Sayaka was the Ice Doll of Shuhei High School and she was proud of it. She walked down the halls with the straight back of an adult; no one would have believed that the somnolent, sharp girl with the glacial eyes was only fourteen.
Now Nina-Nina was the opposite of this, the class clown as it were, the joker and with Ayu (another popular girl) as her straight woman. Sometimes, Sayaka got suspicious over their relationship, but then Ayu and Tetsushi started holding hands.
He had even told that beautiful older girl, Akiho-coach of the boy's basketball team and the lust object of all of them-that there was no need to wait around for him, because he an Ayu would be together forever.
Itsumo. Fur immer. Pour toujours. Per sempres. Sempre.
She'd had a lot of time to get used to being a half breed, to practice her magic and to learn languages and become a more cultured person than most people at fifty were.
But Nina bothered her.
At first she was bumbling, no threat to her at all and yet-
Ayu was drawn to her, then Tetsushi and Hiroki, and now Yuta and Mito and Leo...
Sayaka, who had not had a friend in years, was forced to watch this pathetic façade every day of her damned life.
Her twisted mind darkened further and she psyched herself up.
"Yuta?"
The arrogant, handsome boy turned round and she could tell he liked what he saw.
"O-namae wa Sayaka," she said. "Can we go somewhere quiet?"
Sayaka said 'My name is Sayaka' in a very respectful way. Poor, unsuspecting Yuta.
