Lin's P.O.V

Lin rushed down the hall, Mai's room coming into view. He could hear Naru right behind him, running with as much speed as he could muster. As Lin reached the door Monk and John appeared at the other end of the hall.

"Was that Mai?" Monk questioned as he and John ran down towards them. Lin nodded and pushed open the door, They found Mai laying on the ground, the back of her shirt was stained with blood and painful sobs shock her entire body. Lin rushed forward, hitting his knees, and preparing himself for what he would see. He pulled up the back of her shit and gasped. There was a design cut into her back, something that looked kinda like a dead tree that had long slender branches.

Ayako entered the room with a box Lin had seen her carry around before. "Let me see." Ayako knelt next to Lin, running her hand along Mai's side. She patted some cloth along some of the slender cuts that were still bleeding. "It doesn't look that bad. She doesn't need stitches, but she will be sore for a while." Ayako smiled at how strong that had come out. "Masako," Ayako turned to the medium. "I will need your help cleaning up her blo... her wounds and wrapping them." Masako nodded. "Thank you!" Lin got to his feet and pulled out a camera naru had brought to take pictures of some of the rooms. He snapped two pictures of Mai's back and allowed himself to be ushered out of the room by Ayako.

"What happened?" Naru asked as they walked back down the hall.

"You know about as much as we do." Monk answered, his voice wavering just a bit. Lin looked at the camera in his hand, turned it on, and quickly went to the pictures. The first one made Lin flinch, it looked so painful. As Lin flipped to the second one he stopped walking. This picture was almost exactly the same as the first one, but something was very different. There was a hand touching Mai's back. He thought back to when he had taken the two pictures. He had been the only one who had been near Mai at those two moments. Ayako had been ushering everyone out of the room and Masako had been cleaning out the blood stained rag Ayako had used to clean up Mai's blood so she could check the wound. Lin looked closer at the hand and realized that he could see Mai's shirt though it.

"Lin!" Naru's voice broke Lin's concentration.

"Yes Naru?!" Lin asked, looking up, his mind still focused on the camera.

"I've been calling your name for a while now." Naru said, a grumpy tone filling his voice. "What's wrong?" Lin thought about telling Naru, he really did.

"No-nothing." Lin shook his head as he dropped the camera back into his pants pocket. He couldn't tell Naru, at least not yet. Naru had to dill with Aoki and didn't need to be anymore worried for Mai's well-being. Lin would show him tomorrow when everything had calmed down. Lin stopped at his door and felt someone's eyes watching him. He turned slowly and found himself looking at Aoki who was standing at the end of the hall. She smiled at him then turned and ran down the stairs. Lin entered his room and realized that someone had been there.

"Aoki!" Lin growled, searching to see what she had been looking for. Lin noticed a book of thoughts he had mad years ago when he had slightly despised Naru was now sitting on top of his suitcase. She hadn't had time to put it back in the front pocket when she had heard them coming down the hall. "So your looking for some dirt on Naru, huh" Lin placed the book back in his luggage and glared at the ground. "Your such a bit... Oh how I hate that woman." He got to his feet and crossed the room to his bed, unbuttoning his shirt as he walked. Lin sat on the edge, pulled his left arm out of his sleeve, then quickly reached for his mouth. He felt his stomach convulse, causing him to gag a few times before his dinner sat in the trash can. He quickly got the rest of his shirt off and his pant undone before his stomach muscles tightened again. He sat hovering over the trash can for what seemed like hours, letting his dry heaves scratch up his already raw throat. When Lin felt his stomach calm, he slowly slid his pants off and pulled on his night cloths. He curled up in his bed, turned off his lamp, and invited the darkness.

Naru's P.O.V

Naru Stared out the window of his room, his eyes following the snow that fell from the sky. He could hear Aoki in the bathroom across the hall, singing as she took a shower. The image of Mai kept coming to mind. He turned away, stared at the ground, and scowled, his anger flowing through him. "I'm such and idiot!" Naru hissed, clenching his fist and gritting his teeth. "I'm so sorry Mai, I should have told you earlier. I should have followed you! I-I should hav..."

"Talking to yourself," Aoki interrupted. "You never did that before you moved to Japan." Naru turned around, surprised that he hadn't heard the water turn off. He quickly turned back to the window when he saw Aoki.

"Why are you naked? Where is your towel?" Naru questioned the image of Aoki still in his mind, causing him to shiver.

"I just got out of the shower and those towels are really rough on my skin," Aoki whined. "Don't worry so much! No one, except you, saw me, but I guess that's okay. You know, sense we are getting married and all." Naru clenched his fists.

"I'm not getting married to you, so screw off!" Naru growled, spitting out the words "screw off" with more venom.

"Oh yeah, you not getting married to me, your going to get married to that sweet little girl aren't you?" She Spock in a sweet voice. "Well guess what?" She forced out forced out with anger. "It isn't your choice!" He could hear her walk closer. "But don't worry about her. I have an older brother who loves little girls just out of high school." Naru felt anger explode inside of him. He got to his feet, turned to Aoki (avoiding all eye- body contact), and slapped her. She hit the ground hard, her check already starting to turn red. "Naru! That hurt!" Pain filled her voice. "How dare you slap me, I am of royal blood!" Naru glared at her face.

"Well, my lady," Naru formally addressed her, bowing as a loyal Noble would to his queen. "You sure don't act like it." He walked over to his bed, grabbing the night gown Aoki had set out and threw it at her. "Get dressed!" Naru walked across the room to the door, he ran his hand through his hair. "Never say anything like that about her again, you hear me, or I will send you to your parent in a coffin." He opened the door, stepped out, and...

"Naru! Don't you dare threaten me like that! My family has conections to a lot of people... bad people." Her voice was stern, strong, not a whine or cry in it. Naru turned to her and smiled.

"So does mine." He closed the door and walked down the hall. He noticed something at the end of the hall. A silhouette walking away from him. He approached it and recognized the brown hair. "Mai! What are you doing up so late, and after what happened!" Mai turned and when he saw her face his heart broke. Tears rolled down her face and her chin shock rapidly. "Mai why are you crying?" Mai backed away, her eyes filled with pain. "What's wrong?"

"Naru, please, jus-just leave me alone, please." Her voice shock, her arms folding in front of her.

"But Mai, I need to explain..."

"N-no, yo-you don't have to explain any-anything." She quickly turned away and limped down the hall. She reached a door and entered a dark room. Naru quickly approached and realized the room was Lin's.
