Alright, I finally get around to finishing this chapter. To be honest, this will not be one of my best chapters, but lately I've been feeling out of it when I update my less popular stories. And with me posting new stories like crazy, I'm finding myself a bit overwhelmed. Well, never mind about that. Right now, just R&R, PM, and Enjoy!

Chapter 7; Krux vs. Derek

Derek came out of the portal and was thrown to the ground. He landed on his chest and groaned as he picked himself up. He looked around and saw he was in some sort of throne room. The walls had several lights, imitating stars, and the throne itself stood near the back.

Derek looked around, feeling that his opponent would show himself soon enough. A soft humming sound caught his attention and he brought out his Gamma sword, blocking an attack from behind. He turned around to face Krux, who wielded his black long sword.

"Your senses are sharp. Good."

"Krux. What are you planning?"

He simply chuckled in response to the Spectrobe Master's question. "In due time, you will see." Derek shouted in anger, and swung the sword at him, but Krux was too fast and easily blocked it. "Anger is self-destructive, didn't your parents ever teach you that?" Derek continued to slash at him, but each time the blows were blocked.

"You waste your energy, boy," Krux said, blocking a slash from Derek and holding him there. "You cannot hope to defeat me. Your father couldn't finish me off, what makes you think you can do better?"

"Because I'm not my father!" Derek swung his sword around, disarming Krux and held the sword up to his mask.

"It's over! Surrender now!" Krux was silent or a moment before he began to chuckle. Krux held up a hand to his mask and took it off. Derek was surprised to see that half of his face was human, while the other was Krawl.

"You…You're part Krawl?" Krux was able to use Derek's confusion to his advantage and knocked him away. Krux retrieved his sword and walked over to Derek, who was standing back up, and began to take the offensive.

Derek did his best to block his attacks but Krux managed to get some strikes in, tearing his uniform and cutting his skin. Krux pushed Derek away again, this time pushing his sword away and punching Derek in his abdomen. Pain overtook Derek as he felt his wound from their last encounter reopen.

Krux kicked him away and Derek landed on his side, the taste of blood filling his mouth. "You cannot best me, child," Krux said as he walked to Derek, dragging his sword on the ground. "You're strong, resourceful, and intelligent, but not enough." Derek turned over as Krux held his sword up to Derek's neck, and prepared the final blow.

A sudden explosion next to Krux distracted him long enough for Derek to kick his legs out from under him and stand back up, reactivating his sword. Derek looked behind him and saw his parents rush over to him. They helped him up and Derek looked to Krux, who was on the ground, staring up at them.

"Krux," Rallen said, "You're as ugly as I remember." Krux began to laugh, and soon the same black mist began to pour out of his cloak. Derek realized he was attempting to get away and stabbed him, but the moment Derek's sword touched Krux, he disappeared into the black mist.

Derek cleared away the mist and looked around, but Krux was gone. "Well that's just great," Derek said. "He's gone."

"Rallen, do you think he's hiding again?"

"I'd bet Aldous' Prizmod on it." Derek deactivated his sword and turned to his father.

"What do we do now? Do we head back to Kollin?"

Rallen thought for a moment and said, "If they're still in the state that we left them in, I doubt we'll be arriving to a hero's welcome."

"Our best course of action is to head to the orbital station and contact the NPP from there. Once we've done so, we'll need to explain what happened."

Rallen nodded, "Okay, Derek, let's head out." Derek nodded as well and Komainu jumped out of his Prizmod, signifying it was safe for now.

A portal was visible behind them and they made their way to it, going through and finding themselves back at the broken bridge. They crossed using their Aobasar and boarded the cruisers, leaving Malik and heading back to Kollin.

I know, it's not as long as I wanted it to be, but it's better than nothing. The story will continue, trust me, and it will pick up later on. I just can't find the inspiration right now. As always, R&R, PM, and I'll see you later.
