", he asked.
I shook my head no.
"Brie and Nikki do. They were there and I told them not to tell Roman and Seth", I said.
He nodded.
"Secret is safe with me", he said.
"Thank you", I said.
"So seeing as we're like best friends now", he said.
"Oh is that what we are? You get something from my past right and automatically that makes us best friends", I said.
He nodded with a smile. I chuckled and gestured for him to continue.
"You and Ambrose, the night of the wedding. You two seemed to have disappeared. Where did you go?", he asked.
"To talk and drink", I said shrugging.
"Knowing Ambrose, I'm sure sex was involved", he said.
"Possibly but it was a one time deal, he knows that", I said.
"Where's our one time deal?", he asked.
I gave him a look and he laughed.
"Ouch, did I just get friend zoned?", he asked.
"Sorry", I said.
He shrugged.
"No biggie, but I should get going, work tomorrow", he said.
I nodded.
"Thanks for coming over and for the food", I said.
"Anytime and if ever you just need a friend and you can't call Nikki or Brie, call me and I'll come right over", he said.
"Thanks, that means a lot", I said.
"Not all of us men are this Dolph guy. Some of us have hearts and would rather cut off our hands before laying a finger on a woman", he said.
I nodded.
"Goodnight Alyssa", he said.
I walked him to the door and once he was out of view, I locked the door and placed the chair back against it.
