This cannot be real…

I closed my eyes as a laid in bed. It is like the same bed I slept in before, but it is a whole different time. I do not know if I will ever accept this reality, but I guess I have to. I still hope I am eventually going to wake up in the Hospital wing with Caleb sitting beside me. He would probably have a mixture of worried and happy expression on his face. I smiled as I thought of him. I probably will never be able to see him again…

I looked around the room to see Caleb standing by the lake. The sun was shining brightly above us warming me. It felt like it was mid summer, but I thought it was still winter. I gazed at Caleb as he picked up a pebble off the ground. I laughed as he tried to skip a rock across the lake, and failed at it. He turned around toward me with a smile on his face.

"You finally woke up?" he asked as he came closer. Woke up? I was sleeping? I looked at him confused as he sat down in front of me, "so do you finally have an answer?"

"Answer to what?" I asked confused and his expression changed. The smile on his face disappeared as he looked toward the lake. The sun was setting…

Wait, I thought it was noon. The sun was just above us.

"AMELIA!" a familiar voice yelled. I turned to see Lukas running toward us. He did not look at me as he gazed at Caleb infront of me, "have you seen Amelia?"

"What do you mean?" I asked confused, "idiot, I am right here."

"What do you mean?" Caleb asked standing up.

"She is mi-missing… and Harry l-looked on his m-m-map…" Lukas stuttered as tears fell down his face, "th-there is no si-sign of her."

"I am right here idiot" I said standing in front of him. A loud ringing echoed around me. I looked around to see the sun has set and Lukas disappeared. Caleb stood in front of me with a small smile on his face, "until next time." He leaned toward me, our lips almost touching. Caleb whispered, "mother."

"Sophia, I have a message for you" a voice said as I opened my eyes. I remembered everything that happened and the dream. I felt my cheeks redden as I sat up to see Lily handing me an envelope. "Also your stuff is here" Lily added standing up and gesturing toward the new trunk in the center of the room. I placed the envelope on my bed as I walked over toward the trunk. I opened it to see new school supplies, books, and uniforms (in my size somehow). I guessed Dumbledore did this. I walked back toward the envelope and opened it. There was two pieces of paper inside; my schedule and a letter from the headmaster himself.

Dear Miss. Amelia Rose Lynn,

I have notified the professors and the ministry of your predicament, and we were able to gather up some books, clothes, and supplies you will need (you probably already saw this). There is also some money in the trunk for anything else you will need. We are going to look into sending you back to the future, but the chances of it occurring are unlikely.

After your last class Professor Slughorn will be bringing you to my office to talk over what will be happening from now on.

Headmaster Albus Dumbledore

"We should hurry up" Lily said, "you do not want to be late on your first day of classes" I nodded my head as I began to gather up my stuff to take a quick shower. When I got out of the bathroom I saw Lily lying on her bed reading some book. I looked at the cover to see it was a muggle book called "The Crucible".

"Are you ready?" I asked causing the redhead to jump and hide the book. Does she not want people to know she reads muggle books? I do not really care myself, I like reading them.

"Yes" she said jumping off of her bed and the two of us headed downstairs. As we walked we began to try to get to know each other. When we reached the common room someone ran into us.

"Sorry" the brunette boy said with a shy smile. I instantly recognized him; Remus Lupin.

"It's okay" I said with a nervous smile. Truthfully, I had a crush on him when he was our professor. He was one of my favourite professors. The younger Lupin is cuter than the older one.

"You are the new girl right? What is your name?" he asked.

"Sophia Dalton" I responded remembering my new name.

"Nice to meet you Sophia," he said smiling, "my name is Remus Lupin."

"REMUS!" a voice yelled and we looked over to see James standing by the exit gazing at the three of us. Actually he was mostly staring at Lily, he is not subtle with his feelings for her.

"Be right there" Remus responded before turning back toward me, "see you two later."

"Bye" the two of us said to him.

James began, "LILY-!"

"I do not care Potter" Lily cut him off as the two of us pushed by him and out of the common room. We headed down the stairs with the four boys behind us. Sirius and Peter had joined the other two after we left. James and Sirius talked loudly about some pranks they were planning. They remind me of a pair of twins. Peter would cut in randomly saying "yeah," "cool," "you should do that," and "good idea". Remus did not say anything as we headed down the stairs. As we reached the Great Hall the four boys left us to sit down. Lily was looking around for Snape who seemed to be missing. After a couple of minutes I walked away saying I was hungry. Lily was still looking as I sat down for breakfast.

I made my plate and looked around at all the people. This feels strange. All of the people in this room are old enough to be my parents… but they are also the same age as me. I was halfway done with my food when I became surrounded by people. The four boys moved to sit with me. James sat on my left, Sirius on my right, and both Peter and Remus sat across from me.

"Hello, your name is Sophia, right?" James asked.

Sirius asked, "new student in the middle of the year? That must suck." I ignored the questions as I continued to eat. What do I say to them? I know their futures; neither future is good. I do not even think I can look at Peter without remembering what he has- actually what he will do. It has not happened yet and I know I cannot change it.

"You are not going to talk to us?" James asked sadly.

"Yes, that is my name" I responded not looking away from my food, "and it is not that bad."

"Where did you go before?" Sirius asked.

"Homeschooled" I lied.

James asked, "why did you stop?"

"My parents wanted me to experience more stuff in life" I lied. By the end of all of this I will probably become a great liar. I was never good at lying, I do not know how they believe me now.

"Then why are you now-" Sirius asked. Why are they asking so many questions...

"What is with all the questions" Remus and I asked at once. I looked up at Remus who was blushing.

"Awe look, Moony is blushing" Sirius said and Remus threw a piece of bread back.

"Shut up" Remus retorted, "you two are the ones who are asking for her whole life story."

"We are curious about Lily's new friend" James stated.

"Stop annoying her" a voice stated from behind us. I jumped and turned to see Severus and Lily standing there.

"Hello Lily" James said smiling as Sirius made gagging noises.

"I lost my appetite," Lily stated before looking at me, "are you done?" I nodded my head as I stood up.

"See you later Sophia" Sirius said. I pictured the 33 year old Sirius when he said that and a shiver went down my spine.

Slughorn walked away as I began my ascent toward the Headmasters office. I sighed as I knocked on the door.

"Come in Sofia" the Headmaster called from inside. So he knows my new "name". I walked inside to see Headmaster Dumbledore looking over some papers on his desk. I cleared my throat nervously as he looked up. "Good afternoon Amelia, or should I say Sophia, how was your first day of classes?" he asked.

I blushed nervously, "it is good so far."

"Okay, well I asked for you to come to talk about what we will be doing for the summer. Where you would be staying. We cannot let your identity out to everyone because it might cause some problems. We have some families associated with the Ministry that are willing to take you in over the summer breaks but it is up to you." Dumbledore stated. I felt as if I had cold water poured over me. It felt as if I had something heavy on my chest and I was having trouble to breath. Am I going to have to stay with a strange family?

Dumbledore is trying to help me, but I am still clueless.

I feel like a little kid still. My whole world has been shook underneath my feet, everything I believed I knew has been thrown out the window. I remember the day my dad told me mom was dead. I remembered crying in his arms until he had to go check on the crying Lukas. I remember my dad lying on the kitchen floor surrounded by his blood. I remember his last words. I remember my grandmother taking me out of the only home I knew and being forced into a new home. I felt the same that I felt then right now. I am afraid.

I tried to smother my emotions about the whole thing since I arrived in this time period but it is all coming back too fast. Tears that were fighting to escape finally won.

I did not know what to do, I just stood there with tears freefalling down my cheeks.

I am lost.

Please…

Mom…

Dad…

Grandma…

Lukas…

Caleb…

Anyone…

I love you all...

Help me, please.
