A/N: I am back again, I really have been on and off with this story. The only reason for that is because I can never decide whether to even continue on with this story, but obviously since people like it, I will continue it. Also it have been increasingly hard to write this story in the first person, so for this chapter I will write fight and um… sex scenes in the 3rd person view. Look at me ramble on like a deranged lunatic, let's get on with it.
Chapter VII
Maka's POV
After Medusa had agreed to working with the Chosen, tea and cakes were brought into the room as a contract was written up. I looked down at the paper that the cold woman was writing on; I looked to the red head that was talking to one of the white hooded men with a tray of sweats in his arm.
"Is a contract really necessary?" I ask as I watched the dark haired woman write each syllable in calligraphy
"It is extremely necessary" she said bringing the cup back to the saucer in her hand, "I have to make sure you don't betray us" the red head said with a grin as her staring contest continued with Medusa
"You don't trust use" Medusa said in a mock innocent voice.
Before the redhead could answer, the woman I had decided to call snow (on account of what her leader called her), had set the quill she was working with down and handed the paper to the witch, "whether we trust you or not does not matter, sign here, and you will have our forces at your disposal" she said pointing to the dotted line at the end of the contract.
"No need to get testy Snow" I said with a smile on my face, which in turned, caused her to give me a glare filled with contempt.
"
Medusa grabbed the paper and read through the contents; after she was done she gave a wicked smile as she signed the contract and handed it back to the cold woman.
"Now that were done with business, how about we go take a tour around the asylum" Angela said as she stood up from the couch.
Following her movement both me and medusa stood up as well but was quickly interrupted by the sound of a wall collapsing to our right. I quickly looked towards the sound in curiosity and found that it was Kirikou that had knocked down the wall. He walked in with a pompous attitude as I watched him look around the room. Sensing a fight at hand, I was already forming the black scythe in my hands and preparing to fight the dark skinned man until Medusa grabbed my wrist.
"I want to see our new allies in a fight, wouldn't you?" she whispered into my ear causing a shiver to go down my spine. I answered her with a nod as I allowed myself to be pulled back into a darker part of the room so we wouldn't be noticed by the meister.
"Who the hell are you?" Angelica asked while glaring at the man.
Kirikou rolled his left shoulder as he began walking forward, "the names Kirikou, or the guys who's about to take you guys down"
"Kirikou you say" said the cold woman as she walked to stand side by side with her leader, "I'll make sure I carve that on your grave" she said as she rolled up her sleeves to expose the black claws from the other night.
(3rd person omniscient)
And with that statement, the fight between the meister and the cold woman started while Medusa and I remained hidden in the shadows so we could watch the battle. Kirikou slammed the two twin pots on his hands together, making one catch fire, while the other chirped as streams of electrical energy surrounded the other. Snow sprinted towards him with her claws dragging on the ground creating small streams of frozen spikes behind each finger. At seeing the nature of the girl's abilities, Kirikou decided then that the best method for taken down his opponent would be to mostly use the male twin of his two weapons. With a fierce battle cry, the dark skinned man charged the girl with a trail of intense flames following. As both oppressing elements clashed together, it sent a wave of intense heat on one side of the room, and a chill so cold it could freeze the hearts of the weak on the other. Almost immediately after Kirikou saw that his opponent was generally unaffected by his attack, he cocked back his other fist to launch a wave of electricity at the woman. As the action was carried out, Snow ducked under the oncoming attack and followed up with a sweeping kick that caused the dark skinned man to fall on the ground.
Snow attempted to follow through with a downward slash that would have cut the man in half but was stopped by a strong kick to her stomach that sent her flying towards the opposite wall. The force of the impact against the stone caused the wall to crack, when she fell from the wall to the floor, multiple pieces of stone came with her, creating clouds of dust form when the landed on her. All but Angela, Maka and Medusa, had begun to flee at the sight of the cold girl underneath the rubble. None of them had ever seen the woman hit let alone hurt and now each of them were now afraid to see the result of the battle that was currently taking place. Out of curiosity, Maka had activated her soul perception to see what was taking place on a level that no one else could. At first what she saw was a peculiar sight; the soul was white colored and had a large black cloth with the symbols in a language different than any the blonde has ever saw written on it in white. The soul was wrapped in numerous chains that seemed to be held down by large padlocks with symbols written on them.
As the cold woman stood up, shaking the rubble off her in the process. Her soul grew larger until she seemed to be completely enveloped by it. With great speed, the woman took off and began slashing at the dark skinned man. The sudden onslaught forced Kirikou to take a defensive approach to the battle as he continuously blocked each slash with the twin pots; each of the clawed woman's attack was defended by the iron, gauntlet like pot. But as each strike impacted them, they slowly froze over, chilling the very soul that resided in both the weapons. Unfortunately Kirikou had not notice such a thing until he had attempted to cock back his hand in another attempt to strike the woman, when he looked at the pot of fire, her saw frost slowly forming a layer of ice. The distraction caused him not to notice the white boot coming straight towards his face. Much like what happened when he kicked her in the stomach, the impact sent him into the wall making him impact the hard stone mere inches from where he had come in through. Unfortunately, because he had previously knocked part of the stone wall down, the rest of it was already weakened and fell in great quantities after the dark skinned male had fallen.
Tired and sore, Kirikou forced himself to stand from the floor. He slammed his two companions together yet again causing their respective elements to overcome the ice and make themselves known to all that was still in the room. Snow gave the man an irritated look as she cracked her flexed her claws, making a slight cracking noise in the process. With incredible ferocity, both opponents charged at the other, one trialing fire behind him, and the other a massive trail of frozen spikes as she let her claws lightly claw into the floor. Kirikou then launched himself into the air with the woman following suit. The man arms was now completely covered in the blazing flames that came from the male twin while the woman's entire leg seemed to steaming from the already frigid air being far too warm for the cold that radiated from the clothed skin. Within the last moments of the two warriors being in the air, Kirikou heard a familiar laugh towards his right. Despite his instincts screaming at him to pay attention, the man allowed his head to turn to find the source of the laughter. The intense fire that both cloaked his arm and trailed behind him had illuminated the darker parts of the room where he had unexpectedly found the face of a friend he hasn't saw since he was sent to watch over the rural areas of France before he was sent on the mission to bring down this gang. There he saw Maka with a grin on her face as Medusa wrapped her arms around the smaller girl's waist.
"Maka!?" he said in surprise at the sudden appearance of his old friend.
Unfortunately for him, he looked longer than he should have and learned why he shouldn't lose focus in the midst of battle when the leg impacted his torso and sent him spiraling back out the same hole that he had come into the building through. The sheer force of the kick had broken multiple rips and the impact with the solid snow covered concrete had rendered the meister unconscious. With the meister defeated, Snow landed back on the ground and reacquired her generally emotionless demeanor as she walked to the female leader with a bored expression.
Maka's POV
"Great work" I heard the red headed gang leader say as the black haired girl with a pat on her back.
"It was quite impressive" Medusa said as we walked out of the shadows, "what do you think Maka"
At first I didn't respond to the witch's question because I was still looking at the cold woman who now stood next to Angela with the sleeves of her white jacket covering her hands. I was still looking at the woman's soul that had shrunk a significant size but was still covered in chains and locks. I felt a hand lightly rest upon my shoulder, bringing me back to reality as I looked at the slightly taller woman that stood next to me.
"Hmm, what did you say?" I asked in a tone that for some reason made my lover laugh, "What's so funny?" I asked with a slight pout as I placed my hands on my hips.
"Nothing" the snake witch said as turned back to the two women in front of us, "seeing how you have a giant hole in your all" she said gesturing to the large opening that was slowly allowing the snow to come in. "why don't you two come with me as you subordinates repair it" she said as if it was a statement instead of a questioned.
"I wouldn't want to impose" the red head said obviously trying to get out of it.
"It wouldn't be imposing at all" Medusa replied with a snake like grin, "and besides, I like to keep my allies very close to me, isn't that right Maka?" she said wrapping her arm around my waist.
"Why of course" I said with a smile as I leaned into the woman, "and besides, you and Snow would love it there" I said making sure to emphasize Snow so she would notice.
The red head gave the brunette a desperate as if she wanted to get the cold woman to get her out of the situation she was but in. Snow responded with a simple shrug of her shoulders, "lead the way" she said as Angela gave her a wide-eyed look.
With a wave of my hand, I gestured for the two women to follow us as we walked to a random door. As we I but the palm of my hand on the cold mahogany, I opened the door that now opened up to the sight of stairs leading down into the base that I called home. As we walked down the stairs to show our new guest to their living quarters, I could hear them speaking to each other in whispers behind us.
"You know I quite like the idea of calling you Snow" Angela said with the hint of laughter in her voice.
"Shut up" was the quick response the red head received causing both Medusa and I too lightly chuckle at them.
(3 days later)
Soul's POV
I sat outside an infirmary room on one of the slightly uncomfortable arm chairs as I waited for the nurse to allow me into the room. it's been three days since Kirikou been back at Shibusen, whatever he was sent to do in England ended him up in an emergency room after a group of guys walked by him while they were trying to impress their girlfriends by going in some asylum. After a few hours of being in one of England's hospitals, he was sent here so that he could explain what happened to him. I looked up as I caught the light click of a door opening; a brunette nurse with a pure white collared shirt with matching slacks appeared in the door way with a soft expression on her face. The emblem of Shinigami-sama's mask on the right shoulder above a black band showed that she worked exclusively for Shibusen so that she was experience with all kinds of wounds that regular human doctors wouldn't be able to help with.
"you can go ahead and come in, I'm going to go get a few things" she said as she walked past me, I could still hear the shoes she was wearing click down the hallway as I entered the infirmary through the slightly opened door.
Walking into the pure white room, I immediately saw the messy dreads that made up my friends hair, "what's up" Kirikou said with a smile as he sat up in the bed.
"just the usual" I replied while shaking his hand, I looked him up and down and saw the white bandages wrapped tightly around his torso and the bruises on his arms and shoulders, "you look like hell" I stated bluntly.
"Yeah I probably do huh" he said with a laugh, he seemed to look behind me as if searching for someone until he looked back at me. "Hey, where's Maka? Before I left you to were damn near inseparable"
The question made my muscles tense as I thought about the time two years before now when Maka and I were dating, before she went cold. We were going strong for about a year until the spark seemed to vanish, I tried to keep us together but we kept drifting apart. And then one day Maka confronted me and gave me a "it's not you, it's me" line, I remembered how I acted so casual that day as I scratched my head and replied with an empty "sure", despite the fact that I felt as if my heart was being ripped from my chest as I watched her back her things and head towards the door. Two days later, a moving company came for the rest of her stuff and quickly loaded all of her things into the truck. Leaving me with a house full of memories of our relationship, and broken dreams of what we could have been.
"You alright Soul" I heard my friend say bringing me out of my thoughts.
"Oh yeah, Maka and I didn't work out" I said casually, "we just wanted different things, and we couldn't give each other what we needed" I said failing at sounding okay about it.
"that sucks man" he said with sympathy almost dripping from his words, trying to console me in the manliest way possible, he gave me a pat on my shoulder. "Anyway, where exactly is the little control freak?" he asked with a smile.
I felt myself tense again; it was bad enough that Maka was gone. But now, to avoid any trouble, Shinigami-sama told us to keep Maka's defection a secret amongst all those who already knew. "You missed her by about of week" I lied as I pulled up a chair next to the bed, "Shinigami-sama just sent her on a mission"
I watched as Kirikou brow raised as he gave me an odd look, "without you?" he asked, the look he gave me started to make me nervous.
"Yeah, the boss didn't really explain it much, just said it was important" I leaned back on my chair as I thought of a topic to switch to, "so how did you get all beat up?" I asked knowing that he couldn't resist telling a story.
"alright I tell you" he said as I smiled at my success in getting Maka off the topic, "I was in London where I got the information on a gang that Scotland yard was having trouble with, so I figured 'why not', so I went up to this old creepy ass asylum that was supposed to be their hideout. I knocked down a wall and ended up fighting some weird girl with claws, I almost won, but then I thought I saw something and she caught me by surprise"
"Right" I replied sarcastically as I crossed my arms, "are you sure you saw something, or was she stronger than you?" I asked with a smile on my face.
"No really, I was distracted by what I thought I saw" he said trying to convince me.
"All right, I'll bite, what did you see?"
"You'll probably think I'm crazy, but I could have sworn I saw Maka" he said as if he didn't believe it himself. "She had this smile on her face with someone's arms around her waist, crazy right?"
Once again I felt every muscle in my body tense up when I heard what he said. Every part of mind didn't want to believe that she was there with the witch, but I knew it was true. "Yeah that is crazy man" I said trying to stay calm, "look, I got to go"
"That's cool" Kirikou said as he adjusted the white pillow, "nurse said I should get some sleep anyway"
With a wave goodbye, I quickly left the room. As I walked down the halls, I felt my stomach turn and my chest ache right were the long scar stretched across my shoulder to my waist. I stopped and put my hand on the wall to steady myself when I felt a wave of dizziness wash over me. After a few seconds passed by, I pressed my back against the black walls and slowly slid down until I was sitting on the floor. I placed my head into my hands as I slowly curled into a ball, the anguish I felt over Maka's disappearance made me experience old feelings I previously thought were buried, feelings like the love for her I could never get over. The resurgence of the past feeling would of made me burst into tears if my pride wasn't too important to allow such a thing, instead, I trembled as I sat with my back against the wall trying to find the exact point in time were everything went wrong. I was so distracted by my pointless goal that I didn't even here the small footsteps walking towards me.
"Mr. Evans?" a small voice said as it approached me. I looked up and saw a short girl with long curly hair wearing a school blazer with black slacks, in an instant I recognize her as the girl Maka cheered up a month ago because she thought she was a terrible meister. "Are you okay?" she asked innocently.
"Yeah" I said trying my best to smile but the only thing I could manage was an empty look, "just dealing with a few things"
She looked down both directions of the hall before turning back to me, "um… where is Ms. Albarn?"
"She's… away" I weakly reply as I turned my eyes away from the girl, "why is something wrong?"
"n-no" she stuttered, "I just kind of miss her"
Then it hit me, Maka doesn't really want to be with that damn snake witch. She must be under a spell or something; too many people rely on her here. I said to myself as I slowly started to regain hope of her return despite the voice in the back of my head telling me I was just grasping at straws, But convinced that I could bring her back I ignored it. I looked up at the girl and gave her a sincere smile, "you know what, I miss her to, in fact I'm going to bring her back" I said with a smile as I stood up, patting the girl on the head, I left to go tell Shinigami-sama that I wasn't giving up on Maka, that I would save her, whether she liked it or not.
A/N: yes, I finally finished this chapter, for such a long time I didn't know what direction to go with this until I had a thought. "What is Soul going to do about this", so here we have him becoming the hero. To those who are disappointed I made this chapter mostly about him, you'll eventually see that he plays a major role in the development of the story. And to those who think I made him to pathetic, come on, he just lost the girl he loved to a witch, Granted a sexy one, but a witch none the less. I would like to thank all my reviewers for driving me to make more of these, and now that I got over my writers block, I hope to keep working on this story. And by the way, if you're okay with the 3rd person fight and future sex scenes please tell me so I know to keep doing it. If not then tell me in a review and I will try to weigh the two options to see which is better based on reviewer's opinions.
Yours truly: The Prophet of Sin.
