"Oh fuck no!" My eyes opened, an annoyed look forming on my face as I heard the voice from the other room echoing thought the thin wall, followed shortly by a loud crash.
One would think that by now I would've gotten used to loud noises in the night. But, by now I've realized that that's one of the few things in this world that you never really get used to, no matter how often it occurs.
I sighed and swung my legs off the side of the bed to stand up. The voice from earlier could still be heard thought the thin walls of the shanty, but this time in a much lower tone as he softly swore over what ever had caused the crash moments ago.
I walked over and leaned on the door frame, peering into the other room. Vaas stood there by the window next to the couch. His position covering my view of whatever he was currently working on, in a rather furious manner at that. The streams of swear words never ceased their constant stream from his mouth.
I knocked on the door frame, attempting to get his attention, he froze.
"Need any help?" He whipped around to face me but remained in his spot, therefore still covering my view. He huffed before raising his hand and pointing at the room I had just come from
"Jason! Get the fuck back in that room, hermano." I was surprised by his outburst, but rather then questioning him I waved my hand and quickly retreated back into the room.
"Just wanted to see what the crash was about." I said quietly, he must have heard me though because a moment or two later he spoke again.
"Yeah? Well what the fuck did I say to you before you went to bed Jason, what the fuck did I say? I said stay in your room until morning, that's what I fucking said! That does not change just because you hear something in the other room. I don't care if the whole fucking celling comes down on your head tonight, if I told you not to come out until morning you'd wait until then to dig your sorry ass out! I'll say this one more time just to be sure I'm fucking clear, okay? Don't. Leave. Your. Room."
"Yeah, yeah. Just wanted to make sure you were okay." I muttered, slumping back down on the bed and closing my eyes in an attempt to fall back to sleep again.
"Jason~" My eyes opened at the sound of my name only to see Vaas's face inches from mine. I jumped a bit and he chuckled before moving away and sitting down next to me as I groggily sat up.
"Jason." He said again, shifting in his position on the bed.
"Do you have any idea what today is?" I ran a hand down my face before looking over to his expectant gaze.
"Not really, no." I was a little relived to see that Vaas didn't mind my not knowing for he just continued on, a smile still stretched across his face.
"Well, today is a very special day here on my island. Here, come and see, come see." He practically jumped off the bed and grabbed my arm, pulling me along behind him. I guessed that I would get to see what he'd done that'd made all that noise last night.
Once we got to the door frame of the bedroom Vaas stopped and brought his gaze up to meet mine. He grinned for a moment before releasing his hold of my arm and running ahead over to the spot where I'd seen him last night. I waited a moment before following him into the other room.
There stood Vaas, gleaming smile stretched across his face as he stood with his arms stretched wide, showcasing what appeared to be a palm tree.
My brow wrinkled in confusion and I took a few steps closer, examining the object that had mysteriously made itself a place next to our couch.
A palm tree that looked to have been dug up fairly recently sat in a rusty barrel. It was leaning to the side slightly due to the fact that it couldn't stand up on its own.
The tree itself was adorned with a colorful fabric which looked to have been torn from a flowery tourist shirt. The strips of fabric were wrapped around the trunk of the tree in a crisscrossing pattern and some were tied around the branches and leaves in sloppy little bows. And at the top in the very spot where a star would've normally been there was a plastic tiara that read "Sweet sixteen", I chuckled at the thought that it must have been ripped from some poor girl's hair at one point.
I stood there for another moment trying to take in all the details of this tree when Vaas pulled me out of my train of thought.
"It's fucking beautiful, no?" He turned his gaze to look at me, and then to the tree.
"I worked on it for hours last night trying to find just the right way to decorate it."
"So it's Christmas then?" Vaas turned and smirked at me.
"I thought it was time that Christmas come to my island." He paused and smiled for a moment.
"Especially now that I have someone to share it with." He turned and gave me a rather cheesy grin.
I looked over at the tree again and began to chuckle, the smile quickly dropped off of Vaas's face.
"Are you laughing at my fucking tree, pretty boy?"
"No, no, it's not that, it's just…" I paused for a moment still smiling as I brought my gaze up to him.
"Holidays with you are always so wonderful."
